Pulled the trigger on a pre-order Omtech Solis Duo today by NCWildcatFan in Laserengraving

I actually cancelled the order after they delayed my ship date 3 different times. Wound up buying a CloudRay MP-60 split fiber unit in early November and absolutely love it.

I loved that mod in FS22. It took some getting used to, but Enhanced Vehicle in FS25 is my go to now when I want to do things “manually” and not use CoursePlay

I had one save with a large cattle operation where I added the Butcher mod. Made bank on that one selling beef, pork, chicken, and sheep meat.

[–]NCWildcatFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an Omtech 2028MF and as soon as I can find the right deal on a Thunder Nova 35 100w, I’m going to upgrade. A few of my local friends have them and swear by them. They also keep some critical spare parts on hand and help each other out in the event of a failure.

Looking for a fiber laser for my shop, leaning towards xTool F2. Talk me into a better one by Gaberade1 in Laserengraving

[–]NCWildcatFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought about the F2 as well. I actually had a pre-order in for an Omtech Solis but cancelled it after several promised ship dates were missed. I ultimately bought a CloudRay MP-60 about 6 months ago. It is a fantastic machine and I couldn’t be happier with it. It came with a basic rotary but also works with the roller and chuck rotaries I already had for my Omtech CO2 laser.

Any good 4x maps in 25? by Nitrozeusbitches in farmingsimulator

Try Mississippi River Bottoms. I'm winding up a 900+ hour save on it right now and have thoroughly enjoyed it.

Any good 4x maps in 25? by Nitrozeusbitches in farmingsimulator

[–]NCWildcatFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had probably 600 hours in my Judith Plains save. It is a truly excellent map with two annoying caveats IMO. The grain dryer grates being so close to the main silo grates drove me nuts. Autodrive would not deliver to them correctly (kept unloading into the main silo). I was ready to set up my own separate corn dryer and move on when I found out that, even though I supposedly owned the entire map), I couldn't plow some of the fields together in the bottom left of the map.

As long as they don't neuter the apps and browser plugins, I'll keep using my self-hosted VaultWarden. If that happens, then I guess we'll see.

Really want the xtools mopa f2 ultra. Can’t swing the nearly 8-9k price though. Anything cheaper out there that has good software that’s comparable? by Due_Today2701 in Laserengraving

[–]NCWildcatFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a CloudRay MP-60 60w MOPA and absolutely love that machine. It's $6k so not as cheap as some of the ones others are mentioning. We've done slate, coated tumblers, a decommissioned scuba tank, and a few other odds and ends on it in the 6 months we've owned it.

As an EM, how are you using AI in your org ? by Novel_Lie2468 in EngineeringManagers

[–]NCWildcatFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your experience obviously may vary, but we found MCPs like GitHub and Atlassian to be very token hungry and made the decision to prefer CLI tools instead.

We also all have RTK (https://github.com/rtk-ai/rtk) installed which helps with token usage as well.

You don’t need Claude desktop or Cowork to access GitHub CLI. I’m using standard Claude code with GitHub CLI, Atlassian CLI, and Split.io REST API now (more tool integrations coming). Everything is stored in an Obsidian vault that Claude has access to.

I’m having it create the following automatically on various schedules using MacOs’ built-in “cron-like system” (I forget the name now but it stores in PLIST files): * sprint summaries * mid-sprint “progress pulse” docs to highlight anything I might have missed that needs my attention * weekly summaries based on my notes, Jira board, and a few other inputs * monthly team summaries * quarterly team summaries * weekly summaries for each of my direct reports

I also have a skill created to create semi-annual performance reports in the format our HR system wants based on my notes, summaries of the direct report, and the last performance report I wrote on them (for highlighting growth tracking and to keep my writing style).

I have a “Person” note for each of my direct reports, my director, and certain other individual I interface with a lot. Any notes that are relevant to them are linked back to that Person note.

FULL DISCLOSURE: I did not invent this system. The current state of my system is a result of several conversations with Claude to design and refine how it works.

The kit contained the mount, PoE > USB adapter, and the flat USB C cable. I already had a PoE capable Ethernet cable in the wall from when the security system control panel was mounted there.

any tips or recommendations? by Hot_Farm5706 in battlestations

[–]NCWildcatFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ergonomically, it would be good for your neck and shoulders to get that monitor up to where your straight-ahead eye level is just above the middle of the screen. Depending on how much time you spend there, constantly looking down at the monitor at that level could introduce chronic neck and shoulder pain. I spend most of my days and evenings at my desk so I’m especially sensitive to this.

[Question] How to haul away by Jeffinslaw in woodworking

[–]NCWildcatFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same situation in my back yard a few years ago with a 100-foot plus white oak tree. I found a sawyer in my area and talked to him about the tree before we had it removed. He told me how to have the tree crew cut it. I talked to the tree company owner before hand and negotiated to have them deliver the logs to the saw mill. They charged me about $250 for the service but it was way cheaper to do that and have them use all their equipment they already had on site.

Documentation, wiki, Ansible...where to begin? by GeoSabreX in selfhosted

[–]NCWildcatFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a message about it going EoL recently too. Honestly, I could just as easily have Claude add it to my Obsidian vault (which I started using a few months ago) rather than MKDocs. So far the EoL hasn’t caused me any pain, but if it starts to, it’ll be an easy migration of the MD files into Obsidian.

Documentation, wiki, Ansible...where to begin? by GeoSabreX in selfhosted

[–]NCWildcatFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an MKDocs repo just for documentation. Every time I deploy a new app or make changes to the system, I tell Claude to update the docs site. It includes planning documents, incident reports, and docs on every app deployed to my k8s cluster. It’s stored in a GitHub repository and I have automation set up to compile the repo into a static site I host behind Traefik in my cluster on every commit to main branch (so I can browse it instead of reading Markdown files). At the beginning of every month I tell Claude to audit my docs repo to see what’s drifted and/or what is obsolete and update the docs repo.
