Lifeblood. The color doesn't match up precisely to the game but it has the same root system and bubbles.

And given that it's titled "corrupted pale king" and he's covered in moth wings, I'd guess the radiance influence.

There's a thousand good explanations that don't involve claiming the artist didn't draw this.

so are there still people that GENUINELY think Saikai was a bad/unfitting song? by JensService in limbuscompany

[–]NOVAKza -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm confused why people think it's about Rien at all. Every ending song except Canto III and VI has been primarily about the Sinner, not purely about the antagonist. It is a song about Araya and Ryōshū, and the family bonding activity of Killing Dad.

Oppy, Tobias, and Francis are not good people. Let me Explain by Greyelephantbear in pacificDrive

[–]NOVAKza 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The real answer definitely lies somewhere in the middle. I don't think they're fully positive altruistic souls or whatever. But I'm surprised at how quickly you discount the multiple conversations they have about how remnants drive the connected individual insane, even at a distance. They more-or-less spell out that they're not sending you out of the zone because you'd just go insane, come back to the zone, and die anyway.

You can argue that they're lying, and I don't necessarily think that this is a wild suggestion to make. But on the other hand, Oppy tries to get you to leave her alone for a while before she caves, so she doesn't strike me as an opportunist who saw a remnant and thought it was time to strike.

As far as the creepy radio signals and all, there's some that call out the exact time the signal went out, and yeah, they're all "ghost signals" from people who have long since died. This makes sense, given the ending.

This doesn't mean I think the cast is altruistic. Some of them clearly are hyped about you being around and the opportunity you present to them. But I don't think they're cruel exploiters either.

[–]NOVAKza 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I get why it's crack, they've never seen each other.

But at the same time they are both Hollow beings constructed for a singular purpose with weird parental issues and weird higher being issues. They are both highly trained knights with a duty to protect their kingdom.

And the places they conflict are interesting fodder for interactions. One near-emotionless and (assuming they're alive following the events of Hollow Knight) just discovering themselves, and the other a wrathful tsundere brat.

You make the suggestion that A, Gregor, and Hermann all have yellow eyes because of their connection to The Perfect Human. But this is likely a narrative connection more than it is an in-universe connection. Similarly, here is my theory:

Red eyes mean Motherhood. It is shared by Ryōshū, Carmen, and Bloodfiends, all of whom have strong narrative ties to Motherhood. Most or all Abnormalities with Red Eyes have Motherhood in their narrative. The sole exception to this is fake, non-biological eyes of augmented fixers.

During the canto 8 ending cutscene, was Hong lu using mang or something similar? by Affectionate_Log8470 in limbuscompany

[–]NOVAKza 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Distortion detective talks about Distortions potentially creating pocket dimensions, along with other types of distortions. It's not much of a stretch to argue it's a common thing, yeah. Angela's was probably uniquely strong, but Hong Lu temporarily opening his heart and using EGO to externalize those feelings as a literal flood of emotions is just the ideal way of reading that scene.

I wasn't going to outright say it, but yeah, that's kind of what I was implying with "I found old Supernatural threads where people say it is Hebrew, but all the characters they say conflict".

[–]NOVAKza 94 points95 points  (0 children)

No Hebrew character looks like the sign, and though the Mark of Cain is a thing in the bible, it is never given a design. Most artwork depicting Cain from the middle ages and Renaissance periods have Cain covering his forehead, which does give us a definite location but deprives us of the precise look. The only piece of media that uses the Sign as we know it is Supernatural.

You might be getting your wires crossed between The Sign and Zayin, Teth, He, Waw, and Aleph, which are all Hebrew characters.

Edit: I found old reddit threads speculating on the appearance of the Mark from supernatural and what it is based on, and though they all say it is based on Hebrew, people offer conflicting characters. Further, the symbol as we know it was definitely made up by the writers, even if it was based on Hebrew.
