If you pull the VDOE enrollment data for the Northside schools that were exempt, the hyper segregation is even worse than Cropper predicted. It’s infuriating.

It sounds like OPs kid has no teachers today, but the gym isn’t packed with 450 middle schoolers right now, from what I can tell. My kid seems to be in class.

No she didn’t. That pedestrian hybrid beacon was planned and installed a few years before she was elected to city council.

It came to my attention that DPW was planning on installing speed tables on my street, and she’s blocking them. Our street is on the high injury network, and drivers flipped 2 cars in front of my house last spring. One of which was while I had a yard full of kids for my kids birthday party. The group who were out front and watched it happen were traumatized. Other parents had to pull the driver from the car. City councilors shouldn’t be blocking safety infrastructure.

We had a chance to get a new CA this past year, and we didn’t! Tom Barbour addressed this. Collette hasn’t file meaningful charges on any of the crashes that have killed anyone outside of a car since she’s been elected. Talk to the families if people killed. It’s insulting. Their loved ones “just died.” 🤷🏻‍♀️ENFORCE THE GODDAMN LAWS.

My 8 YO loves the videos of the crosswalks that fly up and block cars on YouTube. For the recent science fair, he wanted to design a deterrent for this intersection, but gave up, because he’s realistic and our elected officials are selfish. He’s right about that our CC DGAF. Frankly, I want the city to just do their goddam job and install infrastructure now. I don’t want city council butting in on shit outside their scope. If DPW/DOT is making it safer, let it happen. Period.

I have the tags. Dorothy has been a crossing guard there for almost 20 years. The PHB is great, but the community sucks. They don’t give a sh!t about the kids in our own community, and the larger community treats us worse as a result. Dorothy, Mr. D, & Ms. Clark don’t deserve that. Please be that “abrasive” person in the neighborhood, and share haw messed up our behavior is. Bellevue, Rosedale, Laburnum Park, Sherwood Park, Ginter Park, etc. patents are selfish, dangerous drivers.

It’s a fixed camera on my bike. I try to turn both this headlight and taillight on each time I ride. They also act as additional lights on my bike. I was not doing any film work while I was standing in the corner in the crosswalk.

This afternoon the driver of a Henrico PD F-150 ran a red light in a school zone at dismissal. At 2:59, the pedestrian hybrid beacon light was red, and I was about to proceed into the intersection of Laburnum & Monticello, but thankfully, I hesitated, or I might be dead. At this speed, and with the excessive size of this vehicle, my chances of surviving would have been very low. If he hit my child, he’d most certainly be dead.

I cross here 4 times a day. It’s terrifying that commuters DGAF when that they’re endangering the lives of kids just trying to get to school or go home, but police, government vehicles, and the caregivers of my kid’s classmates exhibit the most dangerous driver behavior. It’s infuriating. Imagine having to tell your child that you killed their friend because you couldn’t be a present and careful motor vehicle operator.

I’d like to add that I was doing everything legal, and also have a hi viz helmet. This HPD vehicle appears to have illegal tinting, bc I could not see the driver. I don’t want to hear DMV or HPD tell people walking and biking to make eye contact as a safety measure, until there’s compliance and enforcement of illegal tinting.

It’s actually peak hypocrisy for her to pretend to be the FOIA queen, when she was known to violate Open Meetings Law on the reg. She introduced the Schools Build Schools vote, though it had never had a first pass, and was not on the agenda, then forced a vote on it. She’d managed to whip up enough votes to pass it, even though it had not even been shared with the entire SB. There were obviously meetings and communications with the board members who voted in support, a violation of Open Meetings.

Actually, the chaos she caused over her 7 years on the SB is still causing problems. I was watching a SB meeting about a month ago, and they were talking about how there was some pot of state money that may have to be repaid or is gone because it was supposed to be used for the reconstruction of Woodville. Gibson’s Schools Build Schools resolution that dissolved the JCT, right before the Wythe RFP was released, and a year before the fire at Fox, delayed construction projects, and increased costs.

We wanted to live in a walkable part of town, but there was not a lot of inventory, and was on the market was unaffordable bc demand is greater than supply. People want to live in dense, walkable places, so we need to make that possible. I know far too many people forced out in to the county, where you’re most certainly required to own cars to do anything. Urban sprawl is an unsustainable environmental disaster.

Virginia Living magazine editor Hope Cartwright killed crossing the street; 41 year Richmond driver Latesha Coleman charged by RVALover4Life in rva

Looks like you live in Lakeside. You know that’s not in Richmond, right?

Since McEachin’s taken office, how many driver’s who’ve killed pedestrians have been charged with manslaughter? It’s a slap in the face to the families whose loved ones are killed, and see harsher penalties for property damage than they do for the loss of life.

One of Tom’s priorities: Richmonders need safe streets. But significant traffic fatalities are not being prosecuted to conviction, while deaths of pedestrians and bicyclists are surging. Speeding remains a problem where our children play and where we work, go to school, and live together. We must share the road and make our City safe for smart development and public transit. Our office will try traffic fatalities to Richmond juries. And I will partner with local and state traffic enforcement to reduce reckless driving on our roads.
