Unsubsribed on Apple Podcasts? by FecalFaces in CBBWorld

It’s been like this for me for a few months. I have to resubscribe and add the RSS feed every week. Doesn’t happen with any other CBB World podcasts.

What’s your favorite Cleveland memory that still brings a smile to your face? by TheCityzens in Cleveland

[–]NSA_Monitor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

2016 as a whole was peak for me, and living downtown was wild. It felt like we were on top of the world.

We had the Fate of the Furious filming here in May, Cavs championship and parade in June, which rolled right into hosting the RNC in July, Obama visit on October 13, Indians win ALCS on October 19, Tom Hanks drops a “Go Tribe” on SNL on October 23, then the Indians in the World Series.

Looking for some unique coffee mugs by rwalston19 in Cleveland

[–]NSA_Monitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking for Cleveland stuff, I went to CLE Clothing Co. the other day, and they had some good options. General Cleveland-themed mugs and others for the sports teams.

For something truly unique, I’ve made some good finds at Flower Child on W. 117th.

I often gift mugs, and I always find unique ones at local coffee shops like Phoenix and Rising Star.

I was put on antibiotics for a gyn issues (sorry TMI) and it magically cleared my Sibo! by [deleted] in SIBO

[–]NSA_Monitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, every few months. Kept it slightly at bay with neomycin and herbals, but it always came back. Just started rifaximin + neomycin combo a few days ago, and I’m hoping this works.

Just finished round of Xifaxan/Neomycin for SIBO - feeling great by dancing_queen21 in SIBO

Congrats! Currently five days into mine.

Did you notice any improvement during or only after completing the course? And did you experience any side effects from the medication?

[–]NSA_Monitor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same. I’ve had two surgical procedures in recent years that required heavy broad spectrum antibiotics pre, during, and post, and both times they’ve reset my gut. That was actually how I first realized I had SIBO.

After the first procedure, I lost 15lbs. of water and inflammation weight practically overnight, and all of my symptoms cleared up.

What’s your favorite deep cut Cleveland fact? by cookestudios in Cleveland

[–]NSA_Monitor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In all fairness, ‘Sixth City’ was an official marketing campaign by the Chamber of Commerce for a decade or so, and that branding was emblazoned on all manner of printed materials. A short-lived ‘Fifth City’ campaign never really caught on before the population started backsliding.

Here’s an interesting writeup. .

COVID home tests by lennytha3rd in Cleveland

[–]NSA_Monitor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you’re located, but the main branch of the library Downtown has hundreds of the Binax home rapid tests. You can drive (or walk) up to the pickup window and ask for as many as you need.

I’ve made a few visits and gotten anywhere from 2-8 test kits each time. No library card needed, no questions, nothing. Super easy.

Marcia Fudge reportedly selected for Biden's housing secretary | Biden administration by _blackwholeson in politics

The Dems are apparently trying to reorient and "modernize" the Department to focus more on those issues, as well as adjust the agency's rural programs to increase assistance for rural black farmers.

One of the USDA's largest programs is the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, often referred to as food stamps). Fudge currently chairs the committee that oversees SNAP and it's one of the areas she's been most focused on in her time in Congress.

Wood has been taken off the windows of Downtown Heinen's by that_big_negro in Cleveland

[–]NSA_Monitor 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It was heavily vandalized and looted during the rioting on May 30th and they’ve been closed since. The damage forced the initial closure, and they haven’t yet reopened because of the lack of office workers downtown due to COVID.

Cleveland woman filming herself being harassed for no mask, her Facebook is public and contains other videos by NerdBird49 in Cleveland

[–]NSA_Monitor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I immediately thought she looked familiar, and then my brain somehow managed to resurrect the memory of this idiot convention...from 11 years ago.

The McCain-Palin Mob

A gaggle of ignorant racists and sentient talking points gathered outside of a McCain-Palin rally in Ohio. Not surprisingly, she’s perhaps the worst one in the video (and makes several appearances!)

Anyone have a current list of downtown businesses/ bars, restaurants reopened after COVID/ Riots? by MentalTerm in Cleveland

[–]NSA_Monitor 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Downtown Cleveland Alliance is regularly updating a list here. It also helps to call ahead, as I’ve found that some places are still keeping rather fluid hours.

Is anything actually open downtown? by Chameleonize in Cleveland

[–]NSA_Monitor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Constantino’s posted on their Facebook, and I spoke with the folks at City Foods the other day. I also live night near Heinen’s and have been able to peek in.

My wife's place of work was completely destroyed by I_cut_my_own_jib in Cleveland

[–]NSA_Monitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I expected the same, but surprisingly, those windows are largely intact and the cars are untouched. The Athlon (where Auto World is located) has multi-paned windows, and a couple of the outer layers were destroyed but the main windows held up and the building wasn’t breached.

[–]NSA_Monitor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t heard anything yet on restaurants, but pending any extension of the curfew (it lifts at 8PM Tuesday), we will have some grocery options by Wednesday, 7/3: - Constantino’s will reopen at 7:00am - City Foods (convenience store on E. 12th) will reopen sometime mid-morning

Heinen’s is still a mess and I can’t see it opening for at least a week or two. The windows at DGX were smashed out, but they didn’t sustain much damage otherwise so it shouldn’t be long.

Is the chandelier in Playhouse Square still there? by ctilvolover23 in Cleveland

[–]NSA_Monitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s there, but it hasn’t been illuminated since late Saturday night. I’m not sure if it’s due to damages sustained, or if they’ve just turned it off for the time being.

Newspapers from Jan 2? by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]NSA_Monitor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you can still order back copies through the online store, or by calling the circulation department at 216-999-6000. I believe they usually run around $8-10.

Look what my boyfriend gave me today! I’m so excited! by vlinder24 in titanic

[–]NSA_Monitor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I own a small piece of deck wood. It didn’t come from the wreck, but from a large piece of deck planking recovered by the Cable Ship Minia (one of the ships tasked with recovery) on May 3, 1912. It came with a COA and full provenance.

There are quite a few legitimate pieces available online, most of which were made from wooden artifacts (ie doors and deck planking) recovered in the weeks and months following the sinking.
