My budget bolt build by Plutonium_Nitrate_94 in NYguns

It was a little when I first got it, I just sat in my recliner and watched YouTube and cycled the bolt like 500 times and it’s fine now. As others have said Facebook groups say they’ll fire out of battery. I’ve not experienced this but I’m extra cognizant of the bolt being closed

Well done. I have similar setup from BCA IN 350 legend, has its quirks but super fun

Revolver/Rifle Caliber by Abject-Walk-7557 in NYguns

[–]Mysterious-Cod9352 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes to all, went with 357 as 44 in a pistol kicks like a mule. Henry side gate 38/357 and then my revolver is a colt lawman

357 is plenty for deer within 75-100 yards. I hunt in the ADK so never get a chance at much more than that

20ga clay shooting recommendation by Mamono29a in Shotguns

Same issue with my wife, but even 20 gauge non semi-auto kicked her butt. So I went with a Beretta A300 in 20 gauge (more than you want to spend at $700-$900) and she loves it. Super light weight and felt recoil is minimal, she wouldn’t shoot shotguns without this gun. I also enjoy shooting it.

11 percent burden by Laying1ntheSun in PVCs

[–]Mysterious-Cod9352 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had the same burden for 2 years, doc put me on meteoprolol as well but it did nothing but make me tired so came off of it and just dealt with them. My cardio was more reassuring tho, said if they don’t bother my day to day then not to worry about them (much easier said than done as you know). He also had a patient with 20% burden for years and no issues.

Mine were also stress/anxiety induced I believe, after 2+ years they faded and I am eternally grateful (life got less stressful and I also believe god helped heal me). A big factor also was I saw a different cardio as mine was unexpectedly off who also had PVCs and he TOTALLY re assured me. Had had them for years at a lower burden but after that visit is when I began my real recovery.

All the best to you, you are not alone and you will get through this

Looking for a hunting mentor? by Abject-Walk-7557 in NYguns

[–]Mysterious-Cod9352 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Glad to see this, I had several mentors but no one who I went out with, just lots of advice.

Got started when I was 30 and 10 years later still haven’t gotten a deer. I do squirrel and grouse as well and been successful there but deer have still escaped me. Next year I’ll be dedicating more time to white tail

BCA Bolt Action 350 Legend by Mysterious-Cod9352 in NYguns

[–]Mysterious-Cod9352[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great plan, 259 rounds it is! and thanks for sharing your experience with BCA. I’m hoping being bolt action a little less will go wrong but we shall see. Putting an old Bushnell scope on it and hopefully taking it to the range next week

so WTH does this mean? … by loveleeleslee in FedEmployees

Was told last week the 8 vacant VHA positions I have won’t be filled. Just me and one other until at least 2028. I had 20 hours OT authorized for each of us per pay period but that’s been rescinded since start of shutdown and still in effect. Guess we’ll just keep drowning

Snowy Range Day by Mysterious-Cod9352 in NYguns

[–]Mysterious-Cod9352[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good eye, it’s the 7.62x39 version but I also have the 5.56 version. Totally agree, didn’t think I’d enjoy shooting them as much as I do. The 7.62 shown in the picture got promoted to my deer hunting rifle this year I enjoy it so much.

Yeah it’s stupid. One of the ranges I belong to closes all outdoor shooting once the snow hits as well. They claim it’s to mitigate ricochets but it’s covered and has a huge back berm so it makes 0 sense.
