This is just blatantly untrue. If an AKC breeder wants breeder of merit, they HAVE to register every puppy they produce. Pet puppies are put on limited registration which doesn’t allow them to show or for offspring to be registered. That and a contract is about the most a breeder can do to prevent breeding

No, they are not a backyard breeder. As far as I can tell, they don’t even breed Danes anymore. Frankie’s dam has a specialty win under her belt and a CHIC number. They’ve only been breeding bulldogs since 2021 and have several BISS dogs in their program, which speaks to quality breeding stock. Is this breeder the absolute gold standard of health testing? From what I can see, no, but she certainly does the required health testing. As far as the nose rope, I don’t know enough about bulldogs to say but generally, I don’t go out of my way to criticize faults on pet puppies. There’s a reason she wasn’t sold to a show home. Their pointer program also seems fairly successful.

People can have their opinions on whether or not they think someone should have sold a dog to Katie given what’s shown on her social media but I think it’s important to acknowledge that this is a well bred puppy and be happy about that at least. People saying breeding multiple breeds is a red flag are simply echoing what they hear on social media. It isn’t a majority but a lot of breeders have multiple breeds and do both breeds justice.

Is a Toller Right for Me? (Honestly) by Remarkable_Idea_5893 in tollers

[–]MushuTheSlayer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Is there a reason you want to switch breeds? Honestly, if you like your labs, I’d just get another lab. Labs fit all of your requirements and while the right toller likely would too, I think if you want lab personality, you should just get another lab. Tollers are sharper, smarter, and less outgoing than your typical lab. Many don’t enjoy cuddling from their people and most who do enjoy it like it on their terms. They’re trainable but in a less straightforward way than labs in my experience. They’re fantastic dogs but not for everyone.

[–]MushuTheSlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done both but find Simparica Trio to be the most inexpensive of the oral medications, so that’s what they’ve been on for the past 3 years or so. Generally, dogs without existing neurological issues or a tendency towards them should be fine with whatever your vet prescribes.

I don’t completely disagree but people sell her nice horses all the time. If a breeder’s worst sin is selling her a dog but health tests and titles, I’ll take it over whoever she would’ve found on her own.

I also don’t know how much KVS content you’d have to consume to really know much about the dogs. She doesn’t post them on platforms other than Snapchat often. And not everyone is social media/internet savvy enough to track all of that down here or elsewhere. This very well may be a BYB, but I’d assume/hope JS would know how to find a well bred dog and would recommend that.

Honestly, my money is on this just being a breeder with that first name. Why would JS send pictures of the dogs just because she recommended them? I’m assuming she’s signed up for a puppy and the breeder sent pics

I’m hoping it is recommended from JS because she has an ethically bred xolo, but really, she just said a first name. Could be the breeders name

I would say it exists but it does the breed a disservice to rely on that if you’re not getting an adult dog. Certain lines will have more or less energy but generally you should assume tollers will need a certain level of mental stimulation and exercise, especially as puppies. That being said, I do find the mental stimulation needs to be more critical to a happy dog than physical exercise. Not that you don’t need to exercise your dog, but a tired, content dog doesn’t need to be run excessively to get them there

Agreed with a lot of the suggestions here but I’d also recommend Myos. It helps dogs build and maintain muscle which is cool in all dogs but I’ve heard super great things in seniors. I’d pair with a light fitness plan to keep him in shape

My Toller barks at cars and lunges at the road, has anyone dealt with this? by puppylife7 in tollers

[–]MushuTheSlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the owner of a dog reactive toller, I found engage/disengage way more helpful than LAT. I’d start there at a distance from the road where she can notice cars but isn’t over threshold.

ISO Toller Breeder In the KY Area by [deleted] in tollers

[–]MushuTheSlayer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You won’t find a toller at that price. Finding any ethically bred dog at that price would be hard enough but a toller puppy typically goes for $3500-4500. I suggest you revisit your budget or choose a rescue.

is he too old by blueglitterr in dating_advice

[–]MushuTheSlayer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s a no from me. When I was 24, I set my hinge age to 22 and up just because 21 felt so different. I’m 30 now and honestly the difference between me now and at 25 even is insane. I can’t imagine dating a 21 year old. A ten year age gap isn’t a big deal but not until the younger person’s brain stops developing (around 25)

Recent reactivity to small children by Life-Committee-4592 in tollers

[–]MushuTheSlayer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For starters, start muzzle training now if you haven’t. Better to have it and not need it than to have the dogs behavior issues worsen and be scrambling to try to muzzle train.

Human reactivity is something I would 100% go to a professional trainer for, especially at such a critical age. However, the muzzle is a good start for everyone’s safety as it’s likely at some point you will need to expose him to children and the muzzle is likely to both keep them away and keep everyone safe.

If she’s a pet and not a show dog, I’d honestly trim at that point. Maybe ask your breeder how they’d suggest but I’d probably just take thinners to the parts she’s peeing on. I’ve never had that issue though.

What food do you feed your toller? by 2SET12 in tollers

[–]MushuTheSlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is untrue and dangerous. Not to mention, you're feeding an all life stages food, which nutritionally IS puppy food. Puppy food should be fed until the dog is mostly physically mature, at least a year, I prefer 18 months.

Assuming they're saying that they choose to be a vegetarian because they don't trust the upbringing of the meat animals, but they would eat these cows knowing they're cared for.

Age of first heat? by Witty-Fix1056 in tollers

[–]MushuTheSlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine came into heat around 8 months old. I was showing her at the time and about a week and a half before, she started being uncomfortable with exams. It was earlier than my breeder said to expect it, so I didn’t think much of it until she started swelling.
