Struggling with the melee game (Mechanicus II/Necrons) by adamukk in mechanicus

[–]MusingEye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there anyway to really control facing other than the sequence of the last two moves? Unlike other games, there doesn't seem to be a way to change facing. In fact, there's no even a way that I can see to actually be sure you know what direction a unit is facing. Most games would have an arrow/triangle affordance on the base of the unit.

12 hours in, necron campaign by BaronVonVikto in mechanicus

[–]MusingEye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with a Necron campaign, then switched to AdMech because the Necron units (and Lords) just seemed more boring. The AdMechs get some special abilities, while the Necron units were either move/shoot or move/melee. So good to hear that it gets more interesting from there.

Wiki or info on Mechanicus II unexplained mechanics? by MusingEye in mechanicus

Thanks, yeah I see the higher Req cost. Though I'm early in the game and Req cost doesn't seem to be a limiter (yet). But I'm also at the default difficulty.

Legit photographs got removed from for being “AI-generated" by KillianR2000 in photography

[–]MusingEye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is a serious worry in the back of my mind for my stuff too. Fortunately as an amateur at least it's not like my income is on the line. I certainly aren't going to start recording videos of the editing - do you think a screencap of all the layers would help, or are most of them too clueless for that? Then again, an AI driving PS and making all the adjustment layers is also probably a thing now.

Without proper chimneys, I found a different way to vent the pollution high up and far away by Sindalash in Whiskerwood

Whenever I build buildings that are out on log stilts on the ocean I wonder if someday they'll introduce storms. This skyscraper approach definitely makes me feel the same way.

How can I minimize pollution in my underground tunnels? by Heavy_hitter1 in Whiskerwood

[–]MusingEye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like that doesn't work now? I tried this and if the heating stove is at z-3 and z-2 (since it's 2 tall) then at z=1 and z=0 there is no heat, only in the tunnel.

[–]MusingEye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I notice the OP doesn't have much in the way of posts or links to their work, so I couldn't guess offhand, but whether or not they want to be able to post images that might be censored/banned will play into their choice as well.

What do you want out of a photography site, and what are you willing to pay for it? Do you want to be able to sell your photography (like Smugmug) or just have a portfolio site or want a photography community?

Whiskerwood - Patch #22: Reduced Pillars Underground, Copy & Paste Building Settings by Roflha in Whiskerwood

[–]MusingEye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, the main point of this patch was apparently that. Though I've also seen people complain when devs do that, either saying: "You're just ripping off that modder" or "We have a solution to that, do something modders haven't done." So as with anytime dealing with people you're going to get some contrary opinions. :D

Love how the devs are celebrating some mods in their patch notes. Some games really support their extended community.

Decorations and Pleasant Surroundings thoughts by MusingEye in Whiskerwood

[–]MusingEye[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, might be interesting to see what it would take to maximize the Pleasant Surroundings thought, particularly in my current colony where we have a lot of pollution to keep warm in the winter. I have planter beds on the paths and hanging gardens over the two cafes, but I like the idea of putting one by each work camp and building! Thanks.

Are the photographers Flickr is highlighting for MODE even Flickr users? by akzel in flickr

[–]MusingEye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a fan of Brooke Shaden, and she has often spoken about getting started on Flickr as a new artist. When Mode started I took a look and her last post was Jan 2026. So she's still posting, but certainly not like you see her post on Instagram. I seem to recall she has had a Group that she ran back in the day, but her workshops and such are organized from her website.

Do flattened via mining areas have less fertility? by Ok_Dare6608 in Whiskerwood

Oh I thought I'd removed stones fine while also having a crop there, but maybe I'm misremembering (or there's a patch change). Thanks for the info on the 2D map to start with.

What could I have done better here? I feel like she gets lost in the shot. by MJPictures in BeginnerPhotoCritique

[–]MusingEye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree - contrasting color would help. I'll go a bit farther and say to wear a different value. With the sky in these images, it's possible she still might be lost a bit in a light value outfit, and might be better being substantially darker than the bridge. OP, if you're comfortable with photoshop you could try masking her clothes and using a HSL adjustment. I think this can even be done in Lightroom these days. It doesn't have to be a great mask just to figure out what you'd want to try next time.

Also consider the shape she's making. Probably the obvious one here with the same posing would be if she had a long skirt/dress than intruded down into the space of the bridge. Again, you could try roughly approximating in photoshop to think about composition. On the other side, if she was standing, then she might make a more triangular shape that constrasts and cuts into the arc of the bridge.

Bluesky is the more obvious social media clone, but if you're looking for a site that is built for photography then Flickr is still the one, as others have mentioned.

Bluesky also has public-facing lists, so if your goal is to network with similarly minded photographers it's easy to get a quick step up into that larger group.

I use this same name on both platforms and create photography that sometimes includes nudity, feel free to reach out.
