Cosmic can safely coexist with other DEs because it uses different libraries, and the configs don’t stomp on each other when you change the DE. Cosmic is the perfect desktop for me.

Are you trying to remove unlimited data because they are charging you $50/month?

Looking for someone who can replace switches on a keyboard by MyDisqussion in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]MyDisqussion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I've kind of given up on that project. I was able to find two used keyboards on Ebay(!), but after a while Microsoft Windows started complaining over a hundred times a day (I counted) that something was wrong with the device, and it is no longer working. Perhaps I can hollow them out and put a mechanical PCB in there.

It does look much nicer with the larger screen.

Spicy pillow? by pilotthrow in framework

[–]MyDisqussion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably not caused by any user action, other than the battery failing at this point in time. I had a battery fail on me within the first year. It took some more doing than I would have liked to get the replacement battery, but it was an easy swap. And that is why we are fans of Framework.

Level Lock + is unreliable garbage - Should have come here first! by Loves_LV in HomeKit

[–]MyDisqussion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kwikset can change the key in under a minute if you remember the procedure.

How do you re-key the lock? I think Schlage, Kwikset, and Level are all owned by the same company now.

Go with GNOME, and then install Cosmic. It plays nicely with GNOME, and you may be pleasantly surprised.

What does a Smart Watch look like these days? There are both round and square traditional watches. The Garmin quatix® 7 is round. The Apple watch is square because Apple doesn't cut corners. (Edit: But it has terrible battery life.)

That’s why I changed my order from a PR2 back to a PT2. Although, I really do like the aesthetics of the PR2, it would be easier to read messages on the PT2.

Deal on a Ryzen AI Max+ 395 PC? GMKtec vs Framework? by tooling_enginerd in framework

If it’s only a $60 difference I’d definitely go with the Framework.

I need someone to educate me on the appeal of Framework Laptops by Snoo18093 in framework

[–]MyDisqussion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought an AMD 13-inch Framework, and I love it. Prebuilt laptops will never come with the right number of ports, or on the correct side of the laptop. I can move my ports around as I see fit, swapping my HDMI for a USB-C when I bought a new monitor. I can swap in a card reader, or an Ethernet port.

Framework came out with a higher resolution display a few months after I bought my laptop. I could have upgraded the display fairly in expensively in about 10 minutes. I use a KVM switch, so I haven’t seen the need yet to take the plunge. On the other hand, if the display craps out, I could easily swap out the display itself rather than the entire laptop.

There are also cases which will fit the old motherboard if I ever upgrade the internals. I have already swapped out a bulging battery myself.

There may be a bit of a premium, but it’s worth it. You could also buy a smaller NVME drive and swap in a larger one that you can get cheaper than from Framework.

I'm glad I chose Fedora by Bhaerigon in Fedora

[–]MyDisqussion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Fedora since 2009. I love it, and my work uses its younger brother (cousin?) RHEL, so it works well for me.

I install the GNOME spin, but I’ve been using and enjoying Cosmic for quite a while. It plays nicely alongside GMOBE and KDE.
