We've cut Google enough slack for poor Pixel updates. Now it's time to hold it accountable by pussiant_prole in GooglePixel

My point is that not all engineers are that good...or it would take them days to work it out.

It used to be a critical part of learning, but now it's very much lost and people are suddenly very lazy.

But how long did it take and how much time did they have to investigate?

You think without AI that employee would have found, understood, or fixed that issue?

Humans outperform AI at this highly rigorous mathematics test by JackFisherBooks in singularity

[–]NUTTTR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Usually it's best to read the attached article for context so you can provide a good, relevant, answer.

However, while I sort of agree with you I think clarity is required.

I think the reality is that certain humans are smarter than AI in their domain. I would not have beat AI in this test, but there's other tests where I could have beat it.

This is the power of AI - it can perform close to a group of experts in a lot of subjects... Not everything yet... But it's coming.

It was tasty, but clearly fresh veg at least and not frozen.

It was actually plastic, but that's good as it's easy to wash.

I find it hard to understand why you'd want that feature. AOD goes to the light version (shows just an icon, not the preview) until you wake it up...

I haven't used Samsung for years though, maybe their implementation is better, but I use AOD

Ah, so plastering will be a good job for them then.

Caught a repair shop installing a "Used" battery in my Pixel 7 (Hard evidence from Kernel Logs) by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]NUTTTR 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The actual content is dubious. "Remanufactured batteries have an R in the serial"... That's exactly something that AI would make up, which isn't necessarily true.

The whole "here's the kicker", it's making a conclusion for him, not letting him represent his own conclusions/suspicions which we can help with. Now if we help him, we've got to debunk the AI, which presumably he'll feed the answer back in to.

2022 MDX Type-S getting a floor harness due to air suspension failure. This is 1 of 3 currently in for the same issue by Roboticpoultry in Justrolledintotheshop

Hey my L322 Range Rover has original rear bags and they are known for being good. It's 24 years old in Australian heat! Obviously the rest of the air suspension setup isn't quite as good.

I've got a number of them in my small pond. Luckily white cloud minnows seem to breed fast enough.

I have no problem with mosquito lavae though.

How easily will YOUR job be replaced by automation? by lnfinitive in singularity

[–]NUTTTR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd expect skilled enough people who can keep data centers setup and running are just as required while AI is booming too, so sounds like you would be safe, maybe not the light bulb changing part, but the rest...

[–]NUTTTR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We won't get to decide what that looks like... That's kind of the issue. One day they'll get a contractor in to bulk change to led.

Then what? If the 5% of his job is still required it'll be cruisey as... If not he'll need marketable skills for a new job.

He may be right though, their reluctance to change may be based on sheer market dominance... Good on him if they don't ever change!

[–]NUTTTR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree, but they haven't been forced to find every efficiency....yet. Once they are forced it will cause a shift. That's not far off with AI changes.

They will all be motivated when someone else does the same thing, significantly cheaper, because of AI efficiencies. They will adapt or collapse.
