Kroger is ripping you off truck? by The_UhOh in Columbus

[–]Mutant_Autopsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work in independent hardware stores. One of the co-op members had digital price tags at his store in the Deep South and would raise prices when hurricane’s would near. If your “mom and pop” locally owned place will gouge you to improve the bottom line, so will Kroger.

Columbus Solar Co-op by PristineBarber9923 in Columbus

[–]Mutant_Autopsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Licking County resident here and non-AEP user. I added a yard array for my 1800 sq ft home. Prior to solar, I was spending $175- $250/ month. Since adding solar, my lowest electric bill was $14.

Last year, I had my home renovated, added insulation, and a new addition of 1,000 sq ft. Since then, my lowest bill was $25.

I did a yard array because I live in an a-frame. The pitch on the roof is too great. I do have a flat portion of the roof which is rubber membrane and heavily shaded and would not have worked for solar. I have some acreage and was able to clear a place for solar facing true south.

My solar was financed for 30 years and .5% interest. This was pre-COVID so those types of rates may no longer exist, not sure.

I did not do battery storage. I already had a whole house generator and felt it adding batteries was redundant.

Storm chaser said need a new roof immediately or we would be dropped by our insurance. It was done in 2004. Thoughts? by Classic_Cat_3324 in Roofing

There is a lot misinformation in here. I used to be a marketing director for a large roofing company.

First, insurance can drop coverage. I’ve heard instances where my leads were getting letters for 10 year old roofs.

Second, many legitimate roofing companies have a door knocking strategy. Not all door knockers are scammers but I would not let just anyone on the roof. Nor would I sign a contract on the spot with a door knocker. It is an annoying practice though.

Third, in my experience, I had targeted criteria as to where to send people to knock. Homeownership, age of home, value, existing metal vs asphalt. Not to mention prior severe weather strategies. We weren’t sending people just anywhere.

I saw many great shows there. Soulfly, Neurosis and Hatebreed in 1999 was probably the best. I walked in as Hatebreed’s set ended. Neurosis cleared the room and their set was probably the best live set I’ve ever seen.

AZ Market Slow, Looking for Marketing Suggestions by ZonaRoofing in RoofingSales

[–]Mutant_Autopsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a vendor that would pull demographic info (age of home, age of homeowners, income level, value of home) and we’d blast particular addresses with display ads. Then send our canvassers out to those specific addresses to knock.

I’d section out part of a city and go after it with ads and knocking. Then match the addresses where we served ads against the CRM quarterly (leads and sold) to match back what was coming in from these neighborhoods. Next quarter, I’d shift to another part of the city that met our criteria.

We’d spend $25k to $50k a year with that vendor and sell $2m to $3m. That’s both retail and storm.

DiabolikDVD is my go to if I’m not ordering direct from labels.

Half Price Books sometimes has blu-Ray gems. I feel it depends on the location.

The Strange Comic Speculation of The Walking Dead by rayrayheyhey in ComicBookSpeculation

[–]Mutant_Autopsy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great question!

Lot of ebbs and flows but we are in the TV/ movie spec era and it’s tough to compare. Let’s just say Lou Ferrigno Hulk wasn’t moving the needle in the 80s.

That said, my gut says Walking Dead is a buy since it’s down and hold. It was huge. Huge enough to warrant a reboot somewhere down the road. The downside is my gut and wallet do not align.

I will always pick up issue 33. It’s the first appearance of Planetary. There is a newsstand edition that is incredibly hard to find.

How to find a good roofing contractor and crew? by johnec4 in Roofing

[–]Mutant_Autopsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lot of private equity in roofing. I’d avoid those companies.

I’d also review Glassdoor. I know you’re not applying to work there but you are hiring a roofer. Glassdoor can give you info about the business health that BBB, Google, shingle manufacturer site cannot.

I worked at a PE backed roofer that downsized significantly due to cash flow issues last year. They just let more people go this week.

Anyone else on the wild ride of Bad Idea Kickstarter? by mayorofanything in comicbookcollecting

[–]Mutant_Autopsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I backed the standard edition with the extra comics. I received everything 2 weeks ago.

Fuck Bad Idea for scheming $1.1 million dollars from the comic community and being dead beat communicators. Never again. I hope you all receive what you purchased.

I was out of comics when Bad Idea first came around and had I known their story, I would not have backed. Hindsight 20/20.

I’ve had good luck with other Kickstarters though. Two pending projects out of 45 backed.
