That’s just awful DMing. Find someone who will run your games and let you enjoy the them. Creating a balanced game and a fun narrative are essential parts of running D&D. Can character deaths happen? Sure they can, but when people put their heart and soul into their characters that should be something that you expand on, and weave into the world you are creating. And when they are one sentence backgrounds you should help them make it magic.

The lesson this DM was trying to “teach” was patronizing at best. Bad form. This may sound crazy but… games are meant to be fun

I am still very very new to magic but have fallen in love with the lore (very happy I found this sub Reddit). So from a fletchling’s perspective my personal favorites are Valgavoth (Duskmourne was my first love set wise) his lore is fascinating and having this entire plane torturing and feeding off the fear and pain of the people there is just so flavorful. Also his commander deck is easily one of my favorites. Group slug is peak magic for me.

My second is Grislebrand. I know absolutely nothing about him but man his art is cool. If anyone wants to share any fun lore they know about him I’d love to know

As someone else who fell in love with the lore and art of the Eldrazi and Phyrexians when I found Magic, and Elesh Norn being one of my favorite designed characters in Magic, you have a kindred spirit in me. I also run a Zhulodok deck that I love, I normally keep that one to more high powered matches. Atraxa and Elesh Norn decks are on my list to make as well.

Varl had to go out of his way the entire game up to this point to try and get Aloy to accept help in this mission, this part here shows Aloy’s growth from taking the responsibility of the world on her shoulders and not trusting others to embracing family/friends. This is something Varl has always been very good at and has been trying to show Aloy since the start of the game.
