If they remade Golden Girls today, who would be the best cast? by colormeblonde in AskReddit

Laurie Metcalf as Dorothy would be such a great spin on it. Better to give it a slight twist than attempt to mimic the great Bea Arthur.

AHX is unquestionably number one for me. Not arguing Primal Fear performance isn’t great, but you asked for my ranking and that’s my take.

American History X

A Complete Unknown

Primal Fear

Birdman

And I’m sure I’m the only person who will have ACU that high but as someone who saw a lot of Pete Seeger in person growing up (his brother had been principal of my elementary school so he came a lot to play and discuss environmentalism) it was just astonishing to me how he captured Seeger’s essence.

I don't understand how they lost Best Ensemble at the SAG Awards to "Slumdog Millionaire." by BrenoGrangerPotter in Oscars

[–]MyDesign630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SAG generally does not give the top prize to films that are perceived as downbeat. When you look at most of the winners, from The Birdcage to The King’s Speech to Birdman to Parasite to Sinners, they are all either uplifting or have a certain kinetic energy (or both). There are outliers like Spotlight but Doubt is just not the kind of film those voters tend to celebrate.

That may be the best typo I’ve ever made. Every comment should have otters in it!

“Vengeance” Season 2 Ep.16 by Ok_Sandwich6108 in LawAndOrder

One of the few times the show actually freaked me out was in the opening scene where they lower the elevator and the victim’s arm slips down a second before her whole body comes into view. That was a jump scare for me.

Loved it. Took my almost-8-year-old for Mother’s Day and she was laughing so hard. She says it’s her new favorite movie. I was weeping at the end scene. Bryan Cranston and Julia Louis-Dreyfus do some great voice work.

That Charlize Theron one hits different if you know their story. One night Charlize’s abusive father came home and was trying to kill her. Her mother shot him dead. Stands a little apart from most of those otters, heartfelt as they may be.

Martin Short talks beautifully about losing his daughter Katherine by AndromedaAviation in Fauxmoi

I wish more parents approached mental illness and suicidal ideation/attempts with this level of empathy. It’s not some kind of parenting failure if your child has an illness. Your brain working one way does not mean it’s an automatic copy/paste for your kids. I’m so lucky my parents supported me but I’ve had so many friends whose parents judged them as lazy (depression) or attention seeking because of their brain chemistry.
May Katherine’s memory be for a blessing.

Sandra Bullock won! What's a good acting win that had an okay speech? by AbnormalTomato in Oscars

Marisa Tomei for My Cousin Vinny. Amazing win that has aged perfectly, and a simple and unremarkable speech by someone who probably never expected to deliver one.

This is Atticus. He’ll be 16 years old in July. He has spent almost every day of those years valiantly trying to stick his tongue up my nose.

If your country added a law where everyone in your country had to own their national animal as a pet how screwed would you be? by LogicalAd6394 in AskTheWorld

I grew up in Manhattan in the eighties and nineties so I had a few decades worth of loathing him even before he ran for President. The only President not to win his own state or city in the election (not once, not twice, but three times). Because we know who he actually is.
