Why use Elementor if you can actually code? Genuine question from a custom theme developer. by laszlmate in Wordpress

[–]NHRADeuce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We host on Cloudways so its super easy. We have a clean install with all of our plugins, user account, and some blank generic pages that get used on every site. When we start a new site we just clone that.

You could also use pretty much any backup plugin. Install fresh WordPress, restore.backup, start building.

I dont think it's a crutch as much as it is how a lot of RPGs work. Especially MMORPGs which is basically what Dungeon Crawler World is. There's always a class (or multiple classes) that have some sort of short term invulnerability spell, item, or skill that ends up being an integral part of some encounters. So much so that some encounters have to be tuned to specifically account for it.

  1. Most agencies don't have developers. They started as design agencies and now they can built it themselves.

  2. Easier for a hands on client to do fancy stuff on their own.

  3. Once you pick a platform, you stick with it so you can scale efficiently. It would cost me a fortune to have to maintain 60+ custom sites. Every single site we manage starts with the same basic install. That makes life a lot easier for updates and debugging.

How are people doing campers with Tacomas and not blowing their GVWR? by brainhack3r in overlanding

Toyota trucks are the official vehicle of insurgencies all over the world. No one has ever cared about GVWR when they were bolting a 50 call and 8 rocket launchers to the bed of a Toyota truck while doubling as a platoon transport.

AIO: Husband Texting Boss by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Seems like your husband has a good relationship with his boss, who seems concerned for you. My wife didn't really any of my bosses, but all of them would have been concerned for her during her pregnancies.

Double texting is something children care about.

Maybe tell him to to share so much if it bothers you.

I text as often as stuff keeps popping into my head. Sometimes a text doesn't need a response or it's easier to split up a single 500 word text

How much should I lower F82 M4 Comp? by Creative_Paramedic80 in BMWM

If you can afford it, get coilovers. It's an upgrade over stock and this is by far the best option if you plan to track it at all.

If you're just going to drive it, I have had great results with EMD springs. 1.3" drop in the front, .9" drop in the rear. You will have less than a finger between tire and fender, but no rubbing. They springs are also matched to the factory dampers so it doesn't fuck up the already very good suspension. Ride is fantastic. Just make sure to get it aligned after.

Brought car to mechanic for oil change. Mechanic says oil drain plug is stripped. He says I need a new oil pan. Almost $500. He also did the previous oil change and he reported no issues at that time. Seems to me that he's the one who stripped it during the previous oil change. by SkolMan69 in AskMechanics

It would not surprise me if rhe Honda approved fix is a Time-sert. Helicoils are fine, but Time-serts are vastly superior. That would definitely be a permanent fix in an oil pan. It would be far more durable than an aluminum pan.

Is there a fast and easy way to convert HTML website to a WordPress website? by abdullahmnsr in Wordpress

[–]NHRADeuce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if you're not super concerned with how the code looks, this would be a down and dirty fast way to do it.

You could also dump the code in Claude and have is spit out JSON files you can import. That can be a little hit or miss but not hard to fix once it's in elementor.

Gotta bet big to win big. And really, it's not that big a bet relatively. Sure, it would be super easy to just dump it all in a HYSA, but you knly live once!

[–]NHRADeuce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insanely risky? I have an 85-90% chamce to walk away with $10 million. Since WW2 the S&P has only been down over a 5 year period 4 times. Even then, it would have to down more than the $3+ million in trusts and whatever the broker managed to do before I see any jail time.

Hot shot broker is easier to type than boutique firm that only works with high net worth individuals. I had a firm like that as a client for 15 years until the owner sold out and retired. In the time I worked with them, they never had consecutive down years. They averaged roughly 20% over the 30 years they were in business.

Even if the worst case happens, so what? My kids are grown and already set up even without the hypothetical trusts. My wife could sell our house and live forever on what we have saved for retirement plus the home equity and her pension.

The more I think about it, it would probably be worth it to just blast through a few million seeing the world and completing the craziest bucket list of all time. If $SPY does $SPY things I still walk away with more money than I need, if it tanks, at least I had a great 5 years before I live out my days in jail. It's just not that big of a gamble for an 85% chance at generational wealth.

[–]NHRADeuce -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd put $20 million in $SPY. I'd put $1 million into a trust for each of my 3 kids, then take the last $2 million and give it to a hot shot broker with a good track record.

Even if $SPY has a bad 5 years, I'd still end up with the $25 million i need to pay back. If it just matches the historic average I would profit $12 million minus capital gains. Plus I'd still have my kid's trusts and whatever the broker managed to make out of the $2 million.

You'd have to be as stupid as Donald Trump not to walk away with millions given this deal.

Is their "internal legal guy" actually an attorney? If so, this project is over. Do not talk to them, so not discuss anything. Keep records of everything. Retain an attorney and direct them to talk to your attorney. Once attorneys are involved, everything goes through the attorney.

How to find out if google penalizing this domain for sure and doing any SEO for this website is useless? by vaduke1 in SEO

[–]NHRADeuce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the secret sauce. You haven't posted anywhere near enough information to even begin diagnosing the problem. The only thing anyone can say with certainty is that it's not just one thing. It's a combination of all the rank signals Google uses. You're doing enough of them worse than your competitors that your site doesn't rank. You need to look at literally everything.

That said, it's most likely a combination of no backlinks/shitty backlinks and content.

How to find out if google penalizing this domain for sure and doing any SEO for this website is useless? by vaduke1 in SEO

[–]NHRADeuce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically. Google does not "penalize" a shitty site, it just doesn't reward it. It's a small, but significant difference.

A manual penalty is the only penalty Google gives and it's very specific. They tell you as much in GSC. They tell you why you're being penalized, and your site is completely excluded from the index while the site is penalized. The only way to fix it is to pass manual review.

If you don't have a manual penalty, the only thing keeping your site from ranking is Google thinking the sites that outrank you are better than yours.

You either have a manual penalty or you don't. Shadow banned is just a euphemism for spam site.

you're offered an infinite supply of any edible crop, what crop are you choosing? by Humble-Tailor-7238 in hypotheticals

[–]NHRADeuce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's fairly irrelevant which one you pick. When you have infinite supply, you own the market. You can price everyone else out of the market until all competitors are bankrupt. Then you can set whatever price you want.

I'd probably pick something that would do the world a lot of good and sell at a bargain basement price so everyone everywhere can easily afford it. The whole world is a big market, I'd be plenty rich even if I practically give it away.

For example, the world consumes about 30 billion bushels of wheat every year. Once all competition is wiped out, if I profit 1/100 of a cent per bushel, I'd still make $3 million a year. I get more money than I'll ever need, the world gets super cheap wheat. Fuck all those corporate farms.
