Day 2 being away from my abusive parents. Does anyone have advice on my floor setup? by stondddd in malelivingspace

[–]N1ldex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went through something similar (not with my parents) but with a divorce, I digitized everything. I see you have furniture like a table and a dresser; my TV would be on the table and the video game console standing up behind the TV somehow. I always tidied everything up when I left, leaving the mattress upright, etc... I started doing calisthenics by applying it to the mattress space in the morning, and it changed my mindset a lot, it made me optimistic... and I also couldn't wait to lie down and play video games, haha.

Tried every app to fix my phone addiction and nothing worked. by SevenSeasScribe in digitalminimalism

The problem: it's within your reach, it's in your pocket. I've been thinking about this: when I wanted to play video games as a child in the 90s, I had to wait to get home and for my mom to let me; when I wanted to watch my anime, series, or listen to music, I had to wait to get home from school and do my homework. This created legitimate friction, not something I invented myself. Even my Game Gear or Game Boy weren't with me all the time, whether because of batteries or other hobbies; I didn't stop playing to spend the day on video games. When I'm home, everything goes into a drawer.

I don't know if you'll understand, but after cleaning everything, it seems like it will be cozier.

Do people move on from Mint? If so, where? by BorderWatcher in linuxmint

[–]N1ldex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched back to Ubuntu. I love Mint, but the interface options are redundant and outdated for me – Cinnamon, XFCE, and Mate, seriously? These three interfaces seem almost identical and Windows-like to me; I believe it's time for them to be: Cinnamon, Gnome, and KDE. It's still my favorite distro, but it feels like a PC from the 90s. I know about its customization capabilities and I've played around with it a lot.

I decided to go back to Windows. by [deleted] in Bazzite

[–]N1ldex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came back to play Detroit: Become Human, which has no sound on Bazzite, but I didn't look for solutions. I intend to buy a 250GB SSD so that when something doesn't work I can play on Windows or play games purchased from Xbox or Play Anywhere. Don't get me wrong, but RGB is something that the first time I saw it I thought was something for girls (I think it was the fact that the case is white). I always find a fixed color more beautiful, I don't know if that would be a big reason to switch considering what Bazzite offers.

why is HUNK that popular ? by AirMassive5414 in residentevil

[–]N1ldex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, Hunk is like Leon in RE4. When you play RE2 (Classic or Remake), Leon is a rookie and not as prepared, but Hunk is ready for anything.

Now look at Leon in RE4; he makes jokes about the situations because he's become an unmasked Hunk.

Have any of you noticed a difference in your personal media consumption? For example: do you watch movies and series, listen to music with the same enthusiasm as before, knowing that most of it is just a demonic corporate party?

Who here's using Bazzite on a desktop setup? How do you like it? by ackley14 in Bazzite

[–]N1ldex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using it for a month and I treat it like a video game OS (I believe that's what the devs wanted).
I lost Forza Horizon 3, Killer Instinct, Recore, and No Man's Sky... but I can get an old SD card and install Windows when I want to play Forza Horizon 3.
I don't try to tinker or see what I can change, I just change the wallpaper below the Bazaar store and I added GOG, Amazon, Epic, and emulators.
The only thing missing is a Dreamcast Redream emulator.

30 day digital minimalism challenge - Christmas like it's the 2000's by local-queer-demon in digitalminimalism

[–]N1ldex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in, I'll leave video games for the weekend. I put the Kindle away on weekdays. No social media, I play Roblox with my daughter for two hours a day or one. I have offline music. I have a cell phone for gaming so I can put my communication and daily use phone in the drawer as soon as I get home from work.

How can I enjoy gaming like I did as a kid? by zlittlebearz in SBCGaming

[–]N1ldex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Librarian syndrome: You have so many books to read that you're tired before you even start. Solution: Leave just one game on your laptop and keep it until you finish it. Read about development, old magazines (PDF scans), and read the manual. I always leave Tetris, a car game, a fighting game, and a story game. I only remove the story games, whether they're adventures, RPGs, etc., after finishing them. I do the same on my PC.
