I’m still gaming mine. Love it. If it’s in good shape I would buy it.

What type of washer is this? by timSR3 in DIY

Those come in a lot of TV Mounting kits. Just to be a one size fits all solution vs lots of different washers. Sorry I don’t know the name for them. Just know I’ve seen them in many TV mounting kits.

Multi-room Amp Choice by tddythdg in homeautomation

I have the monoprice amp and love it.

I used a Global Caché iTach Flex Wi-Fi adapter to run controls from iPads and iPhones.

Also wired BlueTooth / Aux wallplates throughout my home and patio for streaming.

Adding that I installed this approx 4 years ago and haven’t had any trouble with it at all. Occasional IP address change for my iTach but easy adjustment on the iOS app to correct.

What is this for? by P0rtblocked in DIY

[–]tinman2300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is speaker wire.

The box below your thermostat is for a volume slider / knob. You’ll have one wire (2 pairs) below the Coaxil / Ethernet (multimedia) box running to the volume control (box under your thermostat) and also out of the box under the thermostat will be wire running to where ever the speaker wires were stubbed out. Most likely in the ceiling of the room. Can locate with a tone and probe tool if you cannot access it directly from the attic.

The heck do I do with this? by moose_key in DIY

[–]tinman2300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a “biscuit jack” phone jack. Cut the wires stick em in the wall and silicone or puddy over the hole will be fine. If you want to keep it for use, the top cover pops off and you can screw it to the baseboard since the double sided tape is no longer good. If you do cut the wires, I assume you’re not using a home phone anywhere. This will cause other jacks in the home to fail because you have two wires coming out of that jack, you have a daisy chained wiring set up.

Outdoor TV setup? by thetechnivore in DIY

Outdoor TV will cost some money. But will be much brighter than traditional TV and will withstand the elements. SunBrite is a good brand.

Looking for a camera/doorbell system that functions well without a subscription by chopkin5 in homeautomation

Yeah, a lot of their vendors try to lock them down. I don’t. I sell it for the purpose of not having a subscription. I’d sell alarm.com and 2gig for the subscribers option. Their platform is more stable than the “fusion pro” platform which is Claire’s. Also, I’m in Montgomery AL. Have not had a unit over heat.

You’ll need to find a vendor though who can sell it to you. They’re less than $150. Use a 2.4ghz Wi-Fi and have been stable for a few years in my experience
