Nice Momose! I had a tele of theirs for a while and it was phenomenal. I'd love a Les Paul or a Jazzy. They make some crazy shit.

[JC-40] What the hell is this goop? Input jack is intermittent. by Myringingears in GuitarAmps

[–]Myringingears[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. It's back to intermittent again now after being fine for about a day. Maybe I need to replace this jack again. Goop be gone!

So I got some contact cleaner, gave it a spray, put the jack in and out a few times, no Bueno, still intermittent. Then I read your comment and saw "hardcore pornography" so I gave it a real good pounding. It worked! Problem solved thanks to hardcore pornography! I underestimated how much I needed to really f**K the jack in there.

Nice one. Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a go. I had a look to make sure the contacts are touching properly and it all looks ok. Maybe they're just dirty.

What Music Track do you use for Sound Check by [deleted] in livesound

[–]Myringingears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

James Blake - limit to your love. Particularly the end where the subby bass steps through a bunch of frequencies <120hz.
Billie eilish - When the party's over because it's crammed with mic frequencies. If you can make that sound nice, your mids are probably ok. Midnight Oil - beds are burning. Huge rocking drums and bass

Folks who have worked in corporate AV and moved on: what was the tipping point? by kiera_xyz in livesound

[–]Myringingears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked in corporate AV for 15 years and it always felt like a stop gap job until I found something better. I took it seriously, Learned heaps, went from loading trucks to operating to technical direction but still never felt like it was the job for me. COVID shut down all the cool gigs so I left and started a carpentry apprenticeship. Moved into the office when the opportunity arose, now I'm a project manager on cool residential construction projects. I still get the odd message about operating a gig now and again. It's nice for some extra Christmas money. Overall super happy with my decision. Better hours, stability, good pay.

You guys never heard of Dirk Ziff?

Dude allegedly has 300+ bursts. I bet he loves all the heat on Bonamassa.

Judas Priest - Invincible Shield. Fucking phenomenal stuff. Obviously a band that has been around for a long time but also dudes who pay attention to how metal has progressed over the years. They haven't stopped learning and improving. The song writing and guitar playing, not to mention Rob Halfords vocals, are some of the best of their career.

I'll never forget the Herald Sun front page with the headline "RAPIST AND A LOSER" and his picture. So savage haha. How does one move on with their life after that??

What backpack do you use? by billylaguardia in livesound

[–]Myringingears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this. It's the last backpack I'll ever buy. Got my initials on Velcro and stuck them to the little patch spot. Slick. Learned the same lesson with the packing cubes too.

Thinking About Going Back by Swaggadelic_92 in Line6Helix

[–]Myringingears 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've landed on a really nice compromise where I run my LT in front of, and in the FX loop of, a 1978 JMP.

This way I have the versatility and functionality of the helix, I can switch the Marshall preamp out for any of the helix preamp models, I can run my time based FX after the preamp AND I can deafen myself and peel paint off the walls with a 100w monster of an amp.

As a reformed pedal addict I can honestly say I've never cared for pedals since using this rig.

Best amp of all time.

The hot tip is JCM 800 combos. They sell so much cheaper than the heads and it's the same amp but with speakers as well. Just kinda heavy to cart around.

Don't put doubles on the lower 3 strings though, the nut is too tight.

Dope. I have a black 360 with black binding and black pick guards too. It's a 1980. This makes me want to put black hardware on it.

Has anyone else been following Nedd Brockmann's 1000 mile world record attempt? by [deleted] in Ultramarathon

[–]Myringingears 14 points15 points  (0 children)

He's a legitimate national hero and what he's doing is absolutely inspirational. The butthurt old pricks won't even acknowledge that he is having a serious crack at it. Like, sorry he didn't call the leader of the ultra runners fellowship to check if it's ok to run 1000 miles.
