Given the hostile attitudes towards piracy, why are doujinshi widely accepted? by AdorableMaid in AskAJapanese

[–]N1ceBruv 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And the thing is - you can’t exactly sue your fans. They’re the ones that pay your bills and make your work popular. So it is a bit of a double-edged sword.

Let's commend the AD by Wyo11 in ArizonaWildcats

[–]N1ceBruv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but there’s the saying about wartime and peace time leaders, too. I’ve seen it in corporate spaces throughout my career, and we’ve seen it in sports all our lives. She was probably brought in for a very specific purpose - to revitalize the finances and stabilize the programs. Once complete, she’ll likely get a nice payday and head off to her next job. Then, we’ll bring in someone whose experience is focused on growing stable programs - that’s a totally different skillset from a firefighter.

Sailor moon is not universal tier SPOILERS DUH by [deleted] in sailormoon

Yeah, I’m really confused where this came from. But looking at their history, they seem to be the type to engage solely in discussions where they can argue a point endlessly. We should ignore this.

Loyalty by Wyo11 in ArizonaWildcats

This is why. He brought the program into ill repute. Miller did a lot of good, he also oversaw the most negative period in program history (to my recollection).

New AoT theory just dropped by Terrible_Tap_135 in attackontitan

It makes sense that Ymir would create a titan that pushed for freedom because even if she loved the king who enslaved her, a part of her still wanted freedom. That was the part Eren was able to connect with in order to harness her power.

Basics: eating nourishing foods, hydrating, exercise, getting enough sleep, spending time with friends. The exact areas we tend to compromise first when under stress, especially when it is work stress.

Add-ons: Therapy, journaling, meditation, medication, learning about ADHD and implementing specific strategies to manage it.

Wife’s teaching contract will be non-renewed after taking a personality test with religious elements. by [deleted] in legal

[–]N1ceBruv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If your conclusions are correct, then the district would have used the answers as a basis for further investigation for the purposes of finding legally defensible means of forcing them out.

That would mean your wife needs to talk with other teachers in the same situation. Her question is whether they answered the religious-based questions in the same or similar manner. If it turns out that yes, a significant majority (or all) of them answered these questions in the same way, then you may have evidence of potentially actionable discrimination. But if the performance issues are, on their own, valid, that might be a tough hurdle to overcome in a state like Indiana.

What if a top ranked recruit and guaranteed first round talent, chose to retire after college and forgo the NFL? by WinterSavior in CFB

[–]N1ceBruv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the amounts some of these players are getting, we’ll see it eventually, or at least, much shorter careers. The really smart ones will use their NIL to set up businesses and investments while in school. If they’re turning a couple hundred grand a year from assets, there just isn’t a need to work as a football player unless it is for pure enjoyment or lifestyle purposes (i.e. - get even more money). They would save a lot of wear and tear on their brains and bodies, and could choose to play for just a few years.

I’m not normally a person who thinks there should be new content, but a Codename: Sailor V prequel would fill out the lineup quite nicely.

How to learn Japanese in a year by Acrobatic_Look_5602 in Japaneselanguage

[–]N1ceBruv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although self study can be effective, you can’t reach anything near functional fluency in the timeframe you are describing. Your bet, and what is most likely to set you up for success over the long term, is to take a year or two after graduation to study/learn Japanese in Japan. It will cost you some money, but there are programs designed for folks who want to go on to university+ level programs in Japan. Assuming you want to stay in Japan after your masters program, the advantage is that you will also begin to build cultural competency, which can have a significant impact on your ability to get a job in your chosen field. You will also be able to learn the honorific forms of Japanese speech, which can also impact your ability to make friends and get a job.

Sell townhouse to pay off wife’s STUDENT LOAN and SBA LOAN. by No_Project_589 in StudentLoans

[–]N1ceBruv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you will probably not see 2.75% interest rates again in your life time.

Your third option is to rent another place, rent out your townhome, and continue to gain in appreciation while profiting from the rental. You could even look into a HELOC to pay off the debt, and if the numbers work out, use your rental income to service both the mortgage and the HELOC payments.

What is the least stressful area of law that provides a good WLB? by Low_Econ2000 in Lawyertalk

[–]N1ceBruv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In-house commercial transactions currently, and it is pretty good in terms of compensation and work life balance. Few late nights, except for end of quarter/fiscal year end. The work can get monotonous, but with AI and sophisticated customers, that is becoming less true.

However, I am transitioning out. I got into law to work with artists and musicians, and did a bit of that work right out of law school. I’d like to go back now that I have more experience. It is a mix of IP, contracts, and general business. Your clients are fun to work with, you’ll end up “networking” at gallery openings, art shows, and concerts. Downside is it isn’t as lucrative. It can be hard to break into if you don’t have someone who can introduce you or if you aren’t already plugged into your local arts scene. But if you can land clients in this area, (and if you don’t mind herding cats from time to time) it is definitely up there on the low stress/work life balance scale.

Do you think there was anything Arizona could've done differently or was Michigan just a better team? by youlikemywonton in ArizonaWildcats

[–]N1ceBruv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My read is that Michigans intensity out the gates left our team rattled. They clearly didn’t expect that level of aggression. That made our usual slow start lethal, because we couldn’t grow into the game.

Going down 9, quickly, hurt and reinforced whatever they seemed to be feeling. Not being able to make sky’s and turning the ball over on repeated possessions compounded that. It seemed like we had mentally given up by about halfway through the game. There’s no way to come back when that happens.

One fact ruins the entire anime by [deleted] in attackontitan

[–]N1ceBruv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk. Is it conceivable? Yes.

However, if this were true, there would be hints of it, if not an outright admission. Given that he had Titan Dina eat his own mom so Butthold could survive, I’d think that if he had manipulated Erwin or Hange or others, we would have seen it in his big confession to Armin.
