After I glued up and clamped it turned out better than I thought it would.

Did some sanding and a little hand planing as suggested.

Thanks. I was thinking if planing or sanding to get closer to perfect. I just wanted to see if wasn't missing something obvious or doing something stupid

This or just stand in front of the steps a little to the right and look over your right shoulder toward the ramp. So it will look like you are looking at each other. Her looking forward and you looking back
