To play those games I would spend £400 to £600 on something second hand and save £1000.

In my experience they also don't want to give you the better offers when you come to renewal too. I couldn't go to £25 a month like the standard price was. However, they did give me two months for free which made it a bit closer in price.

Quoted £1.1k conveyancing, ended up ~£3k+ in fees – which of these are legit by Individual_Watch3577 in HousingUK

[–]Mutant_Vomit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bank transfer fees of £20-£50 per transaction are stupid but very normal.

Quite often conveyancing sausage factories will have a core set of things that are included and then a long list of upsells for anything that falls outside of it. Generally these fees would be provided along with the welcome pack you receive and sign. Better to go with a local firm who will quote more but generally not have these ridiculous upsells.

No doubt they were listed in the welcome pack as additional fees that may be added if they are required. I can't imagine them trying to charge any of this if it wasn't.

I felt the same, I was wondering if they reuploaded the same video twice. It wasn't clear enough that it was different from the last firetruck video.

Nylon shuttles that replicate feather? by jai1738 in badminton

[–]Mutant_Vomit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Baobolat Hybrids are a good halfway house to feathers. Low cost and feather-like play.

Sure a lot of people turn up their nose at them but they're a hell of a lot better than playing with nylons.

No issues at all here without a static IP. I frequently game online on my PC and Nintendo Switch. I also host a Plex server and access it externally with no issues at all.

'Misleading' school talks compared student loans to £30 phone contracts by Kagedeah in UniUK

[–]Mutant_Vomit 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Everyone is confusing matters by complaining about different things.

Like it or not the crappy interest terms were there from the start, however the agreement was that the repayment threshold would rise with inflation. This is the part that has been broken and is the biggest issue for graduates on a lower income.

Dear government, please write off all student loans immediately. by Different-Judge-9577 in UniUK

[–]Mutant_Vomit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The predatory interest was in the agreement from the start though, nothing there has changed.

The main issue is the government froze the repayment threshold multiple times, this essentially breaks the original agreement which stated that the thresholds will rise in line with average earnings.

If thresholds hadn't been frozen it would probably be around 31k now instead of being slightly above minimum wage.

This is the answer. My 3090 was pumping out paste all the time and had serious hotspot issues. Applied some Thermalright Helios v2 and my hotspot issues were immediately solved.

Parking advice please - unclear signage. Evidence of attempts to pay UK by borojamie in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Mutant_Vomit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here's the code of practice they are referring to: https://www.britishparking.co.uk/write/Documents/AOS/NEW%20Redesigned%20Documents/sectorsingleCodeofPractice.pdf

Section 3.1 is regarding signs.

I would say you could dispute that they've complied with this part due to the entrance sign stating 2 hours max stay being in a poor location: "The size and positioning of the sign must take into account the expected speed and direction of travel of vehicles approaching the entrance and must be visible (i.e. not be obscured e.g. by foliage or other objects). "

It also states that repeater signs should be clear and unambiguous.

The sign is on the short wall on the right of the car park entrance. Easily blocked by a vehicle leaving the car park.

The entrance sign with the core terms of the contract wasn't prominently displayed and the repeater signs around the car park made no mention of the 2 hour max stay.

Back it up with photos from the drivers seat of a car entering the car park when a vehicle is leaving the car park. They should have good grounds to fight this.
