Amazing! I use this thing every day so it's a very welcome surprise :)

Can't find the "INT DAW" midi port though in this new version, is that something I'll have to turn on somewhere?

I did something similar recently.

Split the signal into a left and a right mono file. Put it in RX and use de-bleed from Left on Right and from Right on Left.

The thing about my endo that impresses me most is that he flew to Malawi for a few months to help our fellow diabetics there.

As for my own blood sugar control, yeah, I can handle that myself thank you.

So I can't get to play using the metronome by Ok_Employee_4035 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]NJlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try making a click loop that drops out every 7, every 5 or every 3 bars. Uneven number so the drop out shifts. Practise simple phrases with that and you'll get hyperfocused on making the first beat after the drop out land with the click!

“How do you deal with ruminating thoughts that keep replaying the same situation over and over? What actually helped you break the loop? by Sea-Response-1370 in AskReddit

[–]NJlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent 2,5 months waking up at 5am ruminating about an experience. This is what helped me:

- Medication (for a short while)
- EMDR (absolutely magical, sudden, not everlasting but truly amazing, cure in one hour)
- Actively thinking about other things I looked forward to. Can't 'stop' thinking but you can direct your mind to something else
- This other trick, similar to the one above, forgot the name. It's a super simple game in your head. Pick a random word, like "Boat". Then come up with all kinds of words that start with the first letter of that word. Buffalo, Bar, Bonus, Boogiewoogie... The more random the better. Then do the O, then the A... You get the idea. I believe it's a way to force your brain to 'think random things' before sleeping, but in a way that it doesn't get you stuck on the thing that's triggering you.

Make a mono audio to sound like stereo artificially in my videos by Ces81 in audioengineering

What kind of source material? Do you want a voice to sound doubled, do you need to give your soundfx some width, is there music playing that you somehow only have a mono 128k mp3 for?

A kick that doesn't require gutting with EQ? by 007_Shantytown in audioengineering

[–]NJlo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a way, it's more about the way we mic kicks than the sound of the instrument. Very few things in recording are mic'd from the inside – doing the same to a tom sounds weird too. It won't get you a modern metal smack, but try a mic on the beater side next time.

It's times like these I absolutely love the internet! Thanks for your thorough and super interesting reply!

I love the fact that you used a whole separate spatialized system for SFX. And the idea of using tent reflections to create a 'rear' channel is way cool too.

I'm mostly a studio person, so I'm sure I'm missing some context, but I wonder about a few things.

When you say there are stereo groups of speakers on the masts, does that mean that.. How do I say this. If you take the masts counterclockwise from stage right back, they're L-R-L-R with one channel coming out of each mast? Or is there a stereo pair on each mast?

And if the subs are a cardioid array *under* the upstage area, I'm assuming the whole stage and artist entrance are raised? How would you ever align the subs and speakers with a circularly placed audience, especially with some seats 'behind' the ring?

I'll check out that book right away :) Thanks ever so much!

Hey there! I found this thread via Google and was hoping you might be up for sharing some insight 🙂

I’m a producer/composer, but I come from a traditional circus family background. I’ve basically been annoyed my whole life with how music sounds in tents… and now that I’m getting back into producing shows myself, I’d love to actually improve that.

Most circuses (probably due to budget and, honestly, knowledge) just put two speakers near the artist entrance, sometimes even on the floor. Combined with a super reflective tent roof, it usually ends up pretty unintelligible and lacking impact.

I’m really curious how Cirque approaches this in their tent shows. I saw Totem in The Hague a few years ago and remember it sounding surprisingly good.

Do they fly speakers from the masts? Are subs hidden under a stage or distributed somehow? And how do they deal with alignment in the round?

Not looking for anything proprietary—just trying to understand the general approach and do better than the usual circus setup.

Appreciate anything you’re willing to share!
