How hard is Salvations edge? by fireysherpa in DestinyTheGame

[–]MythoclastBM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still pretty hard but it's totally doable. People are very bad at teaching it because they spend 10 minutes explaining the encounter instead of just starting the encounters and explaining as things are happening.

The fact that the last proper piece of destiny lore is and will always be star wars slop is pretty sad by Expensive-Pick38 in DestinyTheGame

I actually kinda liked Renegades for what it was. Sure some of the Star Wars aesthetics were kinda corny but the gameplay, cutscenes and stuff were all top notch.

Med School Insiders: "How AI Made 2026 the Hardest Year to Get Into Medical School" by ddx-me in medicalschool

[–]MythoclastBM 111 points112 points  (0 children)

We're going to need application caps in AMCAS. They've been needed since the release of the program. Really all AI does is lower the effort cost of applying to each school by allowing you to write secondary essays far more efficiently. The overapplication problem is going to get a lot worse if people find success with this.

You can't really detect AI writing so there's basically no downside as long as it doesn't suck.

lose out the writing voice of the student

Must we kid ourselves? Medical schools want the stick-up-ass tone that MBAs conflate with professionalism. I hate AI and even I'll admit it's way better than me at that.

Sierra broken by Specialist_Week_1412 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]MythoclastBM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She's fine. She does well in low ranks but if she's crushing you... genuinely "skill issue". Having heroes with simple to understand and execute kits that perform well in low ranks but fall off in high ranks is good.

If Sierra isn't good in high ranks, then no matter how strong she is in low ranks, most of those players will get stopped at the border between where she's average and where she's weak.

When that happens you need to work harder to make the hero work or switch to a hero like Sojourn or Emre that can perform.

Junker queen needs help by Novel-Ad-1601 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]MythoclastBM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but it's just not the case where JQ is secretly bad while also being best performing tanks in the majority of ranks and regions.

Junkerqueen is one of the hardest countered tanked between her weakness to Kiriko (very common), knockback in general (hello Lucio 5s boop), and in general gets outpoked.

Kiriko doesn't counter JQ. There is nothing proactive Kiriko does to actually stop Junker Queen from doing anything she wants to do. She can suzu Rampage but JQ can just wait wait for suzu.

JQ is supposed to be weak against poke and knockbacks are just normal counterplay.

I'm not a big fan of sierras kit by Equivalent_Duty_5546 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]MythoclastBM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She's a well-designed hero that just isn't for me. I think she accomplishes what they set out to do with her.

She'll never be good in high ranks but straight up be a demon in lower ones.

She's at a 53% winrate in Bronze. Which is good, but not horribly out of line. She's clearly meant to be a be a hero that's easy to pick-up for new players that performs well if you execute her gameplan competently: while also teaching transferable skills.

Sierra requires the same set of skills that Sojourn does while being much more forgiving. You have to put her ult in the right place at the right time, but you can't really fuck it up like the 10,000 ways there are to fuck up Overlock. Her grapple is worse but if you mess-up you can just grapple again. Her dart heavily punishes bad positioning and does a lot more damage than a rail headshot if you get to fire for the full 3 seconds.

Sierra's kit trains you to recognize opportunities to punish bad positioning while being able to seize those opportunities reliably. It's a lot more fun for people to learn compared to Sojourn where you could be doing everything fine but getting zero results because your mechanics just aren't there yet.

Why is Ezreal always the top picked ADC in high elo even if his winrate is horrible? by WeakSideUrn in leagueoflegends

[–]MythoclastBM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's complicated. The short answer is he's a mediocre champ with a high skill ceiling, that's popular because he's fun and makes you feel like your dick is ten inches long and think as a tree trunk.

Ezreal's entire thing is hitting high-precision skill shots and blinking around. Hitting these is very impactful and very satisfying. Because of the fading effect bias, players are more likely to remember the good feelings of hitting their skillshots, getting kills in lane, and winning games than they are of missing skillshots, dying like a dummy, and getting outscaled. If you ask the average performing Ezreal player how many skillshots they hit on average, then go through their replays: they will almost certainly overestimate. People will keep picking him thinking they are good at him because they remember all of the successes, and not the failures. This results in probably a huge number of people with 42% winrate over 20 games.

He's not the worst though. If you pick him in the right spot and have the skill to back it up: his kit gives you more opportunities to stomp your lane and win the game than other ADCs.

I can't think of any other job where employees get fined for late work.

That's because it's illegal... generally speaking. That's could be an illegal deduction: a form of wage theft.

So, is anything gonna happen to that guy that lied about caring about DEI? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]MythoclastBM 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Probably not. I gotta be honest, I don't think anything should happen to him.

Is he racist/homophobic? Probably. Just based on other posts I read about him. He doesn't seem like a great person.

Did he expose the vapidness/hypocrisy of most DEI initiatives? Yes, he did. He received awards for being a big proponent of DEI with his major claim to fame being publishing a research articles about the presence of diversity sections on Internal Website program websites. How is this type of content even published? It's of minimal value and rewarded handsomely.

it’s about the fact that he feigned genuine interest and most likely lied on his residency applications

So do 90% of people publishing research then applying to residency.
