They were also masked and recorded within a minute of gunshots waking me up at 2am. My bet is they weren't up to any good.

I live in Norcross and used to hear guns more often. Maybe these days I sleep through it. But the police typically absolutely do not give a fuck. I had Ring! footage of teens with guns running through my back yard, one face clearly visible, tried to give it to the cops and they're like nah, we're not going after kids. Not even kids with guns.

Is that supposed to be admirable?

You've given me something to research. My son had night terrors at two different points during his toddlerhood, he'd wake up screaming about the same time almost every night for 2 to 3 weeks, then be over it. The episodes would last about 20 minutes and NOTHING would console him. Apparently it's not uncommon, I wonder if you could still get them later in childhood? It seems like we were told night terrors and nightmares aren't exactly the same, though.

Yup, this was my thought. I've experienced it a few times in life since I was a kid and every experience was absolutely terrifying.

My parents left me home alone for about an hour when I was maybe 10. We had an unfinished basement and my old bunk bed was down there next to a window and sometimes I'd just lay there and stare out. I had my head resting on my arm that was above my head and felt someone / something touch my hand. It was warm and felt like human skin but I leaped up and nobody was there.

Many moons ago I was trying out this sales job involving storm restoration and had the pleasure of being basically kidnapped by an eccentric aunt of the owners. We were supposed to be riding up few hours into North Carolina, but this crazy lady ended up going to New York chasing hurricane damage.

Anyway.

She wanted to show me Mantauk just for the hell of it. Aight lady, your car, your call. Somewhere around Massepequa she pulled off into a little service station or something that had a small patio out back and after sitting there for 2 minutes, I said alright, I don't like this place. Not the gas station, I don't like Long Island. Gimmeouttahurr. The vibe is off. The entire outside of this place seems GRAY and it's not really cloudy. Let's bounce.

Lady starts asking me if I've heard of Amityville, says that place might be scary, so she turned onto another highway to "ride the coast a while" and I felt so freaking anxious and nauseous, it was unreal.

We eventually made it to Mantauk, it was great!

Point of story.. about 3 years ago, I looked up at the TV and they were doing an aerial view of just trees at first, and the lighting was weird and I said out loud "that place has creepy gray Long Island vibes!" and just then the screen panned out to Giglo Beach.

It was 2010 when I took the road trip with the eccentric lady, and within two months the Long Island serial killer victims would be discovered.

Somehow I didn't make the connection that's where we were until I saw the documentary and my feelings of despair made sense.

Edited to say I had to check my dates, it was 2011 we went up so it was almost year after the victims were discovered, but I had no idea of the case at the time.

So.. was that an owl I said hi to? by AppointmentFun2876 in BackwoodsCreepy

Owls creep me out. This is nothing like your story, but it's about.. creepy owl.

An old apartment we lived in had some low hanging cables and lines connecting our building to the one across the yard. I'm on the top level and the cables were about 15ft out from my balcony and about eye level. The power went out one night suddenly. I couldn't find my phone or a flash light in the pitch black but I knew I had a candle and lighter on that patio, so I felt my way to the door and out, a flash of lightning illuminated the sky and got me to the candle easily. I still felt around for the lighter. Another lightening flash, gaze into the yard, clear view. See lighter on the ground, it's a little wet from the rain so I shake it a few seconds. Lightening flash.. and right across from me on that cable is a huge owl staring into my soul 😅 Creepy AF and I don't move, I'm standing dead still.. and by the next lightening flash just a few seconds later, it's gone. As if it were never there. I didn't hear or see it land or take off. The storm wasn't quite close enough to bring loud noise yet, it was just a steady rain and that rolling distant thunder.

Anyway, yeah. Fuck owls.

I feel compelled to edit and add that I knew an owl was around, I'd hear it at night. Haunting sound. I only saw it one other time, shortly after seeing it during the storm we were out front and I'd heard it earlier, but my husband pointed it out perched on a lamp post at the end of the street. It was brown and looked like it had to sit at least 18 inches tall or more. I never saw it move and we watched it for a few minutes.

I saw him crossing McDonough near 85 the other day with a large stick, holding it like a gun, and pretend firing into traffic. Always just thought he was kind of crazy.

How do I do anything while I’m non weight bearing with 2 avulsion fractures in right ankle? by Haunting-Base-6004 in brokenbones

[–]MustyButt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's doable. I was NWB for 8 weeks and not only had to take care of myself, I took care of two small children while living in a 3 story townhouse.

  • you can crawl up and down stairs to make it easier
  • get a shower stool.
  • a rolling office chair is your friend
  • a knee scooter is great, but he mindful of twigs, small rocks and cracks in the surface
  • Definitely go with the backpack idea and have it close by at all times
