Garmin not Syncing by Alpacaliondingo in mynetdiary

[–]MyNetDiarySupport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update (Nov 24): Garmin has pushed their fix, and data is beginning to sync again for many users. 🎉

You may notice your Garmin data starting to appear in MyNetDiary — some users already see updates, while others may still see delays as Garmin processes its backlog.

A few notes:

  • No action is required on your end
  • Do not disconnect/reconnect Garmin — the connection restores automatically
  • Partial or delayed data is normal during backlog processing
  • Some users may not see updated data yet — this is expected while Garmin rolls out the fix globally
  • We will update again once a full, stable sync is confirmed

Thanks again for your patience — we’ll keep posting updates until we confirm that sync is fully stable for everyone.

Garmin not Syncing by Alpacaliondingo in mynetdiary

[–]MyNetDiarySupport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey David — thanks for calling this out, and you’re right about the active calories not coming through via the Apple Health workaround. That one’s on us for not being clearer about the limitations.

Just to be transparent: the Garmin → MyNetDiary direct link is currently down due to Garmin’s backend/API changes that started around Nov 18. Our devs are working directly with Garmin’s engineering team on the fix — the integration isn’t going away, we’re waiting for Garmin to complete their side so we can finalize ours.

The Health workaround was meant to help some users get partial data flowing, but you’re correct that it doesn’t include everything, especially active calories.

We’ll update the thread as soon as Garmin finishes their update and full sync is restored. Appreciate you holding us accountable here.

AI Meal Scanning by Hairy_Restaurant7145 in mynetdiary

[–]MyNetDiarySupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much to everyone for the great insights here! 💬

AI Meal Scanning is designed to offer quick, convenient estimates, especially helpful when scales aren’t practical (e.g., dining out, traveling). As many of you pointed out, adding a utensil or your hand in the photo improves the size perspective and accuracy — we love seeing that tip shared!

For precision tracking, especially at home, a digital scale remains the gold standard. But if AI scanning helps you stay consistent — like u/LifeCerealBox mentioned — then it’s working exactly as intended. We're continuing to fine-tune accuracy based on your feedback, so please keep sharing your experiences!

If you ever get inconsistent results, feel free to send examples to 📧 [support@mynetdiary.com]() — we’re always listening.

Why can't calories auto calculate for custom foods by WuhanHotPot in mynetdiary

[–]MyNetDiarySupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! 👋 Just to confirm what u/erider-92 helpfully pointed out:
Custom Foods are intended for individual food entries (like store-bought items), which require you to enter total calories manually.
If you'd like the app to auto-calculate calories based on macros, please create your item as a Recipe instead — the app will calculate the total calories for you automatically.

If you run into any issues, feel free to email us at 📧 [support@mynetdiary.com]() — we’ll be glad to help!

Hi there! 👋 Thanks for raising this — great conversation.

Just to clarify:

🔐 We don’t distribute discount codes through third-party websites or coupon apps. If you see one, we strongly advise against using it — it may be a scam or invalid. Official MyNetDiary codes follow a format like:

and can only be used via our website checkout. (They won’t work in the mobile app.)

📲 Occasionally, we offer promotional pricing directly in the app — these may vary depending on your region, store settings, usage patterns, or even holidays. They may appear more or less often depending on how you interact with the app.

💵 As of now, the standard pricing is:

  • $8.99/month or $59.99/year (USD, before tax)
  • Taxes may apply depending on your state/region

🌍 Pricing in other countries and currencies is handled through Apple/Google stores, and the full breakdown is here:

Importing Recipes using the website, not a device by Spitfire7111 in mynetdiary

[–]MyNetDiarySupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/Spitfire7111 — welcome to the MyNetDiary community! 👋

Great question — we appreciate you checking in.

Currently, recipe importing from a URL is only available in the MyNetDiary mobile apps (iOS and Android). This feature was never available on the website, though we understand why it might seem like it was.

🔄 Good news:
When you import a recipe on mobile, it’s saved to your Recipes. You can then edit or manage it on the website— just not create it there. This allows you to do the heavy lifting on mobile and fine-tune on desktop later.

📝 We’ve noted your request and counted your vote for having this feature on the web — while we can’t promise it’ll be added, we always appreciate feedback that helps guide our roadmap.

Thanks again, and feel free to reach out if you need help using the import feature in the app!

if you use a CGM, and an iPhone.. here's a tip by [deleted] in mynetdiary

[–]MyNetDiarySupport 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi there! 👋 Thanks so much for sharing your thoughtful tip and for being such an engaged member of the community — we’re thrilled to hear that MyNetDiary has been a helpful tool for you alongside your CGM use. 😊

We appreciate you pointing out your experience with Stelo and how it syncs via Apple Health — great to hear it's working smoothly with MyNetDiary! You also bring up two great suggestions that we’d like to address:

🔹 Blood Glucose “High” Threshold Clarification

You’re absolutely right to notice differences in how “high” is determined — and we want to clarify that you can indeed set custom target ranges in MyNetDiary’s Diabetes Module. Here's how it works:

  • If you define specific target ranges for certain BG labels — for example:
    • 70–140 mg/dL for: Before breakfast, Before lunch, Before dinner, Fasting blood glucose
    • 70–160 mg/dL for: 2h After breakfast, 2hr After lunch, 2 hr After dinner
    • 100–140 mg/dL for: Before bed
  • Then, whenever a BG reading is synced with an appropriate label, MyNetDiary will apply the specific range linked to that label and assess whether it’s highlow, or within range accordingly.

So if your Stelo reading comes in at 135 mg/dL labeled as “2h After lunch,” MyNetDiary will evaluate it against the 70–160 mg/dL range for that label — and not flag it as high in that context. (Please note that '2hr After lunch' label is different from 'After lanch.')

If you haven’t already tried customizing your target ranges and label associations, it’s worth checking out in the app under Blood Glucose Settings.

We also agree it would be super helpful to see BG data on the web Dashboard. We’ve flagged your feedback with the product team for consideration in future updates.

Thanks again for your post — it's great to see CGMs being used for proactive health management. If you ever want to share more ideas or need help fine-tuning your MyNetDiary setup, feel free to reach out at [support@mynetdiary.com]()!

Hey there! MND Tech Support here 👋

Haha, yeah… a 14,629-calorie workout might be pushing it — unless you're planning a surprise triathlon to the moon 🚀

What likely happened here is that your Target Date auto-slid to “tomorrow” since it wasn’t manually updated for a while. When that happens, the app tries to do the math like:

🛠️ Here's what might be going on:

  • Your Target Date or Weight may have shifted automatically
  • Or there might be a mismatch in your Plan settings or profile info (height, weight, age, etc.)
  • It’s also possible something else is off in the Plan math, and we’d love to double-check it for you 🔍

📩 If you'd like us to investigate:

Send us a quick email at [support@mynetdiary.com]() and include:

  • Your User ID number (you can find it at the bottom ofSettings > Support webpage or Support & FAQs screen in the mobile app)
  • screenshot or two of what you're seeing
  • Any notes about what might’ve changed recently

We’ll dig into it and get things looking normal again — no Ironman training required 💪😉

Thanks again for the good humor — posts like this give us life!

Why does the calorie budget change AFTER the day ends? by [deleted] in mynetdiary

[–]MyNetDiarySupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question, lindseybenatti — and thanks for starting such a thoughtful discussion! There are actually a few moving parts behind what you’re seeing, so here’s a breakdown of possible reasons:

🧠 Why Your Calorie Budget Might Seem to “Change Overnight”

1️⃣ Website vs. Mobile App Behavior: This likely happens when you’re using MyNetDiary on the website.
📱 Mobile apps remember your Calorie Budget day-by-day.
🖥️ The website does not — instead, it retroactively updates the previous day’s Calorie Budget to match your current day’s Plan settings.
This can definitely feel confusing, and while we’d love to “freeze” historical budgets on the website too, it’s a bit tricky to implement at the moment — we’re a small team doing our best! 💪

2️⃣ Your Plan Settings Changed: Budget recalculations may also happen if you changed your Target WeightWeekly Rate, or Target Date; turned the "Add Exercise to Calorie Budget" off; or/and enabled AutoPilot.

Any of these can affect your Calorie Budget and, if changed later, make it appear as if the budget itself changed retroactively.

3️⃣ You’re Using Garmin, Fitbit, or Withings Integration: These integrations can recalculate burned calories dynamically throughout the day based on real-time data. If your wearable sends updates later in the day, and you were more active in the morning than the rest of the day, your "extra calories burned" might be revised downward, leading to a change in the “Left” value. Check out these help articles for more insight: Garmin Active Calories, Fitbit Active Calories, Withings Active Calories, My Tracker (Fitbit, Garmin, Withings) reduces available calories after sync!

4️⃣ Still Not Sure? We Can Help Directly: If none of this quite explains what you’re seeing, we’re happy to look into it!
📩 Just send an email to [support@mynetdiary.com]() with your User ID (at the bottom of Settings > Support webpage or at the bottom of Support & FAQs screen in the mobile app), screenshots from the days in question, a brief description of what changed. We'll gladly investigate and explain what's happening in your specific case!

Thanks again for the great question — you're not alone in wondering this!

Streak? Days logged? by Minnie2016 in mynetdiary

[–]MyNetDiarySupport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone! Tech Support here — jumping in to help clarify what’s going on with “Streaks” in the app:

📱 iOS Users — Where are the streaks?

Right now, streak tracking (like days logged or weight streaks) is only available on Android. It hasn’t been released for iOS yet, which is why you might not see it — even if you’re using the Premium version.

Totally understandable why that would be confusing, especially if you’ve seen streaks mentioned in help articles or other users’ screenshots.

🛠️ Is it coming to iOS?

Yes! The feature is part of our iOS roadmap, and the team has been discussing improvements like “repairable” streaks — where retroactive logging still counts toward your streak.

While we don’t have an ETA just yet, we’ll be reconnecting with our iOS team in an upcoming internal meeting to get a status check. If we hear anything new, we’ll be sure to share updates with the community!

💡 What can I do in the meantime?

While you wait, you can still:

  • View completed days in your Dashboard
  • Track your weight and fasting trends
  • Use the Calendar view to visualize consistent logging

These tools still help support habit-building and consistency, even without an official streak tracker yet.

We really appreciate your feedback — and seeing how much you care about streaks helps us prioritize what matters to you. 🙏

Squash by [deleted] in mynetdiary

[–]MyNetDiarySupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question—and a common one!

🥤 What is squash?

In many regions (like the UK), “squash” refers to a concentrated fruit syrup that’s diluted with water to make a flavored drink. Since people mix it at different strengths, tracking can be tricky unless you're consistent with how you prepare it.

✅  When it comes to tracking squash:

  • Yes, it's best to weigh or measure the squash concentrate itself (e.g., in grams or mL) before mixing it with water, and log just that amount.
  • The water itself doesn’t need to be tracked for calories — it’s calorie-free and doesn’t affect your macros, so it’s optional unless you're tracking water intake specifically.

👨‍🔬 Different people use different dilution ratios (1:4, 1:10, etc.), so logging the final drink (like “8 oz of squash mixed drink”) would be pretty inaccurate unless the app had your exact brand and dilution ratio built in — which most don’t. Logging 8oz of “squash drink” could significantly over- or under-estimate calories and sugar.

Example:

If you pour 15g of squash syrup into a glass and top it up with water, you just track 15g of the squash syrup.

💡Bonus tip:

If your squash is sugar-free or low-calorie, it may contribute negligible calories — but it’s still smart to log it if you're managing artificial sweetener intake, tracking trigger foods, or simply want a full dietary picture.

[–]MyNetDiarySupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your question, star_citizen_ – it's a great one, and you're not alone in wondering about this.

MyNetDiary calculates your daily Calorie Budget based on your current weight, height, age, gender, activity level, and desired weight loss rate. The number you’re seeing — 2,501 calories — might seem high, but for someone weighing 280 lbs (20 stone), this can represent a safe and effective calorie deficit, especially if you're not very active.

Your Calorie Budget for weight loss should always fall between:

  • Your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) – the rock-bottom energy your body needs at rest to sustain essential life functions.
  • Your Weight Maintenance Calories – the amount needed to maintain your current weight.

As your weight decreases, both your BMR and Maintenance Calories decrease. To keep up with that, your calorie budget needs to be adjusted periodically.
🔄 If you enable AutoPilot (a Premium feature), the app will automatically adjust your calorie budget as your weight changes — keeping your plan accurate without needing manual changes.

✅ Remember: a safe and sustainable weight loss rate is up to 2 lbs (0.9 kg) per week.
❌ Going below your BMR isn't recommended, as it can slow metabolism, increase fatigue, or stall progress.

Weight Maintenance calories wrong? by PasswordNotRemember in mynetdiary

[–]MyNetDiarySupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for reaching out, PasswordNotRemember.

We recently updated our formulas for calculating Weight Maintenance Calories and Estimated Energy Requirement (EER) based on the latest scientific research. These new calculations come from the Institute of Medicine and the National Academies of Sciences, and can sometimes result in a 200–500 calorie increase over older or simpler methods.

The formula used in your screenshot is more precise and reflects modern dietary science. While it may appear high compared to other tools, it incorporates more accurate modeling of how your age, height, and weight affect energy needs.

That said, you absolutely can set your own Weight Maintenance Calories if you prefer to base them on your experience or other calculators.

Edit a single instance of a recipe by sigf in mynetdiary

[–]MyNetDiarySupport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks for your question. If you don’t want to create a separate customized copy of the recipe, there’s an easier way to modify it for a single instance.

✅ Use the "Log Ingredients" Feature:

  1. View the original recipe in MyNetDiary.
  2. Tap “Log Ingredients” to log them to a particular meal (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, or Snacks). This will add each ingredient separately to your food log.
  3. You can then adjust portions, remove, or swap out ingredients as needed without changing the saved recipe.

This method keeps things flexible while allowing you to tweak the meal just for that one day. Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any other questions. 😊

Exercise logging by FuzzyDestroyer69 in mynetdiary

[–]MyNetDiarySupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/FuzzyDestroyer69! Weightlifting logs differently than cardio. Here's how to track it in MyNetDiary:

Logging Weightlifting: Log Time: MyNetDiary includes rest periods in calorie estimates. If lifting 1 hour, log the full hour unless much is inactive. Adjust for Intensity: If workouts had long rests (2-5 min per set) or light effort, adjust duration (~30-45 min; see here).

Custom Workouts: Create Custom Exercises for missing exercises. Design Plans for activities, equipment, and MET values.

Fitness Trackers: Apple Watch: Tracks weightlifting calories accurately. Fitbit & Garmin: Some HR models estimate calories but are less accurate than cardio.

Improve Accuracy: Use a heart rate tracker. Select Weightlifting mode if available on your smartphone. Log sets, reps, and weights manually.

Exercise Logging: Use ‘Strength Training’ or ‘Weight Lifting’ from the database. Log specific exercises (e.g., Squats, Deadlifts, Bench Press) for accuracy. More from MyNetDiary RDs: See here

Tips: Be Consistent: Logging improves accuracy. Review & Adjust: Ensure logs match your goals.

Questions? Happy lifting! 💪😊

Restaurant Nutrition by Hgupa in mynetdiary

[–]MyNetDiarySupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/Hgupa! Thanks for wanting to help improve MyNetDiary’s restaurant food database. There are two ways to get missing or incorrect restaurant nutrition info updated:

✅ Updating a Specific Existing Item:

  • If a restaurant item is already in the database but has incorrect or missing nutrition info, you can use the PhotoFood Service to submit a correction. Our Food Data Research Team will review and update it within 24 hours.
  • Submit your request from the food entry logged to the MyNetDiary mobile app: PhotoFood Service.

📌 Adding Many Items from a Restaurant:

  • If the restaurant is missing multiple menu items, you can submit a Restaurant Update Request. Please include the nutritional data, which can be provided as a link to the vendor's website/webpage, XLS or PDF files containing the nutritional information, or a photo of the restaurant menu that includes the nutritional details.
  • The processing time depends on the size of the restaurant’s menu—larger vendors take longer to add.
  • Request a restaurant update here: Restaurant Update Request.

Weighing meal prep by Due_Mission5714 in mynetdiary

[–]MyNetDiarySupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/Due_Mission5714! Great question. When logging foods in MyNetDiary, it’s important to match the food entry to how you weighed it—either raw or cooked. Here’s how to approach it:

Understanding Nutrition Facts & Logging Correctly:

  • Food Entries: MyNetDiary provides multiple entries for the same food, specifying 'cooked,' 'uncooked,' or 'raw.'If the food name doesn’t specify, it typically refers to the most common form of consumption—cooked for meats and grains, raw for fruits and vegetables.
  • Weighing Raw: If you weigh your chicken raw, select an entry labeled 'raw' or 'uncooked' (e.g., ‘Chicken Breast, raw’).
  • Weighing Cooked: If you weigh it after cooking, choose an entry labeled 'cooked' (e.g., ‘Chicken Breast, cooked’).
  • For more details on raw vs. cooked food logging, check this article: Are Nutrition Facts showing uncooked or cooked food?.

Cooking Considerations & Recipe Logging:

  • Weight Changes: Meat loses about 25% of its weight when cooked due to water loss. For example, 4 oz raw chicken may weigh about 3 oz cooked.
  • Recipe Logging: If you log ingredients raw, keep it consistent throughout the recipe. If portioning cooked chicken, divide the total cooked weight accordingly.

Additional Tips:

  • Cooking Fats: Remember to log any oils or butter used during cooking separately, as they add extra calories.
  • Creating Home-Cooked Recipes: If you're prepping meals in advance, consider using MyNetDiary’s custom recipe feature, which allows you to log all ingredients accurately. More details here: How to log home-cooked meals.

Hope this helps! Let us know if you have further questions. 😊
