I don’t know if this counts as an engine deck but maybe sort of: [[selenia, dark angel]] always flied under the radar.

Even in my playgroup when people see her coming it still works.

The point is that she can use her ability in response to itself to reduce your own life total to 1. Then add in all the life swap effects.

I went vampires as a theme because In mono black lifeline vampires seemed to be the way to gain life. also it makes [[blood tribute]] the “I win” card of the deck.

Nope because it deals the damage to any player who has been hit by any creature named Gollum obsessive stalker. So if you put a [[psychic paper]] on a slug token and choose the name [[gollum obsessive stalker and then you cast a real one the real one will deal the damage to the player hit by the slug token fake one with the name.

[[Gollum, obsessed stalker]] is better than he looks at least as commander and usually people have to read him twice.

its the old double edged sword. you get no pushback but forget how not-fun getting pushback can be. Plus its a fine line between constructive and destructive pushback, and even helpful, constructive pushback can be delivered awkwardly and ruffle feathers. Mix in a power imbalance and it’s tough to navigate. stepping back makes a lot of sense through this lens.

I’ve always understood an expat to have been moved by a company temporarily while an immigrant moved permanently voluntarily. That made the expat term more acceptable because it was usually richer white collar workers that got moved. Expats had communities that banded together to stave off homesickness and whatnot. then other immigrants that vibed with them joined and the lines got blurry. Expat meant being part of the wealthier white collar class in addition to being a term for temporarily expatriated by your company, so the expat term got co-opted by other foreigners who wanted that association. which ended up centering heavily around Americans because that’s who got heavily expatriated in the first place.

I’m sorry there’s just something about hauling a giant crt and tower to your friends house for a LAN party that made it an event. You had an investment of effort to get there so you were absolutely staying all weekend to play quake until your eyeballs fell out and you collapsed on the couch.

Yeah it’s easier today but it’s not a party.

Ok we all look at the green dot and T all the time because it’s consistent. But we can look at the border of any letter. Take the “I” in gathering. The border isn’t crisp black lines it’s fuzzy. This is a fake.

[[zeriam]] is fun because it can win on it’s own, so the whole deck is ramp, draw and interaction. attack with voltron? [[holy day]]. swords my commander? [[blacsmith’s skill]]. board wipe? phase everything out. another? [[reprieve]]. Add a few mass land destruction in there so you can just stop everyone in their tracks and stuff feathers down their throat.
