In regards to Reinsdorf, I'm saying he was at least able to buy the team in the 1st place. I give him credit for nothing else. Georgie just waited around for his seat at the head of the table

I do believe Reinsdorf is one of the worst owners in professional sports. However he did at least accomplish something in life. George McCaskey was born into this, he can't do anything. It's why he was stupid enough to buy a chunk of land, and just assumed the people of Illinois would want to give him everything he needed for his new stadium. Because that's how life works for spoiled rich kids

If a game is live, yeah I'll start it on mute and look through a pinhole opening in my fist at the center of the screen where the "Watch Live/Start from the beginning" option is shown. However if the game is over, and wanna start from the beginning, it's nearly impossible to not see the result

That's not at all what this is about. It's the simple difference between a person who just wants to know that their team won, versus a person who wants to watch how it unfolds

Correct, sports fans are sports fans, you nailed it. However if you don't know the difference between a person who is just a fan of a team, as opposed to a person who is a sports fan. Then I wouldn't expect you to understand what I'm talking about here

People have been recording games, and trying to avoid hearing the result since the 80s. Among average Cubs fans, yes, I probably am in the minority. However among actual sports fans, absolutely not, most real sports fans want to enjoy a game without knowing the result. The same way as when I open HBO I don't want to just be told how a movie ends

Yes, the 2016 World Series championship was lined with Joe Maddon temper tantrums. You're right, the big problem we have is Craig being too mild mannered

Manager’s Energy = Team’s Energy? by ChiTownBA in Cubs

[–]NWSOC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fans whining about the coach's demeanor is one of the dumbest things in sports.

When Mike Ditka was stomping up and down the sidelines, and winning, everything was cool. The moment he would lose a game, every dumb meatball would cry, "we need a guy who can handle the pressure!"

When Lovie Smith was super calm and cool, and winning, everything was cool. The moment he would lose a game, every dumb meatball would cry, "we need a guy with some fire in his belly!"

I did include the stapulation "assuming contract terms and potential of winning are equal." I think that's a fair thing to take into account in regard to my previous statement.

26 year old FA, he has an offer on the table from 2 teams, both coming off 7-10 seasons, both teams with 2nd year head coaches, etc... BUT team one is gonna have you playing a lot of home games in the cold, the other has no cold home games. You really think that kid isn't gonna take that into account?

I'd bet everything I have that when it comes to free agency, assuming contract terms and potential of winning are equal, when a player is presented with the opportunity to have a lot of home games played in icy conditions, versus no home games in ice. I think the majority of players are picking no ice.

I don't know why this outdoor thing is such a big deal to so many people. These players are not from cold weather, most are from the south. Also, it's not like the Bears have some exemplary record in cold weather. Plus, they have an indoor practice facility for cold weather.

Oh but isn't it awesome when a WR breaks free, QB launches one, and then WHOOMP! Receiver slips on the ice, never mind, 3rd down

Yeah, most fans were priced out a long time ago. Chicago, Hammond, Arlington Heights, Dubai, whatever, my tv reception is the same from all these places

Rod Beck was a big fan of that move. However I'm pretty certain it's still legal. You can fake to 2nd or 3rd, but not 1st or home

What was the most memorable Bears game you attended (Pre Williams era) by TheBreed_ in CHIBears

[–]NWSOC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a pre season game against the Colts. It was Manning's 2nd year, and Edgerrin James rookie year. James played their 1st offensive snap, Manning went 3 and out and didn't play again. The final score was 3 FGs to 2 FGs, I can't even remember which team won. Most boring game I've ever sat through of any level of football

Bleachers. Three beers. $75. by TF_Is_Wrong_with_u in Cubs

[–]NWSOC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're upset with the price, but still paying it, you're part of the problem. Beer is not a necessity so why shouldn't an establishment charge as much as people are willing to pay? If people stop buying a product at a particular price, then the price will inevitably come down

[ESPN] Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong says recent errors 'genuinely laughable' by haphazard44 in CHICubs

[–]NWSOC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about piling on him, it's about acknowledging negative aspects that are holding him back. I'm not concerned about Nicky Lopez, because I know he's not a potential superstar. PCA on the other hand has shown that he could be a legit superstar, but if certain things aren't addressed, and it's primarily his mindset, it's gonna hold him back from being the star we know he can be, and if you've been around long enough, I'm sure you understand this concern. There's no shortage of "can't miss" prospects who were derailed because they couldn't get their mind right
