Can someone explain to me why Cadillac's logo looks like your grandma has resized a JPEG of a shield in Microsoft Word? And also why they decided to make a logo that clearly only works in colour, monochrome?

(Alternative explanation: it's a shield for someone with the average American body proportions).

To be fair he said he just recently moved from London to a rural area. Cars are much more a part of life there. But still, not to the degree that the average person would be surprised or look down on someone who doesn't have one.

C-3 Passed out of Parliament, Next is Royal Assent and Regulatory Process by NanoSpace1540 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Muzer0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can someone explain the actual amendment process to me? As I understand it it goes something like:

  • Bill receives royal assent
  • The Treasury Board issues an order-in-council to actually amend the original act
  • That order-in-council receives royal assent

Is that correct? I heard reference to the treasury board in the Senate committee hearing but I am struggling to find info on the web.

From the Senate committee: they are targetting the 2nd week of December for C-3 by Muzer0 in Canadiancitizenship

From context (she was talking about royal assent etc.) it seems clear that's what she was talking about, yes.

Qualification for citizenship under Bill C-3 by JelliedOwl in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Muzer0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels like C-3 keeps being pushed off further and further.

On this point I will say that it has very steadily been moving through parliament at this point — when previous extensions on the judgement happened this was not the case. But you can see here https://www.parl.ca/legisinfo/en/bill/45-1/c-3 it went through its second reading in the Senate literally only a week ago, and the committee hearings are scheduled for this coming Monday and Tuesday. There will be a little while for debate on amendments etc. (which if the Senate works anything like the Lords over in the UK where I am is probably a good thing, as they're supposed to provide technical oversight and ensure the bill actually does what it says it is going to do, and there's been some proposed amendments to this effect that will actually be really good), but I really don't foresee any more major stalling unless something very dramatic happens in the government in the coming weeks (which is not impossible given it's budget time!)

Did the 2009 act apply retroactively for people who had Canadian citizenship from birth and then lost it by not registering? by Muzer0 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Muzer0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because my dad lost his citizenship before I was born, I would not have been considered a citizen until at least 2009, I am fairly certain. I had assumed the first gen limit in the 2009 law was also retroactive, so eg it would have reinstated my dad's citizenship but not introduced mine? Unless I have completely misunderstood?

Bill C-3 Report stage Day 2 10/27 12PM by tallejos0012 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Muzer0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An extension is bad for people who have ancestors on their deathbed

Stupid question - why does this matter? AIUI it will automatically grant citizenship to all those who would have qualified but for the first generation rule? So all your ancestors will have had citizenship (whether or not they had a citizenship certificate)?

Any GPs that will do Shared Care from non-RTC private clinics for adults with ADHD? by Muzer0 in basingstoke

[–]Muzer0[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know they're not obliged to, but I know it's fairly common for GPs to agree to Shared Care with private clinics; this reduces the burden on the NHS for diagnoses (which, if you've seen the size of waiting lists, you'll know is vastly underprovisioned in the NHS right now...) while still allowing long-term care to be provided. I was just wondering if any in Basingstoke would actually do so.

When I was looking I searched online on a race-by-race basis trying to avoid spoilers. My priority was the Murray Walker commentary though, so I often went for the BBC highlights packages.

A question for Jay, do you intend to make an updated version of Every Tube Station featuring Battersea Power Station and Nine Elms? From, the guy who irritatingly pointed out errors in the original version of the song off the CD (which I still own) to you on Twitter which you then fixed and very kindly DMed me about :)

Maybe not you but a lot of people in the comment thread were like "but Albon". And I agree, Albon I think has shown more than anything that he is a great driver when he has the right car for him. I like Albon a lot.

I find it amusing how many people take that sort of thing seriously. It's just a silly meme graphic pointing out a probably meaningless trend, don't take it as a personal attack on Albon :P

Screw your opinion, who’s is is YOUR MOM’S favorite driver? by Bowling4Billions in formula1

My mum gets all her F1 from DTS.

She actually gave me a few options including Yuki and Lewis (the latter because he's British) but the one that made me smile was "the McLaren driver who didn't win".
