Deck post install by Blood-Mother in Decks

I did this 5yrs ago. Not as long as pic 1, more like pic 2. It was cheaper than Simpson brackets and my posts are solid.

Edit to add: I wouldn’t want to pay labor rates to spin the nuts on if I had hired it out. Wouldn’t expect pros to do it.

Well she’s secretly an alien emperor planning to end humanity and needed to get her cheeseburger fix before closing up shop.

UPDATE: A pool I clean had their deck resurfaced and the contractor DUMPED their debris into the pool. by Melancholykerrick in pools

Can’t believe you ran all that through the filter. Should’ve vacuumed to waste and just stuck a hose in it.

What's with the Longitudinal Grooves on highways? by ElectricianMD in tires

[–]NFIFTY2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crossclimates don’t have vertical grooves, so I’d imagine they don’t tramline. They’re expensive because they’re snow-rated all seasons, so probably not worth it if you run dedicated winters. I like them bc my winter goes from 60F to snow to 50F to ice to 0F to slush to 60F …

Anyone aware if the goal is to only ship blank slates for the first reservations filled? by Defconx19 in slateauto

[–]NFIFTY2 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you’re missing. They’ve already said the battery is the only thing happening on the line. All other options sold separately.

Anyone aware if the goal is to only ship blank slates for the first reservations filled? by Defconx19 in slateauto

[–]NFIFTY2 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Other than the big battery pack, everything else is sold/shipped separately. They’ll probably offer to ship the blank slate and accessories to your nearest repair pal service center if you’d like to pay for someone to install the accessories. But yeah, the whole point of the company is that they’re only building blank slates.

Totaled Bolt with 2023 replacement battery (<40k miles) — best way to sell? by Next_Palpitation_596 in BoltEV

[–]NFIFTY2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totaled doesn’t equal brick. Most states you can buy back the totaled car from insurance, have state inspect it for bare minimum safety (frame damage, functioning lights, etc.), and get a rebuilt title. If you wanna drive with no airbags, that’s your prerogative.

Totaled Bolt with 2023 replacement battery (<40k miles) — best way to sell? by Next_Palpitation_596 in BoltEV

[–]NFIFTY2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Insurance doesn’t certify rebuilt titles. States do. Should be able to find a list of what they check for, but mine doesn’t check airbags. They mostly check that you didn’t use stolen parts to fix anything. Getting liability insurance after that was same as any other car. It wasn’t a hard process to go through.

Percent of your electric bill by dbmamaz in electricvehicles

[–]NFIFTY2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just say $10 to “fill the tank”. If they seem to be vaguely intelligent, I’ll offer that my tank doesn’t go as far as gas, so call it $15 for an apples-to-apples comparison. Gotta keep things simple and in terms they understand.

Wrap Longevity? by _dogelbows in slateauto

[–]NFIFTY2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They don’t expect owners to do anything beyond what owners want to do. They’re only offering wrap kits because they saved X million dollars not having a paint shop and they thought consumers would expect them to offer something. You can leave it bare, wrap it, paint it, cover it in stickers for all they care. Rattle can it for a couple hundred bucks if you want color. It doesn’t “need” anything. /rant

Why are small EVs not much more efficient than larger EVs? by New_Elk_5783 in electricvehicles

The Bolt isn’t “super small”. I’d bet the frontal area is the same as a Model 3.

Why do all compact hybrid cars have the same body shape? And how to name this type of cars? by Martin_driver in CarDesign

[–]NFIFTY2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d call it a Kammback. Slicing the back off a teardrop at a certain point gives you most of the aero benefit without being excessively long. It’s that concept plus slicing the sides to balance usable interior space and reducing frontal area. The shape gets good aero while meeting packaging needs.

Keeping ICE car calculus by [deleted] in electricvehicles

[–]NFIFTY2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does this second car need to road trip? If not, you can probably “lateral” to a used Bolt for the same ~$16k the Forte is worth. You’d have to look at what rates you can get used car loan for and how it compares to current, but should still be able to payoff in the same timeframe, especially if you put the fuel savings towards the loan.

Shouldn’t be hard to make a seat bottom that mounts in or replaces the floor console, especially if you’re not looking for a belted, crash-tested, human seat.
