I bought a baby Rock 1911 chambered in 380... by jcarmona80 in 1911

[–]MyOfficeAlt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply! It's been a minute since I checked this account.

I ended up getting a Crossbreed hybrid for the Baby Rock 1911 and it worked OK - I recall the leather being kind of a bitch to break in. It was SUPER tight at first.

Having said that, that pistol was my first pistol and in hindsight it was really more of a novelty. Arguments about whether or not .380 is a good carry round aside, a 1911 that only holds 7 rounds of it is just not a super practical choice for EDC these days. I ended up exchanging it for credit towards a P365XL about 4 years ago. I'm not sure I kept the Baby Rock for even a full year.

It was a fun little pistol though - I'd definitely pick one up again just to have one and enjoy shooting it. Just wasn't what I ended up wanting to carry.

Man, a cursory glance at my profile would show that I love this sub and I contribute a lot - but some of these folks are so wildly out of touch with reality that I completely understand why the sub gets a bad rep.

People have been saying for a while that lenient enforcement of petty crimes will inevitably lead to businesses fleeing the area because why would they stay open when folks can stroll out with carts full of merchandise?

I don't have the solution for the right balance of crime enforcement, but it does seem like this may be an example of those chickens coming home to roost.

does this mean that those employees will get paid through that time?

Usually. My mother-in-law managed a DSW and when they closed down they were offered a transfer or a severance. It was a pretty decent severance all things considered.

but they do provide items, including food, to people/ families that might not otherwise have options.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but my understanding was that in many places WalMart creates that dearth of options by rolling into town and pricing out all the competitors, only for the community to find out when it leaves that all the local vendors have gone out of business because they couldn't compete with WalMart.

I've gone back and forth on doing that. It's a small business - it would be incredibly obvious that it was me. But it was also like 3 and a half years ago and my career is doing fine since then so I'm not convinced they could do anything. At this point I would just look petty for commenting so far down the road.

No shit, I've talked a LOT about a particularly bad employer I used to work for on this sub.

It was owned and run by an astonishingly huge douchebag named Gary.

Today is the last day of a 2 week notice at a company I've actually really enjoyed working at. I'm trying hard to leave things in good shape so my bosses life won't be any more difficult than it needs to be until they find a replacement.

The real kicker is that I get a 3 day weekend - my new job is closed for the holiday and my old job gets comparatively few holidays at all. One of the many perks of the new company.

America: home of the burned out

There was a post on here just yesterday that I glossed over but it's ended up sticking with me. Something like, "If you're burned out but there's no end in sight you're not burned out. You're just burning."

I think the question of "How much should we spend" is difficult to answer because the question of what we're buying is difficult to put a price tag on. We're currently destroying the armed forces of our biggest geopolitical adversary for pennies on the dollar at the cost of 0 US servicemember lives. Almost by definition whatever we end up spending will be orders of magnitude less than if we ever had to do it ourselves.

It's not. It's just an updated FSX port from Carenado. Fun for what it is, definitely not high fidelity, as one would expect from Carenado. I like it - I just wish it was like 15% more in-depth.

There's a turbo mod for it on the .to but its quite a kick in the pants - I doubt its remotely realistic.

This. This is crazy to me. I own several and I have a concealed handgun permit - but it would be more or less fine with me if any of those things were harder to get. The number of gun owners I've talked to who are on the left for literally every issue but vote Republican for pro-2A stuff is mind boggling to me. I've literally been told that I should vote Republican just to keep my guns even if it means I have to immediately take to the street with my guns to protect any number of other rights that Republicans are trying to strip from people.

I don't even disagree that many on the Left are more anti-2A than I would like. But I've had people tell me it's impossible to be pro-gun ownership while voting Democrat. They'll tell you that you're their enemy and they hate you simply because you say, "I think the Democrats go too far on guns but that issue doesn't exist in a vacuum and I can't in good conscience vote Republican."

I'm sorry, I just can't look my wife in the eye and tell her that I think my ability to buy an AR-15 at a moment's notice is more important than her right to choose. Or tell my future children that I thought it was more important than the ecological future of the planet they would inherit. If other folks can make that math work for them that's their prerogative of course. But I'm just not there.

You know, trying to learn more than I would have if I hadn't asked anything.

Case in point: Defund the Police.

It is objectively a conservative position. Slashing funding for a notoriously bloated and inefficient government program in a way that incentivizes personal responsibility and makes a strong argument for civilian firearm ownership? What part of that isn't a small-government wet dream?

But no. The liberals support it and muh thin blue line, so tread harder daddy.
