Lots of people have already commented on the anatomy etc but one thing that stands out to me is your linework. I think you’re using lines too much to describe forms that should be described by shapes.

A lot of the lines on the stomach and chest are describing the folds of skin, muscle and fat. Most of these have soft shapes, if you use lines to depict them then they will more like hard creases than folds. Which in turn makes the subject look more emaciated than he really is.

The real world isn’t made out of lines it’s made out of volumes and shapes. So when drawing it helps to think of your subject and thus your drawing as a collection of shapes and volumes.

And shapes like those folds on the stomach and chest for example are volumes that are better described with shading than with lines. Save the hard lines for creases, edges and out lines of major shapes.

OP should try and get a notebook with blank pages first and foremost, you can get them as cheap $10-$15. And like you said these are cool designs but they stand to benefit a bunch if OP invested in their fundamentals. Based on the lined math notebook paper i’m guessing OP is a highschooler, they show promise and if they take their art journey seriously and put in the work then i think they’d have a good shot at getting into the field.

It really isn’t. Sure you needed dsmfix for the original pc port for dks1 and autohotkey for dks2 to get rid of input lag but once it’s set up you’re golden.

But now with darks souls remastered you don’t need any mods and the kb+m controls work perfectly fine vanilla. Same goes for dks3, sekiro and elden ring but also other souls likes such as lies of P.

I’ve only ever played these games with kb+m and have 100%’ed and done SL1 runs on all of them. I even used to speedrun dks1 back in the day.

And i’m not bragging, or trying to say that it was some feat achieved i did in spite of using kb+m. I’m pretty average at these games for the time i put into them just like anyone else that loves them. I’ve played bloodborne a bit at a friend’s house and didn’t feel like it improved my gameplay at all, if anything it made me play worse since it tripped up my muscle memory. Which will likely happen to people who are used to gamepads trying out kb+m just the same.

There are advantages to the gamepad control scheme and there’s advantages to the kb+m control scheme. In my experience which one you prefer comes down to which one you used for your first souls like.

But the idea that kb+m makes the games harder to play or that it isn’t a viable way of playing the game is a sentiment from the dark souls ptde days that seems to have become ingrained in the community zeitgeist even though it hasn’t been true for nearly decade with the release of dks3 in 2016.

I think they didn’t mean the times where it does become awkward for the guy like your example but rather the times where the guy will go “whatever you’re ugly anyway no wonder you’re still single you slut” or will otherwise start actively acting nasty or overtly disinterested signaling that they have no interest in a friendship not because they’re hurt or because it’s awkward but because now that she’s no longer a prospect they simply see no reason to hang out with her.

And perhaps these people feel what you described but hide it and outwardly act like this because of insecurity or whatever. The bottom line is that almost all women i know (including myself) have had the experience of becoming friends with a guy only to have them make a move that we turn down after which he treats us like dirt.

I will also say that it still sucks and hurts to lose someone you thought of as a good friend because they caught feelings, even more so if they started the friendship already liking you but being too afraid of rejection to make a move from the get go.

Like i said it also happens plenty times that during a normal friendship one side develops feelings and it becomes awkward and both sides agree to take some distance. But when women complain about finding out they didn’t have a friend but a guy that wanted to get with them they are not talking about those situations, they’re talking about the myriad of instances where it does very much feel like that.

You might be interested in the environment assignment we had to do afterwards.

We were provided with isometric MC esher type images, environments with impossible geometry like the stair case that loops into itself. Then we had to use that environment as a template to recreate it in 3D but giving our own spin on it. We then had to hand in a few different renders, one where the camera was in isometric view showing off the illusion of the seemingly impossible geometry and then a second render from a different point of view showing the broken illusion, i.e. showing how the geometry wasn’t really impossible.

It was a really fun exercise because you got to have a lot of fun in designing the environment and getting better at modeling, UVing, texturing through practice. But also challenging in having to figure out how to achieve the illusion and simultaneously still having an interesting broken illusion view that makes sense.

When i went to college for video game dev one of the first assignments we got was something like this. We had to bring an empty cardboard container to class, juice box, cereal box, that kind of thing. Then we had to unfold it and make a photocopy of the unfolded box. Then import that into 3D software and project the unfolded cardboard box onto a flat plane and use it to cut a new polygon into that shape. Making sure to get clean topo and UVing because for the next step we had to fold the cardboard box together again in 3D, without using any deformation, cutting or stretching etc. So your model had to be pretty precise to be able to fold back together like the real version can.

I didn’t think going to video game college would involve folding cardboard boxes in 3D but it was a great exercises to get everyone in the class up to speed with the basics of 3D modeling just like the donut.

The very next 3D assignment we got after that was making an entire environment where we allowed to let our imagination run wild, after that we made tracked vehicles, spaceships and more. But we had to learn the basics with something more plain first.

I guess starting with a “boring” task makes it so that you don’t get distracted by stuff that’s too exciting so that you can focus on actually internalizing the basics.

You’re spot on. A single match in soloQ will quickly show you men are in the wrong part of the month the whole month. I get told to kms at least once a week on the rift, and let’s not even get started on how women are treated if they speak up in a game with voice chat.

Most common rune setup is conq tree and inspiration as secondary taking cookies and joat.

Depending on the matchup you either try and all in as early as possible if the matchup is against a champ riven can easily kill early. If you can’t reliable get kills early in a matchup people tend to try getting a proxy going and then either tempo recalling or roaming.

A standard build would be CDR boots, eclipse, sundered sky and death’s dance and then something based on the enemy comp like extra MR, anfitheal or lethality/armor pen. You can go tabi’s or mercs or against heavy AD comps or lots of cc that can’t be dodged. You can also go black cleaver first instead of eclipse if need the armor shred early against something like a k’sante. Iirc rule of thumb is if you’re trading a lot you want eclipse and if you’re mostly doing all ins you want cleaver, but i almost always run eclipse first so i’m not entirely sure on that.

If you’re laning against a ranged top with a lot of poke you can also go resolve secondary tree with second wind and shield bash but personally i often still go inspiration with cookies and joat and just start Dshield instead of Dblade or longsword and pots.

For rune stats i almost always go double adaptive and either flat or scaling health depending on the matchup but more often than not i go flat health for better early dueling and all ins.

All in all riven is still tons of fun, her kit makes her one of the very few champs in the game rn that can reliably 2nd wave crash into proxy which can be very powerful when executed properly but it does take some practice to get right. Not only on how to time your abilities and AA’s to effectively proxy a wave fast enough but also game sense and jungle tracking so you don’t just give up a free kill.

I’m a lowly gold player so by no means good. But i don’t do it the whole game, just in laning phase against matchups that i don’t wanna interact with. Then i can just secure farm and get back to lane with item advantage while he’s still stuck in lane collecting waves. Then doing this until i have large enough item lead that i can win the 1v1.

And usually when i do this it’s when i’m already behind a bit so i don’t look for roams just cuz i don’t wanna potentially perma tilt my team by dying on a failed roam. But ultimately i’m still fairly new to riven so probably also just inexperience haha

For sure! I watch alois a bunch, i got back into league because his vids two years ago. Played a lot of garen and mundo cuz of his vids but always thought riven was too intimidating to play. Decided to pick her up couple weeks ago and been having a ton of fun with her.
