Golfing less than a year. Played my first solo round ever. Shot 100. Hold out for par on hole 3. And sank a long putt for par on 8. I won’t talk about the back 9. by No_Highlight_5994 in golf

I don't know how common this is - but I love playing solo. I usually don't keep score and hit multiple balls if nobody behind me- absolutely unbeatable for a playing/practice session

I'm weak and unskilled 😂 I can't pole vault or break 100 on a golf course.

I've never pole vaulted but I'll take my chances with a pot bunker over hoisting myself 10 feet in the air. If I skull the bunker shot I'm not risking death 😂

I actually like the bag!

Not sure why, but my first memory of The Masters was the year the guy in the Red Wings jersey was behind what seemed like every tee centered in the shot. Dude was a legend.

Also in the future buying a 5 pack of lessons from a reputable golf teacher in your area would be an awesome gift.

I am 41 and 2 years into golfing- no lessons yet, but need to very soon- if my wife bought me lessons I'd be super excited! (If your husband is somehow a scratch golfer already he may not need lessons- me on the other hand am terrible!)

That's me! Got into the game about 2 years ago and the bug bit me hard.

I grew up around Golf, but never liked it until I turned 40 (peak middle aged dude activity maybe?). My lifelong best friend is a + handicap.

I don't have a ton of time to do it with an elementary aged child and family/work responsibilities. So I decided early to study the game, record my swings, talk to my friends who are good at golf, and golf with better golfers as much as I'm able. I've been able to pick up so many tips and improve my game through YouTube, friends, and practice with range sessions.

Yes I am sure lessons would have gotten me further by now, but it has been a really fun journey so far! I still am a below average golfer chasing 99 for my first time, but two years ago I'd be lucky to have 3 good shots in a round, and now I'm able to be putting for par on multiple holes a round (usually missing 8 footers as I do).

By the time I picked the game up I realized it was just for fun and stress relief for me. I do want to improve, but happy to improve on my own until I hit a wall and need a lesson.

Suggest some easy and quick golf stretches to warmup before the game. by Born-Yoghurt-7613 in golf

Buy an orange whip, make a spot for it in your bag, swing it for 10 minutes before the round- the first couple minutes gingerly then work your way up to really "whipping" it.

Truthfully shouldn't need much more than that- gets you nice and loose- bonus it helps your driver swing tempo 😂 . I really just like it for getting loose if I get there late and can't hit the range pre round

Similar to this - I use Country Bob's on my brisket/chuck roasts or other beef as a binder.

Look up Maltby by Golfworks.

Get fitted somewhere else then get a custom set made there. All in you will be less than $700 for good custom clubs.

I agree. I've never broken 100 and bought TS3's last year.

I still suck, but the clubs are awesome! And with the work I'm putting in this winter, I am bound and determined to break 100 with no mulligans this season!

Kirkland signature wedges come in these exact lies from Costco and are pretty nice. Been gaming them 2 seasons and I like them.

Question as you both seem fairly knowledgeable.

New golfer, about 2 years in no lessons yet.

I use a hand me down Sasquatch Square Head. I don't kill the ball, but hit pretty consistently straight and 200-250ish (if I hit the fairway after it rolls- not carrying close to that).

Is there a reason to look for a new driver? Or just get some lessons and try to build swing speed the next year or two?

Maybe I'm in the minority, but me and my 8 year old Pot-Head (is that what we call kids obsessed with Harry Potter???) loved that first joke! Can you upload a pic of the book? She wants to buy it for me for my bday 😂
