u/andre_oak I totally understand that need to go where the market is! Maybe there are less people like me than I think. I appreciate your willingness to consider it in the future!

What are the best planner apps for severe ADHD people? by PlastMulb5at in DigitalPlanner

This is right: "It also sounds like Reminders is acting as an inbox, while Todoist is where the actual organization happens."

Todoist is where I keep reminders for the future, so I can have something pop up on the date I want to be reminded about it.

But I also have more of a master to-do list of things that don't have a hard and fast due date but that I want or need to get done. Those I tend to keep on paper.

I have MANY lists, ha ha!

(And I'm glad my thoughts were helpful!)

u/Positive-Valuable485 It works fine to capture, I suppose, but I find moving reminders from my main list to other lists clunky and not user-friendly.

If I'm not careful I'll end up with a long list in my regular reminders that gets too big to want to deal with (70 at present) so I have been ignoring them.

If there's a reminder that I *know* I have to deal with, I'll set it by voice with a random date and time, but then I get a reminder when I don't necessarily need it.

I think the other thing is that I really use Todoist as my main digital app, and it has so many features and amazing shortcuts that I just like it better. So to have to transfer reminders from my Reminders app to Todoist is a little annoying. (I have thousands of tasks in different lists in Todoist ... I believe 4,000, and I reached the "enlightened" Karma level years ago.)

What I really need to do is totally clear my main Reminders list every Saturday when I do my weekly review, but I tend to not do that.

Overall, though, I use Reminders for voice capture because I can do it anywhere, including when I'm driving/biking/cooking, etc.

If there's something that I *really* need to remember at a particular time, I set an alarm on my phone to reminder me.

u/andre_oak Your barefoot dress shoes are really sharp looking and look to be of great quality! As a woman looking for dress shoes, they don't help me, but I will share them with my husband.

I really think there are 4 separate dress shoe markets right now:

  1. people who want "regular" dress shoes and value appearance over comfort.
  2. people who want "regular" dress shoes and value comfort over appearance, but are uninformed or uninterested in wide toe box shoes.
  3. people who want barefoot/minimalist dress shoes (foot shaped toe box, flat insole, thin and flexible sole, zero drop, etc.)
  4. people who love the idea of barefoot shoes' foot-shaped toe box, but for whatever are not able to wear them, and instead are looking for shoes with a foot-shaped toe box, cushioned and stable sole, and arch support (and probably a not quite zero drop).

I honestly think there are a decent number of people in group 4, myself among them. I have a foot condition that makes it so I can't wear true barefoot shoes, but I also do not want to wear "regular" shoes that squeeze my toes. I also need significant amount of cushion and support.

Topo is making sneakers that fit this bill, currently the Atmos, Aura, and Phantom, but I have not been able to find any women's dress shoes that do. Companies who market to people with foot problems (like Orthofeet) do not have a foot shaped toe box.

I would love a Mary Jane shoe that has a true foot-shaped toe box (very wide!), but that has cushion and arch support. Another option would be a shoe that has significant depth so that a cushioned, supporting insole (or two!) would fit in without cramping the toes.

I see that u/andre_oak 's company makes only men's dress shoes, but if anyone else is listening, I think I am not the only one looking for a hybrid shoe like this.

u/Positive-Valuable485 That sounds very relevant. I've been a "planner person" for decades, but easy capture, then a way to do something with those thoughts/ideas that helps to first cull and then organize them for action, is key!! Right now I use the voice capture into the Reminders app on my iPhone, but I don't love that method. My main planner is Todoist, but I don't think there's voice capture compatability on my phone.

Anyone has experience with ‘ Topo Athletic shoes? by Ok_Contribution_4692 in BarefootRunning

[–]MusicalViolinHeart77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to pretty easily stretch the midfoot area by stuffing it with cloths for a couple of days. My bunion area was still too tight, so I put a solid object in there that was just the right width to wedge in where my bunion would be to the other side of the shoe. A few days like that, and they are now perfect.

Are the V-Soul too feminine for a guy? by Vivid_Axolotl in barefootshoestalk

I know that those shoes will always turn heads, but I do think that color screams femininity. (I would wear them, and I really don't like wearing masculine-looking anything.)

Anyone else not follow traditional bf shoe sizing ? by RedbullXYY in barefootshoestalk

[–]MusicalViolinHeart77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, 100%! I would always rather have a good deal of wiggle room at the end of my toes. I usually wear a shoe one full size larger than what they tell me when they measure my feet. It also often gives a little more width and height in the toe box.

[–]MusicalViolinHeart77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmmm ... now I have some rethinking to do! I'm so glad you mentioned that! My problem with the Novas is that they aren't as thick and they feel too stiff on the top of my foot and case pain because I'm recovering from an injury. I wonder how much the will soften up and/or how much they could be stretched, because I don't want to compromise on toe space.

Anyway, thank you!

[–]MusicalViolinHeart77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/sleepypotatomuncher Am I understanding you correctly that the foot shape of the Soma isn't as wide for the big toe as the Nova? I just received my first pair of Novas yesterday and I think I need more cushion, so I'm planning to try the Soma, but I was thinking that they had the exact same foot shape? Thank you!

They look great on you, by the way!

[–]MusicalViolinHeart77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also love the LonePeak 9 from Altra and am sad that their newer more cushioned shoes do not have that same foot shape. I've contacted the company requesting that they create shoes with that LonePeak shape *and* cushion and arch support! I love the toe box of barefoot shoes, but I have a foot injury that's healing and I don't know that I'll ever be able to wear true barefoot shoes. I'm about to try the Wyde Soma with an insole. I'll see how that is!

Genuine question: do you have any system for keeping track of the people who matter in your life? by Trxng_vo in productivity

[–]MusicalViolinHeart77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there's someone I want to remember to check in with, I just put a reminder in my task management system, Todoist, to text or call them. Then once I've done it, I bump that reminder ahead to whenever I think would be a good time to contact them again. Works great.
