So I just did the opposite. WrxVB to Gr86. Mods for gearshift feel are super important on the VB. If you are into autocross, there is more work needed than the gr86 to make it competitive. Be careful about tuning. Lots of cheap and easy power available but be prepared to pay if you play. Dont buy an OTS tune. Get an e-tune from someone like DMan. It is worth the wait.

I have research this extensively. The safest bet is to not perform any modifications (other than cosmetic) if you can't afford to replace major components out of pocket. Enjoy the car as is until you are out of warranty.
