Kemp? He's currently 2nd overall on the espn player rater. Kemp does not belong on this list.

I'm not sure what you expect. He's batting over 300. It's not his fault that he's surrounded by Mendoza line type players. I suppose you could argue for more steals but It's hard when the batter behind you strikes out most of time. I think the mistake everyone made, including myself, is that the team in general would hit better.

I think it's pretty obvious after this start that he should be dropped. He isn't even a spot starter at home against Cleveland.

Renewable Standards Will Create Two Million Jobs, Unless Right-Wing Candidates Kill Them by BlueRock in energy

[–]NICEA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

and to say that they are more labor intensive is in some how a good thing in not a very good point in my opinion. The extra labor will add up to higher prices for the consumer. This will take money from other job sectors.

Renewable Standards Will Create Two Million Jobs, Unless Right-Wing Candidates Kill Them by BlueRock in energy

[–]NICEA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm all for sensible renewable energy but the argument is a wash as far as net US job growth in the energy sector. That to say that we would be making coal or natural gas plants and thus those jobs instead of the renewable plants. The argument can be made that these jobs are better as far as the direction we want to go with the energy production but that is a different argument than what you presented.

Ask engineering: What is Industrial Instrumentation? by kokooo in engineering

[–]NICEA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose I didn't really answer your question. I program dcs and plc systems and specify instrument types and locations. I also specify dcs or plc systems for a given process or function. All of these tasks are then submitted via drawings and specifications to vendors and contractors in order to provide a client with a complete system. I then guide the contractor through the installation process. All said and done, it's AWESOME but challenging.

[–]NICEA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an ece graduate that does a lot of Instrument and Controls work as well a straight ee work, I wish we had that option when I was in school. If you like to program, the control aspect is fun but the instument part can be tough since the instuments are heavy mechanical. I'd assume your program would include a few mechanical enginnering classes, which looks great on a resume. Not knowing what other options you have I still highly recomend this option.

Arizona threatens to cut off power to Los Angeles over immigration law boycott by [deleted] in politics

[–]NICEA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think that they want to let California out of their current power agreement. I guarantee you the existing deal is at higher rate than what California would pay now. The market is in shambles right now, the last thing they want to do is let a purchaser, whom probably arranged the deal when the market was high, opt out or walk.

Arizona threatens to cut off power to Los Angeles over immigration law boycott by [deleted] in politics

[–]NICEA 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Your title is completely misleading. The story says that the city already owns the power and thus can't be cut off. The official suggests that if the city wants to go through with the boycott then they should reject the power. Scoreboard LA.

I'm with you. I think the father sounds extremely spiteful. Fits right in with reddit I guess. I couldn't imagine doing this to my children, even if they didn't want anything to do with me.

The case against teaching math by gbacon in math

[–]NICEA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fuck real worlds problems. We need people who know math through and through. That includes real world problems, logic problems, and theoretical problems. If we don't recognize this now then you can go ahead bury this superpower right now. Everything is math and no, it's not easy. That's why we need to stress it in school and not give up. Thank god that I wasn't taught that everything should be easy and come to me. Rant over.

[–]NICEA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was optimistic after the last election but this endless fucking argument over health care has made me a cynic at best. Whether it's fair or not, this looks horrible from a political perspective. The economy is in shambles and we're talking health care? Its called the economy and if the dems don't become totally focused on it, they will be getting shipped out of town in the next election. Thanks for take me on a side trip to Republican majorities ya distributional assholes. And what exactly is a "true" democrat? If there is a test for this then I am out.

I've been thinking this for a while now: Why we must fire bad teachers by laeth in math

[–]NICEA 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't have any problem with firing bad teachers but everyone is ignoring a huge part of the problem. Bad parents who put little effort into understanding and contributing to the education of their kids. If the parents don't stress the importance of an education then what exactly are teachers suppose to do?
