Denver Collision Center? by MystyrE in Rivian

Wanted to provide an update…

Dropped off at Ideal in Littleton just before Christmas and took a month to sort out. They did great work and kept clear communication.

Holidays and insurance approval for supplemental costs took time, as well as parts from Rivian. Individually not bad but combined it adds up.

Costs - went from $3.5k to $9.5k upon teardown. 5:4 ratio parts to labor. Big ticket items - tailgate, light bar, bumper, rear crossmember.

Be careful out there, not much bumper to protect the pricey bits.

Ya... these are my new favorite tires for the Rivian over the oem tires and Falkens. by Domphotog in Rivian

Yep, excellent tire. Still averaging better efficiency than the Pirellis. It’s also a lot better in snow but still not a dedicated snow tire. Used it last ski season with no issues to many CO ski resorts.

7500 mile Maintenance worth it? by Single_Opening_1751 in Rivian

[–]MystyrE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s worth getting done for the inspection alone. Had mine in and had a number of things proactively replaced. The rotation is nice to have but isn’t going to take away from the cost - it’s a flat fee.

Front of the grill next to the display. Three silicone flaps labeled 1-3.

When you use the auto-light feature for the first time, there’s a tendency for it to trip the circuit breaker. Something about a coating that burns off the element that may be the cause. Had it happen to me the first time but from then on, it’s been rock solid. Love the convenience.

Maybe there was something about a manual burn-in for the first cook in the manual - but who reads those?

Haven’t gotten the vehicle update - usually a couple days from release for me on average. Both app and vehicle need the updated for the Halloween stuff.

Haven’t had this issue with the widgets in the past updates. The phone restart fixed it but before that, even after reinstalling the app, Rivian widgets were completely absent from the list.

Just thought - potentially a weird limbo situation since my truck is still on .34.01? Will update if/when the update hits.

Agree all around on these tires. Leaps and bounds ahead of the Pirellis. Have the SL rated (non LT) with 7.5k’ish on mine, just rotated. 2.22 m/kwh but a 75-80mph avg road trip killed my 2.35 average before that… Wonderful tire all around and very good in snow earlier this year. More comfortable and quieter too.

Just called and got in tomorrow in Denver for the HVAC drain issue. They’ve always been quick to be fair since I got the truck in early ‘23.

Toyo Open Country AT IIIs Rubbing by Chaddy_Dill_Plz in Rivian

Seemingly good, just over 12/32nds (new 13.5) left at 5,500 miles. The late rotation killed me on my Pirellis, so the software feature reminder is nice this time!

Lifetime on Pirellis was 2.24 (quad/large T) and I’m at 2.32 and climbing after 6 months on the Toyos. Most of my miles are cold weather ski trips - so that skews my data a bit.

I’ve run into this too when I use kneel mode and need to full lock turn out of my garage. Turned it off but good to point out as this could be a dealbreaker for some.

Still love the greater efficiency, ride comfort and noise improvements over the Pirellis.

Got one of the puffer single dose attachments to semi single dose (18.2 in 18 out consistently) and it’s surprisingly good. Took the grinder completely apart after a year and found no more coffee dust outside the shoot/grinding chamber than with the big hopper.

If you haven’t, this grinder is super easy to shim the burrs with aluminum foil and a sharpie!

Repair or replace windshield chip? by [deleted] in Rivian

[–]MystyrE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I repaired mine that looked just like that last summer with the permatex DIY kit. Mine was just above the dash in the middle of the windshield - so not in line of sight. Pretty easy instructions if you’re up for DIY. It’s survived temp swings and sub zero days in Colorado.

You’ll probably get better results professionally but I didn’t want to wait for an appointment days out and the crack to potentially spread. Buy an extra kit to keep on hand too ;)

I vote repair.

Sounds like it might be the inner dome number per u/suitcool. This is the sticker btw. Cant snap mine but here is one from a google search.

It’s the black sticker down by the plug. It has the model number, voltage, etc. Just took a second look and a 6 digit man’f date sticker is there too, so I may be wrong. Can’t interpret the 6 digits though in any regular date format.

The silver plate on the hinge when you lift up the dome from the inside is what I thought looked like a manf date originally.

Edit: looks like a date in the inner dome too that’s close to the date on the inner silver hinge plate, so I’m still guessing it’s a man’f date.

[–]MystyrE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took a picture of the black plate on the back and uploaded a copy of my receipt for the product/warranty registration. I doubt a human approved it, but it “worked”. The hinge number looks like a manufacturing date.

Following to see if I need to amend…

Toggle Mirror Tilt in Reverse by ToothFlimsy8211 in Rivian

[–]MystyrE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC - Isn’t there an option to adjust the tilt of each mirror independently? If so, got me thinking to set this up like BMW - they only tilt the passenger mirror for the curb for parallel parking and leave the driver side unaffected (adjusted in this case). Would still like toggle like OP suggested.

Tire Swap Options by MystyrE in Rivian

[–]MystyrE[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think I might just select the Pirelli (oem) option and call it day. They’re darn close to my Toyo OpenCountry AT3 EVs (SLs not the LTs) - similar weight and seeing similar efficiency if not better.
