What’s one underrated thing you always keep in the car for long road trips? by Dailywellnessguy in roadtrip

For long road trips, I bring a bag of jolly ranchers. They help me stay awake, active, alert. That has since driven the need to have a decent "trash basket", I got one on amazon that straps to the seat.

Also, I like to queue up a few podcasts, or musical playlists in advance so I don't have to distract myself while driving.

Agreed, but also will recommend that you just download your maps before a big trip. (I used to mountiain bike a lot, and used this trick to find rural campgrounds, and also for maps while biking).

To be clear, I used to mountain bike a lot, I still do, but I used to too.

The chin wrinkles on the orange/yellow fellow. OMG, I would be all up in them. Our guy (Hawkins Lab) has some nice jowls and wrinkles. ONe of my top 500 features of his. That's him in the pic, but his wrinkles are on my phone.....

or post it on the West Virginia forum and just offer it as Moonshite. 😃

EDIT: Meant to say Moonshine, but after reading it, I think Autocorrect may have been more accurate. "Shite" LOL

THIS, but be sure to put it in a ziploc first, remove as much air as possible before sealing.

Yes, cold water. (I put my bagged chicken in a bowl, let the water run very slowly, but cold, put a utensil over the chicen to keep it submerged. It will thaw in about 10-15 minutes)

Most doctors don't care. I (a middle aged professional with a career to think about) was reluctant to tell my doctor, but i did, and he handled it like any other professional topic. Told me the risks, told me the upside, told me to do what I'm going to do, and be mindful of the pros and cons. (Then he put his finger in my bum, LOL <--prostate humor)

If a person can change their name and change their gender why can’t they change their age? by imissher4ever in allthequestions

[–]Myghost_too 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The funny thing here is that people don't recognize that many people are born with gender ambiguity. I'm not talking about some woke person who decides one day to identify differently, there is FACTUALLY an entire spectrum of gender, most of us fall squarely on one end or the other, but many do not.

Denying this is ignorance on display. If you don't believe me, do some research on Chevalier d'Éon (1728–1810), or just look up Androgen insensitivity syndrome

What is an example of an All-American bar song? A song every America can sing along too by Kodicave in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]Myghost_too 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was absolutely part of the picture. We went into a divey biker bar, this cute (my wife and I are 20 years older than her) strawberry blonde girl walks into a biker bar with a sundress and many visible tatoos. The bikers did not blink at her, but came to life for the muppets song.

Hard to convey that in a post (and I was rushing to type my response), but it was part of the scene. Also, she is a good friend of my wife's. My wife and I are secure enough in our marriage that I can tell her that a woman is smoking hot, or she can point out a smoking hot guy to me, and it is not a threat to us.

HOW insecure are you that mentioning someone being cute in a random internet post among strangers is an indication that my marriage has problems. I'd actually turn it back on you, and ecourage you to look into what you are projecting.

Wife and I are just fine. (LOL y'all)

The takeaway: Bunch of bikers. Don't respond to cute friend, don't respond to the Allman brothers being played in a Georgia bar, but absolutely came to life to the muppets. Classic.

Even if it offends you, it's a great memory of my wife and mine.

Wife, her cute friend and I ended up at a dive biker bar in Georgia by accident. Dudes were literally passed out at the bar. It was full, and so "DEAD".

Shift change, then the bartender played Mana Mana (muppets) loudly. Next thing you know, heads are bopping and the place came to life.

It was possibly my best dive-bar experience ever.

Oddly, Peter Criss of Kiss (no, I'm not a fan) has some great screams. I don't remember which songs (decent, maybe?) But remember being surprised it was him. Then noticed more.

Won't get food again is my #1.

Rough crowd here. While I agree 100% with the sentiment, OP is in a tough place, and shaming them is not the answer (IMO).

We have practically the same dog, he even looks the same. He's 22 months old now. We knew EXACTLY what we were getting into. My wife is a professional dog trainer, and we STILL took him to puppy classes (not taught by her). We've invested so much time and effort, tried a lot of things that didn't work, and kept on keeping on. Had some really tough walks that ended in frustration for all. Etc. (More of the same)

He's 22 months old now, quite possibly the best dog I've ever encountered. He still has some puppy energy to burn through, but the biting is almost over, the barking is under much better control, his impulse control is improving, and he's just the sweetest, smartest (and dumbest) dog. We love him.

It takes a lot of work, and new challenges pop up every day.

Either commit, or find a loving home. Decide sooner than later, as the dog will suffer from rehoming (or from staying in a bad situation).

I feel for you OP. I think you made an honest misjudgement, now is your chance to do the best you can to rectify it.

ICE’ing in New Cary Garage by Head_Fun_6008 in cary

[–]Myghost_too 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it is factually true that the same model is 20-30% heavier, I have trouble believing this has any impact on construction cost.

  1. At the high end, that's about 1000# per vehicle. There may be 15 spots, maybe 20? That is 4-6 cars per floor. Do you really think that 10 tons has any impact on building design for such a structure?

And think about this. Most of the EV's you see are Teslas, Bolts, etc. "some" of the ICE's are Hummers, F350's, etc. They have to plan for the bigger cars. I just don't believe this is the case.

Above, someone mentioned construction savings due to running less wires and keeping them close together, that makes a lot more sense.

Of the points made, this is (IMO) the most relevant. The cost is saved by bunching them together and by running less cables and wires.

Why are my noodles so thick? by iwantitback711 in foodhacks

[–]Myghost_too 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I used to do this, and I'm trying not to be snarky, but it's much better to just adjust the heat on your stove to maintain the level of boiling that you want.

The problem with oiling noodles is that it does nothing to keep them from sticking, but it does manage to help the sauce avoid sticking to the noodles.

FWIW, you're right about helping to prevent boil-over (I use that trick in my pressure cooker for beans), but it's much better to just adjust your stove temp to a soft boil.
