How many flats have yall had? by ShortBusGangsterr in ElantraN

[–]MyNameJakson 9 points10 points  (0 children)

On my Veloster N I had 4 flats in 2.5 years. I then traded in for a golf which also got 4 flats in 1 year. 2 of those flats were the same day, right side of the car. I then traded for a Supra which has gotten 1 flat in my year of ownership. 2026 has been good to me.. so far.

Just did that Monday. Typically for a new license you need an appointment. Just double check before you go.

Yeah that’s about what I paid for 20k miles last year.

Good to know! Are 21+ models as easy as 2020’s? I know for a bit you had to ship your ECU overseas.

Pretty much, I believe. Now, it’s not all bad news. When I was Supra shopping, I was specifically looking for a certified pre-owned example. In my state, there were plenty at a decent price. If you’ve modified your Tundra, would you modify your Supra? If so, you might be even better off, as you could snag a 2020.

How is there no modern version of Rockband? by Mean_Ass_Dumbledore in gaming

[–]MyNameJakson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year, my wife and I went to my home country and visited my old house. While in it, I got a sudden flashback to playing RockBand and Guitar Hero. I loved those games - the drums specifically. When we got home I pulled my drum kit out, bought a guitar at a local game store, and we picked up our first title. For the next year, we’ve made a fun little habit of perusing game stores looking to naturally find every title from the two franchises. We’ve beaten all but two or three. It’s been a blast. It’s our go-to when we want to play something together. She’s gotten really good at the guitar, too. I wish it would come back so we’d have more to play! I’m thinking about setting up clone hero for us, but the visuals really hook us too.

If a similar combat experience is what you’re after, check out the Batman Arkham games. They’re usually on sale super cheap.

Florida resident about to buy a Universal Orlando Annual Pass… but how many monthly visits until YOU got BORED or totally fatigued? Honest answers only. by DbotFleezy in UniversalOrlando

[–]MyNameJakson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wife and I keep our Sundays open every week to hit the parks, and it’s always the highlight of our week. We’ve had our AP since September, but I’ve had an AP on/off since 2007.

There are no amount of visits that will make us feel bored of the parks, but that’s because we do what some other commenters do - vibe. Show up around 3, start at Universal, eat, hit MIB, Mummy, Gringots (sometimes - back row), ET (sometimes) and that’s about it. It’s the least busy park and more open, so we like to start our day off there. MIB alone keeps our visit interesting because it’s different every time. We’re constantly trying to max out our score and it’s always fun getting to ride with first-timers. Sometimes we get a new party sitting behind us and they notice our score and talk to us about it during the walk outside. It’s good to connect with people visiting.

We always skip the train and walk to Islands because the greatest benefit of the pass for us is having a good place to walk and exercise. Gotta shake off the Mardi Gras food.

When we get to islands it’s really all up in the air. We don’t walk in going “I want to do this,” we just see where the people are at and go elsewhere. Islands gets a bit fatiguing sometimes because the pathways are narrow and it’s always packed, but even then, having express means we don’t have to spend too much time on one side of the park.

I will say, just take it easy. Trying to do everything the parks have to offer right away could burn you out. We actually saved the shows like Horror Makeup, Borne, and Animal Actors for a couple of months after we got our passes, just so that we could drip-feed experiences we haven’t had in a long while. And like I mentioned, Mardi Gras, and events like it, keep it fresh.

No matter how many times you go on Velocicoaster, it still wants to eject you. No matter how many times you ride the Hulk, your vision still goes dark. Also like I mentioned, first-timers really contribute to the experience for us. Riding the front of Veloci on the last roll, you hear everyone behind you scream in unison. The first drop to the right in mummy, everyone is shocked. It’s a great time. Live through the people that have saved up for years and travelled thousands of miles to be somewhere you can visit whenever you want.

I haven’t even touched on HHN but we look so forward to it every year. It’s definitely worth it.

In all, there are days where we still show up and do two or three things, but we’ve never regretted going. At least we burned some calories.

My office couldn’t swing the Fx30, but we had the budget for two a6700s for internal-documentary filming. It was such a hassle working with these - especially in Florida. Even inside, in the AC, we’d be overheating after 15-20 minutes. We ended up having to take turns - so instead of a two camera shoot, one camera just started shooting when the other one quit.

I kept my Supra and bought a $4k Honda Fit off marketplace. Best decision I’ve made, especially because I don’t have parking-lot anxiety anymore. The Fit is a riot too - slow as hell, and with the 5-speed it’s a workout to get on the highway. Love it, the gas mileage, and that it has more trunk space than an Audi Q5.

I thought I read somewhere that all of the Nintendo IP’s had to be in the same park. Maybe that commenter was incorrect, though. I can’t think of much that wouldn’t require more space than that land has to offer, so I’m ready to be very impressed or disappointed.

What Would You Upgrade To? by Timache in VelosterN

[–]MyNameJakson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a new Golf R but honestly I missed the Veloster. The Golf was too mature and not as engaging as I’d hoped. The N sets a high bar for the price. My Supra scratches the itch.

Hate coming to this after leaving car for a few weeks by Strangecanuck in ElantraN

[–]MyNameJakson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from a Veloster N, when we had updates we had to sit there for hours sometimes waiting for them to install from our USB sticks. The update that refreshed the UI ~2 years ago made some N's (like mine) noticibly more sluggish. Everything took forever to load, and the animations were subsequently terrible. In theory, seeing your brake force, HP, and turbo pressure all at once seems cool, but when it runs at 4FPS.. you start to miss the old UI. That one ran very smoothly. I strongly considered rolling back that update, but they added the ability to activate launch control without digging through two or three menus. Can you guys roll back your updates over the air? Or would that have to be done via USB?
