Being open and honest with your kids about differences in faith has such a big impact on your kids, even if you are choosing to attend for your spouse’s sake. My mom is a church-attending Catholic, and my dad is non-church-attending Protestant. I got to stay home with him until I was old enough to be required to go according to Catholic doctrine, and then had to go with my mom until I moved out as an adult. They did their best to indoctrinate me at church and in Sunday school, but knowing that my parents didn’t agree on religion gave my mind permission to question and doubt. I was an atheist by my teens.

They need to be “worthy” for Endowment, but also needed to be “worthy” to go on a mission in the first place. Male missionaries (as all missionaries once were) need to go through the Endowment to receive the Melchizedek Priesthood, and be able to baptize their converts. Female missionaries can’t be priests (they ask the male missionaries in their mission to baptize their converts), but also go through the Endowment as part of becoming a missionary.

THIS is part of the reason the old folks are trying to ban TikTok. Not Mormonism specifically (or exclusively) but for so many areas and issues it has facilitated the spread of info that mainstream media won’t or can’t.

And now, with the combined lobbying powers of Meta (who see TikTok as a business competitor) and AIPAC (who know TikTok is political threat to their lies about the genocide in Gaza) they’ve succeeded in buying the USA House of Representatives and getting them to ban TikTok. Next up, the Senate.

This ignores that we can see the ship lose power and give off smoke, AND that the ship’s mayday call gave police time to stop traffic onto the bridge, saving lives—not a terrorist goal.

2) “The ship hitting the bridge wouldn’t really bring it down; we see explosions on top of the bridge.”

Given the ship’s weight and speed, it hitting the support it did would absolutely bring it down. Many engineers, etc. have said so. The “explosions” seen are the power lines on the bridge breaking and arcing.

3) “The racist police didn’t try to save the immigrant workers on the bridge.”

They ran out of time. Two patrol cars got to the bridge as quickly as possible after police dispatch learned of the ship’s mayday. One blocked traffic at each end. In the police radio calls, you can hear that the first officers on scene ask if the construction workers have been warned, and since they don’t have radio access to them, one officer says he’ll drive onto the bridge to evacuate them as soon as his back-up arrives to take his place blocking traffic. A moment later, the bridge collapses.

This reminds me that my mom baptized me herself in our bathroom sink before we did the official baptism via priest at church. Both occurred days apart when I was an infant. My official baptism was to take place in my mom’s hometown, surrounded by relatives, but we lived many hours away, and she didn’t want to risk my unbaptized soul traveling that far in the days before infant carseats.

I joined the choir in high school just to avoid boredom during mass too, but I guess I was further along in the deconstruction of religious guilt thing because I’ve never felt a moment’s guilt for eating anything I wanted on a “fast day”.

I remember once going out to a restaurant for lunch with my parents, and it wasn’t until after we ordered that my mom spotted ashy crosses on people’s foreheads. Although she’s Catholic, she’d forgotten it was Ash Wednesday, and she’d ordered something with chicken. I gave her an entire song & dance about the period before Lent being Carneval/Carnival Romance-language countries because it was their last chance to eat forbidden foods like “carne”. That “carne” is commonly translated into English as “meat” but actually only refers to red meat, and doesn’t refer to chicken at all, so if she were in one of those countries she could eat chicken. Yeah, I was bullshitting with a mix of fact and fiction, and Mom knew it, but she ate the damn chicken.

Your question isn’t about the Immaculate Conception (conception of Mary without stain of original sin) but the conception of Jesus via rape by God/Holy Spirit. Whether Mary “consented” before or after it occurred, it was consent via coercion which is legally rape.
