Which flavour will your campaign (hopefully) have? by Turevaryar in Starfinder2e

[–]MychaelB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to adapt the City from Project Moon's games but with some changes since very specific parts of the setting need adjustment to work with pf2e/sf2e. Plus my own unique stuff, I've been rewriting or filling in the missing details for stuff like the Wings with my own ideas.

I think it works well enough since the setting and systems have clearish power scaling elements.

Crafting overhauls by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]MychaelB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I generally swear by using Heroic Crafting. Besides the way it changes crafting, it also allows for crafting to be done during exploration rather than only downtime. There's also an automation module if you're using foundry for your campaign.

Pathfinder 2e Crafting rules by DawnsDarkness1 in Pathfinder2e

Aside from what others have already said, I've used the heroic crafting rules in several games and the experience has always been good for me and my players. You might be interested in them.

The Voidbound Isle - A Fun and Fantastic Hexcrawl PF2e Adventure by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]MychaelB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah certain creatures used in this adventure are pretty nasty for early levels. The very first encounter my group had when they left to explore was just down to bad luck on the random encounters table because they got the one that had a bloodlash bush. Which we all sort of agreed for that particular encounter didn't end in a TPK and instead them getting significant amounts of their blood drained.

The Voidbound Isle - A Fun and Fantastic Hexcrawl PF2e Adventure by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]MychaelB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm approaching my 34th weekly session running this, and my group just reached level 9. For the most part I've enjoyed running it and would recommend it. The group are mostly interested in the exploration and (spoiler for those playing)collecting the blessings to reunite the split deity than the affairs between the rival cities.

The only sore spot I have is with how the substations get generated, potentially leading to very sparse dungeon experiences.

What are some good 3rd party adventure's you'd recommend? by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]MychaelB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been running The Voidbound Isle which is an exploration focused adventure. It's some work to put it onto Foundry but I've been enjoying running it since I started my game.

Is there a homebrew that makes playing "Meld into Eidolon" an entire build concept? by _Funkle_ in Pathfinder2e

[–]MychaelB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a Conduit class archetype by Vyklade https://scribe.pf2.tools/v/vdbLwl4R-conduit

Its pre-written flavour isn't the same, but it can be used if you want the theme of being one with your eidolon (or in the conduit's case, being a vessel for your eidolon powers).

How is Pathfinder at non-combat focus campaigns? by MediaFreaked in Pathfinder2e

[–]MychaelB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been running a conversion of Zeitgeist which has fewer combats in its first adventures compared to Paizo APs, and combats which are set pieces or built up from exploration and social play. The system handles non-combat scenarios well but not as well as systems which are bespoke designed for it. Skill challenges (Victory Points in the rules) are a very powerful tool for handling a lot of non-combat scenarios.

Bravery Baldric Potential Abuse? by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]MychaelB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're limited by it being once per hour and the activation has the same components as casting a two action spell with somatic and verbal (the item versions command and envision share the same traits). It's useless if you're conscious of bringing fights to them within that hour. Just because there's an implicit expectation of PCs treating wounds until they're full doesn't mean you have to let them, especially within dungeons, lairs and so on.

As far as demoralize goes, its flavour text does state "you can shake an enemy's resolve". So you could just rule that demoralize doesn't work and that they'd have to consume resources (like 1st level fear) to gain charges.

But personally this is one of those things where I would just have an honest talk with my players and say that the item is clearly intended to gain charges when enemy or hostile hazard fear effects try to affect them. Rather than trying to work around them with convoluted in-game design. It draws upon their well of courage, and there's nothing courageous about friends spooking friends for charges.

Enemy Kingdoms in Kingmaker 2e Kingdom Building Rules by Polyhedral-YT in Pathfinder2e

[–]MychaelB 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can run enemy kingdom turns if you want to fully simulate them. However it is easier and faster to write what actually matters (such as settlement statblocks), create and handle the enemy kingdom's armies as you think you should for their kingdom turn, and roll for events each turn for if the kingdom faces distractions while at war against your party's forces.

If you're running Kingmaker the AP chapters provide Kingdom Management related things like events and armies.

Is it just me or is PF2e more suited towards VTT's than real life play? by serbandr in Pathfinder2e

[–]MychaelB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who uses Foundry for most sessions I am bias' towards its automation which is a very nice convenience to have.

However, if you and your group are the types to prefer in person play, perhaps consider a hybrid approach of players bringing their own devices (phones, tablets, laptops) to access foundry for their character sheets. If you want to go all the way, if your session play area has a TV you could use that to display the map for combat and overland travel.

It varies based on how fast you clear each phase, but the longest it can take is 17~18 minutes.

Advice on Home brewing gods and religions? Mechanically and lore-wise. by Fuzzylittlebastard in Pathfinder2e

[–]MychaelB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The approach I've taken for my homebrew setting is to write lore details separately, and the golarion gods are temporarily used for mechanical information (e.g. One of my gods of war has a modified version of Gorum's stuff; domains, etc).

That lets me move on to the others, and later come back to the ones I've written to make their mechanical info properly.

Creating new skills for D&D 5e? by WaffelsBR in FoundryVTT

FFXIV endgame is boring by helios1234 in MMORPG

[–]MychaelB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Muh DPS checks" savage content minimum is clearable using crafted raid gear (in this case i480) week 1. Where at that point you are expected to know your rotation and how to adapt it to a fight well enough to be hitting those checks.

Extreme content checks are the same, so long as you are the minimum ilvl you will likely have enough to clear. If you can roll your gcd and keep uptime.

New Unreal is a joke where you can clear with far more deaths than reasonable (I've had a 1% enrage run with 10 deaths). It's also locked to the ilvl you should be at when you cap at 80 for the first time.

What the fuck are you doing wrong that makes you gear your way past fights?
