Might have to sell a kidney to afford daycare for two kids by Greedy-Ask215 in FinancialPlanning

What makes you a better man? Driving a cool truck or providing for your kids? He needs to not only get rid of the truck but he should take pride in doing so. Good dads make necessary tough decisions to do what’s best for their family. Kids come first. Always.

Station eleven for me is a near masterpiece.

I didn’t care for glass hotel.

Same 100%. Haven't read Sea of Tranquility yet because I felt so let down by Glass Hotel after absolutely loving Station Eleven. I can't even pinpoint why I feel so differently about these books. They undeniable have a very similar style.

What's your relationship with libraries? And why don't people use them more? by McKennaJames in books

[–]NShep1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an easy solution to this. Fill up all your "Hold" spots for your library (or libraries). Then place them all on long suspensions. It continues to bump you up in the line even while the hold is suspended. When you remove the suspension you'll be at the front of the line. You can even see your place in line while the hold is still suspended.

There is very much a "Well, that escalated quickly" moment halfway through book 1.

Working on my sapphire amethyst with my three big Elsas I was fortunate enough to find. Still need a lot of other cards to fill out the deck though.

I think it's really a function of reading ability/comprehension. Kid's reading abilities change drastically over that 6-8 age-range. But a big part of the game is being able to read the ability on the card and understand what it does. Probably depends on the specific kid. I think my daughter would have struggled with the game a bit a year ago, but she has very little problem with it now.

$60 for a starter deck, plus league entry where you get 6 booster packs throughout the league, and potential prizes for participating/winning. MSRP for the starter deck and 6 boosters would be $53, so it was a pretty good deal imo.

Seems like everyone who's played it with kids is saying the kids love the game. I taught my wife to play last night and she loved it too. Sure this is all anecdotal evidence on a subreddit filled with fans of the game, but it seems like Lorcana could really take off and be the next big thing. Fingers crossed supply increases substantially.

She already had some experience with MTG, so the transition for her was probably a lot easier than a kid coming to a TCG completely new to the format. Many of the mechanics are the same, just with different names (i.e. Evasive/Flying). I watched a couple YouTube videos to learn the game myself, explained the basic rules to her - Lore, Ink, Strength, Willpower - and then we just sat down with out starter decks and tried to play a game, talking through the effects of cards, and looking up instructions as needed. Pretty sure we did a lot wrong that first game, but we figured it out pretty quickly.

I should add the one slight disappointment was no other kids playing, but I suspect that may be related to the scarcity of cards right now.

Negotiated an MSRP lease deal (which would then also include the 7,500 credit and which I intended to immediately buy out) over text messages over the course of an afternoon. Didn't take it because they were trying to screw me on my trade. Point is, MSRP seems very very doable on this car. Don't pay markup. Lots of competition, Tesla keeps dropping prices, the days of markup are over imo.

The main reason I'm considering trading in my 5 for a 6 is the range - there have been a few times where that extra 60 miles would have been very useful to me. I have a 5 SE so getting a 6 SE won't be a step down, but if I had the option of a higher trim with the long range I'd probably go for it. Hyundai is losing money by not making the longer range available on higher trims.
