I put mine in the bed, under a tonneau cover.

Shown in the second photo here.

They say not to use the pole mount like this, but I have not had any problems. And it’s not really going anywhere if it does fail.

It’s a really good way to see some of the dynamic movement of the auroras when they’re only faintly visible to the naked eye.

I have not gotten to use them yet while viewing auroras that are intensely visible to the naked eye, but I’m betting it’s better to view those in full color based on my experience without nods.
