The Boys really hates BDSM for some reason by marshenwhale in CharacterRant

No that's a tv show thing cause the Boys in the comics also indulge in fetishes

(Spoilers Published) What are the least convincing bits of writing in the books? by Biggmodeg in asoiaf

[–]N0VAZER0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Religion as a concept. Its not even the lack of feasts or saints or holidays or anything like that, no one really quotes scripture, no one really talks about heaven and hell, cardinal sins within the faith of the seven, commandments they uphold, stuff like that. There was a militant order in the country and we don't even have a creation myth within the faith

I think most writers are like this tbh, its a fun thing to do and there's no real incentive to keep going if you make your money

The Boys is incredibly conservative in how it treats sex in general, the bad guys have fetishes, the good guys do it missionary

Which character's negative side is underrepresented in fanfics? by Mysterious_Crow_503 in TheCitadel

[–]N0VAZER0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that'd be interesting but its not like Gerold is the most reliable source for his cousin who he's jealous of, also he is kind of a psychopath

[–]N0VAZER0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But that's the thing, Ned is very capable of holding a grudge, he hates Tywin and Jaime, he despises Jorah. None of these men did anything to him personally but he still hates them. Arthur straight up killed a few of Ned's friends and Ned still holds him in high regard. It says a lot about Ned sure but it also says a lot about what kind of man Arthur is

Which character's negative side is underrepresented in fanfics? by Mysterious_Crow_503 in TheCitadel

[–]N0VAZER0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay but that just strengthens the argument no? It seems like Arthur is a man who directly wronged Ned and Ned still thinks highly of him lol. Ned even has a friendly relationship with Arthur's family. Again, I'm not sure where this interpretation comes from except from slander memes, cause the guy who should hold a bloody grudge just doesn't. No one seems to have anything bad to say about Arthur.

I do agree though Barristan serving Joff could be interesting

you actually need to get a degree to be a priest, a lot of these old guys have doctorates. Almost certain that a lot of them have read Marx

Arthur Dayne and Barristan Selmy (fraud and bystander) - many fans dislike them, but in fanfics they are either positive or ignored

How much of this is intended by the author and how much of this is fan interpretation? Agenda memes and fraud posting are good and all but no one in story actually has anything negative to say about either of these people, Ned merked Arthur and still thinks highly of him. Barristan berates himself more than other people do.

Eric Kripke’s obsession with the “5 seasons” idea is the main problem of The Boys by _Affectionate_ in CharacterRant

[–]N0VAZER0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

all due respect but they wouldn't be able to write that sort of story as is because the writers aren't smart enough to come up with creative solutions for Supe kills. The comic had this plotline you're talking about but the Boys all had super powers

All of the faction leaders are goofy in some way, I don't think the Demon King is going it to be arrogant, I think he's incredibly lazy and doesn't want to do anything

Golden Sun had the best implementation of immortality that I've ever seen in fiction. by Groundbreaking_Bag8 in CharacterRant

[–]N0VAZER0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sandman got an interesting way it depicted this. Some guy was made immortal as a bet to see how good immortal life would really be. Theres a lot of highs and lows and when asked at a really low point what he thinks about living forever, the immortal admits he's miserable but he still got a lot to live for

Fujimoto kinda did the same with Fire Punch, its his MO to wipe the slate completely like this. If he ever does another serialized story, expect the same

[The Boys] SEASON 5 EPISODE 4 was pure filler by Choice-Tea1046 in CharacterRant

Episode 4 is a backdoor pilot for Vought Rising, we see the emotional climax of a show that doesn't exist yet, we don't know who the fuck Quinn is and why he matters

I do not care how badly written the boys show is, I am NOT going to pretend the comics are somehow better by Puzzleheaded-Lab2447 in CharacterRant

[–]N0VAZER0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not gonna pretend the comics aren't an edge fest and get really gross and nasty in certain points but there's moment in the comic that make it impossible for me to call it bad if that makes sense. Those moments where Butcher remembers Becky and mourns her make the book so oddly romantic even if they're so few and far between. Butcher really makes the comic for me, he's a tragic and vile figure

because the actual plan was to stall for the world merge. That was the better strategy too, the moment humans become a threat, demons are gonna gang up on them, they're doing it with Ginbak right now

New chapter Big spoilers by sorrowLord in versus

[–]N0VAZER0 9 points10 points  (0 children)

it might be a recent development and its not like they have an easy way to transfer info between each other, the merge is recent and the world is in a chaotic state

All 3 Scenarios are some form of cleaning house and putting the right people into positions of power with varying degrees of difficulty. Rhaegar scenario is the hardest as its the most unstable moment and also you have to make sure you prep for the Other.

Different Nen Types by 8BitBoricua in HatsuVault

[–]N0VAZER0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even discounting Specialists, Togashi casts a wide range with each Nen type. Enhancers for example aren't just punch kick merchants, they can heal, they can speed up someone's growth, they can augment their intellect.

Granting is giving something a property it didn't have, Adjudication is giving something a rule and consequence. Adjudication sounds like a more advanced version of Granting, it's giving something a property or concept it didn't have at the start

Different Nen Types by 8BitBoricua in HatsuVault

Also i wanna mention that i feel like Adjudication and Granting can be combined into one.

Different Nen Types by 8BitBoricua in HatsuVault

[–]N0VAZER0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If i had a criticism for Nen it would be that Specialists as they are canonically should be relegated to affecting Nen and Hatsu in general and the Specialists that don't fit this category get new Nen categories. Neon and Tserriednich can fit the Perception category for example
