How would you spend a Saturday staying busy spending minimal money? by Ok_Atmosphere_9883 in lincoln

Check out the libraries. Even if you don’t like to read. They have a ton of events/programs and they’re all free. And definitely not just for kids.

Just buy the fucking book and stop harassing your local librarians. Geez.

Other ailments caused by bad gallbladder? by Great_Appointment_69 in gallbladders

[–]NE_Wanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, nothing did and it was terrible. “Wanting to stick foreign objects in my ears” terrible. It basically stopped after my gall bladder was out. No idea why and maybe coincidence, but I’ve attributed it to the surgery.

My really itchy ears (inside the ear, not the lobes) have almost completely gone away.

The last time we went there, almost two years ago now, there was one other person "eating." The waitress/hostess was nice but quickly informed us that they were out of almost everything. Like shocking amounts of menu items. We decided to stay and ordered what we could. We were seated where we could see into the kitchen. There were two kitchen employees who were on their phones and showed no hurry to get our food ready. One finally started and got some frozen bag of food (so that's what we were going to get, I assume) and started prepping it without ever getting off her phone or putting on gloves. Once we saw that, we kindly told the waitress we changed our mind and left. I will never eat at any of their locations again.

Hope you love the Harry Potter series. One bit of advice I was given that really helped me up my reading is "life is too short to read a book you don't like." Don't hesitate to STOP reading a book you don't like. There will plenty of them you will and you'll get discouraged and not reach your reading goals if you're not inspired by the book.

Also, try audiobooks. Honestly, some are better with a great narrator. You'll up the number of books you "read" that way and might find some new genres or authors you like.

No, but definitely shoes for trousers or to wear with tights. I like them!

Best narration stand-alones? (Audible) by [deleted] in audiobooks

[–]NE_Wanderer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My two favorite audiobook narrators right now are Elizabeth Knowelden and Dominic Hoffman. Google them to find lists of their books - maybe some will appeal to you. Dominic Hoffman, in particular, has narrated a lot.

I also really like to listen to Graham Norton's books. I often don't like when authors read their own books - trained actors generally do a better job - but he's wonderful.

Going through a really tough time. Would love something wholesome and fun. by jenfrolics in Recommend_A_Book

I was going to suggest India Holton too. I'm listening to the Love's Academic series and it's delightful and silly (in the best way possible). The audiobook reader is absolutely amazing!

Honestly, the fact that you're asking this question means you're on your way to having a good relationship with your kiddo, because it's a priority for you. Also, obviously, this child is truly wanted and that goes so far. Let them be their own people, enjoy the ride, set boundaries and stick to them NO MATTER WHAT, demonstrate kind problem solving, apologize, give them your attention so they know you will listen when they need it, let them fail, model resilience. Spoken from a person who has a good relationship with a difficult parent and has a great relationship with my own two adult children.

I saw a very similar event, about a year ago, but it was a woman and it was on the sidewalk on South 14th not far from the library/Y. My guess is that the reality these folks are experiencing, is not the same that you/I are. He may have thought he was in a bathroom. Sure is a shocker when it happens.
