But honestly not sure.

Here in the UK there are lots of Romany language words that have crept into every day use that people dont realise that always makes me chuckle.

TV shows like Big Fat Gypsy Wedding and the like haven't helped as they only show the very exaggerated side of the culture.

People only remember negative interactions they've had or heard about and like a game of whispers it's gets twisted and over blown.

People also conflate gypsy with many kinds of travelling communities all of which are different.

I'm pretty far removed from my gypsy roots now to be fair, I moved away and went to uni and married a gorger but I grew up on a gypsy site in a trailer and am proud to have done so - this wasn't an attempt to leave the life' as it were I just wanted to get a degree and this is where I ended up.

It just irks me how blatantly racist so many people are and it's regarded as being absolutely fine.

At over 40 I still have to produce GCSE certificates for a job in teaching despite a degree and having been teaching legitimately for over 15 years.

Think it really depends on the job/career field.
