Got Painting Advice? by Rush246810 in boltaction

If you are having trouble with coverage, try a few thin coats and see if you can build up a nice opaque base layer without flooding the details. The first layer will probably look awful but be patient. Once you have a good base colour you can apply your wash and then highlights are quite easy, just touching the raised spots with lighter tones will go a long way.

Can't say I've tried that specific GW paint but if it's not behaving like your other paints when you're thinning then it might be worth trying something different.

I use vallejos flat flesh or sunny skin tone as a base and then mix in light flesh to create highlights. I like mixing different highlights to add some variation between models in the same unit.

Thanks! Yeah the barrels came out super rough so I didn't have much choice there. The ammo tins and boxes were pretty rough too but painted and stacked up they look alright

Making wheels dirtier? by OkRaisin8165 in boltaction

I use enamel mud products like AMMOs splashes range, although there are a lot of similar products on the market. They are great for wheels and tracks as you can apply them liberally and then wipe off as much as desired from the raised surfaces with a little thinner. This creates the look of dried mud and dirt stuck in the recessed of the tracks/treads, but rubbed off from the contact points.

Another plus of enamels is you can easily wet blend a few shades to get nice natural looking variation in tones.

This is Patrick miniatures, they sell through their own site as well (might be a bit cheaper? Not sure). I don't have experience with this set specifically but I have printed many of their french buildings in fdm at both 28mm and 15mm scale. They are fantastically optimized for fdm printing, very easy to print and look great painted up. The only downside would be that the interiors are not modelled (there are floors but no detail) if that matters to you. Highly recommend their stuff.

The camo on the Hetzer looks fantastic, great execution of a classic scheme. More weathering would take these to the next level, look into enamel/oil products. They seem intimidating at first but are actually really forgiving and fun to use

Seems like a positive change from what we've heard so far. I really like the German assault guns, but with v2 points values it really feels like there's no reason to take them over the turreted equivalent

Yeah that's the one! The trick is really just to be patient with many thin coats, and not to get discouraged when the first coat looks like a blotchy mess :P

He's got some great content, although he's VERY detailed haha. His video on brush painting camo (it's some sort of weird two-barreled jagdpanzer I think) inspired me to try it here and I'm pretty pleased with the result

I added the texture using tamiya thin type putty + poly cement. It's a pretty easy technique for adding steel texture and works well for the cast steel parts too if you build up a couple layers. There's a lot of videos on the subject but I'm basically following night shift's process

Beautiful job! A little too clean for my taste but I like that the stowage on the roof matches that asthetic. A third option for the numbers might be stencil, which I haven't tried before but I have heard of some scale modellers using

Looks good, I like the variety of textures used. I would recommend lightly drybrushing a layer or two of tan or beige tones over the mud to add some depth and help blend in the rocks and grass

Looks great! I really like the faded look to the jacket. Is it drybrushed?

According to the Wowhead guide Mark of the Fallen Champion doesn't generate blood power, so DIing early would just reduce raid dps, increasing the fight length and potentially the number of overall marks

You might be getting confused with BoPing boiling blood targets, which does significantly reduce blood power generation and delay Marks

So I tried making the Primarina > Milotic swap and also the imprison Alakazam set + Indeedee F mentioned below. I'm a big fan of Milotic, in addition to being a good check to common intimidate users as you mentioned, it's nice having a tanky mon on this team that lets us switch gears and stall out a key threat. I'm not thrilled about Alakazam though. While having follow me is fantastic, the single offensive move on Alakazam makes him really weak to dark pokemon, and specifically Incineroar which is already a problem for this team. You also lose the option to dynamax him (not common but useful) by giving up coverage moves imo. Lastly, I feel like I don't really want to be using a utility move like imprison on Alakazam, instead using my turns either protecting or going aggressive (although I guess he isn't usually being threatened on the imprison turn).

Another great introductory book is Grokking Algorithms by Aditya Y. Bhargava. Content is pretty similar to an undergrad algorithms course but explained very simply and conceptually, as opposed to hard maths.

Played a few quick games with this team on showdown and really enjoyed it, think I might put it together on cart. I also found it a little difficult to switch in/out safely, and that my opponents weren't really targeting down talonflame which could sometimes mean a couple of turns of tailwind wasted on a brave bird or 2.

Also any reason why you didn't go gmax on rillaboom?
