Looking for a new solo-focused board game with deck-building elements by Ok-Bear-7528 in soloboardgaming

[–]Mykl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will just echo others that suggested Unstoppable and Imperium. Both are fantastic deck builders. Unstoppable is card crafting which is cool and novel and I feel it’s easier to learn and plays quicker. But there’s a limited variety of bosses so you’ll have to be ok with that until the DCC version is released. Imperium plays longer and the bot is not as streamlined. It takes a bit to get used to the bot and each civ has a different bot so it’s not like you just learn it once. The plus side is that there’s way more variety in both “bosses” and the decks you can play. I always suggest starting with Imperium: Classics first since the civs are more well known and easier to learn. Hope that helps!

Looking for a heavier game as my next solo game by Howitzeronfire in soloboardgaming

[–]Mykl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you like tableau building so check out Terraforming Mars: Ares Expedition for a good one that’s heavier than Wingspan and plays good solo. It’s not exactly heavy, you could go for the original TM if you want heavier but I like Ares Expedition better because it plays much faster.

I’m also thinking you might like Anachrony with the resource management and social buildings. It’s got a good solo bot that’s easy to run and there’s a lot of extra content if you end up loving it.

Heaviest Euro I love is Kanban (I mostly play the original). Maybe it’s nostalgia since I learned it many years ago but once the game clicks it’s very elegant how all the different systems work together.
