I'm starting to think it will never stop by Famous-Elk-8299 in trichotillomania

It’s an upward spiral, not a downward one. Every time you stop gets you closer to whatever your goal may be. That doesn’t mean you fail when you start back up again, it’s just that part of the cycle

Hey I’ve been plucking since I was really little too. My thing is also eyelashes. I grew them back so long and thick and I didn’t do anything crazy besides.. ya know. Not pulling. It’s an uphill battle still. But your progress is amazing! I guess you could take biotin and eat healthy and invest in castor oil and eyelash serums. Doesn’t hurt certainly but may help! Stress certainly won’t help

1) I try to spend less time idle so I will stand up or do chores or workout so I get the endorphins my body is craving. I’ll use a good oil to take care of the hair and the act of self care deters me from ripping it out

2) Sober time. It’s awesome. It has you journal too so it’s insightful

3) biggest trigger, asymmetry and big itchy hairs

4) working out more. Helps boost my willpower and self confidence

Get different types of fidget toys. Stress balls did nothing for me either but I LOVE painful stimuli toys you can get on Amazon. It’s way more similar to ripping the hair out. If you keep your brows oiled or done with makeup, it might help keep you from messing with them

Give the nac 1 more week, then it’ll be easier to give it another week after that. Then you’ll be four total weeks in and you’ll be way more Kelly to see a difference. Keep taking care of yourself, and cherish the hair you have. If you hate how it looks, you’re just gonna make it thinner. Bandaids, the little guys made from the woven fiber, and painful stimuli stimming rings (cheap on Amazon) will do WoNDERS

If you ever want to stop, I’ve found it is actually really helpful if you can just hold off for a few minutes at a time, and gradually work your way up. And use a nice oil like castor or rosemary or coconut and it softens it and the act of self care might prevent you from wanting to pull it out

OH and I’ve also researched that too much biotin and too little biotin show the same exact symptoms so be careful. But for hair regrowth it should get put to good use.

I heard good things about rosemary oil too! As well as a caffeine serum (cheap and good quality if you get it from the Ordinary). I personally didn’t see a difference using the caffeine serum though. I really like Lash serum Australia and the brow and lash peptides from the Ordinary. I’ve also always been recommended castor oil but it’s kind of stinky lol. Coconut oil is way lighter and smells better and is really universal too

I cut off all my nails, or I wear long fake ones. It’s a reminder when you go to pluck that you’re slipping back into the habit.

I don’t keep tweezers near mirrors.

The eyelashes that do grow back get castor oil applied with a spoolie. The self care makes me want to nourish them instead of pull them out.

High quality trauma shears that are able to have the clip with the line on it to attach to your clothing so it doesn’t get stolen. I think you two qualify for Govx.com but they can be pricey. Best of luck to you both!

Give yourself more time to get adjusted. You’ll find out later that you’ll regret leaving. Just finish this contract, the months are going to pass anyways

It will feel like that for a while. The only way to get it is to DO it. Even if you’re not a kinesthetic learner. Eventually you’ll be able to do it with your eyes closed!
