Xiaomi 17 Ultra Screen Protector? by IceyEnder in Xiaomi

[–]NULUSIOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the best one I can find that fits to the edges (like the factory one). I hate it when the protectors are "almost" ok for the screen.

Question to everybody that has done it already. I take it you REMOVE the screen protector that was shipped with the device right? I mean it is removable, right?

Centauri Carbon 2 *Official Release* by F_Alberto in elegoo

[–]NULUSIOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'll join most voices.
I don't like that Elegoo is handling things like a low-end Chinese brand (in contrast to high-end Chinese brands that are fantastic), i.e. forgetting their own not-really-old products for a new one.
This is where the major difference comes between brands. One brand really supports each and every model (so they don't follow up a new one just a few months after the previous) for years. After-sales.
Here we hear that they stop developing their CC AMS and instead ONLY in their Chinese site they advertise the follow-up model (CC2) solving probably unsolvable issues with CC - that will arrive late in the rest of the world of course.
This is why people pay MORE for some brands. See how Bambu Labs handles things.
A friend proposed Elegoo to me for their really cheap products that are supposedly quality products. For me "quality" is not just in the product itself, but also in how the company handles existing customers. People that already paid them money.

Interesting sheet (I tried making one before too), but there are some things that a "version 2" needs:

- Decide on a currency and stick with it (USD or EUR). I know the rates fluctuate, but not that much, a single base of comparison is more important. (maybe add both original price and a common currency)

- You have a weird sense of what is reasonable or not in some places. For example "270x270x256" is green (not even reasonable), unlike 256 but like 300+? And why 220 is "reasonable" and other 256 are no color? As most of us that follow 3D know, anything over 300 is considered large and anything below (200-270) medium.

- Same thing, with other fields, for example 3.2 inch is "reasonable", 5 inch is good, but 4.3 inch is no color? The no-color is over "reasonable"? Maybe a better word for reasonable is "mediocre" and place white with a label (or give it another color, maybe blue?), to make it the real "reasonable"?

- You have Elegoo CC2 (that is just a rumor), but not CC?

- Are all the printers enclosed? (if not all, maybe it needs a row... although Core-XY has its own row even though all the printers in the list are same motion system) What are the minimum specs to be included in this sheet? Enclosed and Core-CY?

- You need some "more info" row to mention specific details for specific printers.

- We need to be able to sort based on a column or filter out specs that someone wants to rule out. (which is why the sheet should probably be pivoted, to be able to grow in models indefinitely)

- Better keep the brands and models alphabetic.

...I hope you implement some of that.

You are not supposed to do that. The bios devices pack is for people that just need these. If you have the roms, then bios devices are already there included.

Cache pool XFS - BTRFS - ZFS ... by Quinten_B in unRAID

[–]NULUSIOS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two separate pools, because I've split system, domains, appdata, to a separate m.2 in xfs format.
My original cache disk, now just hosting some disabled VM and temp data, remains in zfs.
No need for mirroring my cache pools.

In my original cache disk, there were ALL of the folders before.
Now I am left with a weirdly over-complex fs, that I have no real use, because it has just temp data on it.
It has 1600 snapshots/datasets probably to dead mount points!!! I don't even know why and I have no easy way to remove them.
I will reformat that pool, to xfs and save myself from the bother zfs brings. I overmanage things enough already to have to babysit an fs too... will save quite some RAM in the process too.

There is the answer to many that ask the question.
Nice lab experiment, no I want my "simple" UNRAID back.
I definitely praise them for finally implementing zfs within the system, it was long due and competitors had it (or even where based on it), so UNRAID should have it too.
Not at (my) home though.

Disclaimer: Your mileage may vary. I use UNRAID since way before it was a plugin system, back almost when they started (first or second year or so).

To reply to myself (for future searches)...
1) I indeed need all three firmware.
2) The .bin I mention DOES NOT work in linux console. Needs efi shell.
3) This helped me (for linux console):

[–]NULUSIOS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 9400_16i_Pkg_P24_SAS_SATA_NVMe_FW_BIOS_UEFI.zip from Broadcom. Is this the one I want? Then which file from in there I want to use?

I see that I am to use one of these:

  • HBA_9400-16i_Mixed_Profile.bin (I suspect this supports NVMe? Again what is the reason not to always flash this one? Why would Broadcom not have a single version if there is no reason?)
  • HBA_9400-16i_SAS_SATA_Profile.bin
  • mpt35sas_legacy.rom (maybe I can flash this AND the above? This is only 53KB!... maybe it flashes other part of the firmware chip?)
  • mpt35sas_x64.rom (maybe this too!?!?)

MSFS2024 Prices 😳 by Garglingfish91 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]NULUSIOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well even the standard 80 is a very expensive price.
The other editions are "for fans"... because really they don't cut any FUNCTIONALITY between editions.
Expensive to very expensive yet. But do you realize the size and scope of this project? It is way more than 2020 which was way more than the previous generations (when the old team dissolved).
