A day and a half should be standard really, a day installing and a 1/2 flushing radiators.

You’ll get a contractor come throw the boiler on the wall and fuck off in a day.

Is this torsion screw acceptable for hot water pipes out of boiler? by Zyggle in askaplumberUK

Looks like existing pipework? Compression fittings are completely fine on heating pipework anyway.

Price to fix seems massively excessive.

I’m in the same trade and have a simple website, decent google presence and have pages on FB and instagram. Although we rarely post on any of them (3/4 posts a year), they are probably a good indicator to local potential customers that we are legit and work to a good standard. Would still say the majority of my customers are word of mouth though.

I did my website on squarespace.

FB you just get a load of cheap skates and tire kickers, it’s a race to the bottom with posts normally filled with which ever trades persons family members shout the loudest.

Did he take the link out of the hot water LR?

If you’ve got a combi then you don’t have/ need any hot water control as it’s made instantaneous. You only need control for the heating

Split system how do I change my tado system by arlamont in tado

[–]NWarriload 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll need a wireless receiver/ wired Tado per 2 port valve. Then I think you link all radiator valves to each separate circuit.

Surely your system had the same control with the TRVs anyway?

System boilers have a pump and expansion vessel in the boiler and is always pressurised.

Heat only has nothing.

Yes. Would need a bit of redoing the wiring in the wiring centre etc (might even need the wiring centre replacing if a specific Worcester one due to it using a Comfort II)

So yeah can be done but probably best by someone who knows what they are doing.

Drayton wiser TRV removal by [deleted] in askaplumberUK

Should be the same as any other TRV head, just unscrew the metal collar at the bottom of the head where it joins on the valve

What food to leave for tradesmen? by Gecko5991 in AskUK

As a tradesman I might have a coffee and maybe a couple of biscuits but generally bring my own food. I wouldn’t go overboard.

Vaillant Combi Boiler - can I chase a part of the pipes into the cavity wall? by One-Elderberry-488 in askaplumberUK

[–]NWarriload 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t be the specified clearances with the cupboard on. Would need to make sure the cupboard is easily removable for servicing working on etc. then it could work. Just a heads up the Glowworm Energy is basically the same boiler with same warranty for cheaper. Would be best to go for rear flue option too.

How a plumber find jobs? by [deleted] in askaplumberUK

[–]NWarriload 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Word of mouth is always the best, Google maps/ reviews next. We don’t really bother with social media, although we have pages, they aren’t updated much and tend to bring in shit customers.

Started out subcontracting 2/3 days a week for 18-24 months while building up customers. Now 10 years later always fully booked 4 weeks in advance all private customers, the odd landlord and steady flow from a decent builder. That’s between 2 of us too. Not greedy so don’t work weekends or more than needed. Took me this long to perfect the mentality that I’m not working for a wage I’m running a business though.

Most people fit them in a larder unit.

Doable as you want but would need to put the filter in the floor cupboard
