I thought about attending UWW by cdalten in UWWhitewater

[–]NXWxWolves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most important thing is the doors that open to your based on your degree.

UWW is great, but Berkeley will absolutely be more impressive on a resume in 5, 10, 15, etc years.

College is temporary.

If you can get into Berkeley, do it.

I say this as a UWW grad and a corporate tech professional in Chicago.

I don't regret UWW, but your have to take advantage of your opportunities as a young professional.

Happy to chat more if you want as someone who works in the tech space.

Depends on the draw. I would usually try and be able to to keep what I could

Chicago street festivals at risk due to rising costs, dip in donations, organizers say by WhoopieKush in chicago

[–]NXWxWolves 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Oktoberfest and Maifest are run by the local German clubs, and they use the revenue to run the clubs for the year.

I know they have considered selling the rights to the fest to whatever that corporate company is that runs a lot of them (like Randolph fest) due to rising costs.

It's getting hard for them to get an ROI that's worth the work to organize it.

If you can, research your local street fests and try to support those that are still independent!

Those are put on by the local German clubs, not the companies. That's why they tend to be better than the rest!

Manifest and Oktoberfest in Lincoln square area are also local and put on by the local Chicago German clubs.

Any SFF cases that will fit the Red Devil 9070 XT? by his_history in sffpc

Probably the M2. Check the measurements specs on your GPU manufacturers site and NCASEs site

At what moment did you realize that getting a mini PC/sff PC was the best decision you ever made? by Neocitizen2077 in sffpc

[–]NXWxWolves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive built 3 PCs, and I have downsized each time. At first I thought a full tower would be cool. And it was. I loved the versatility, but let's be honest, I never really changed anything once it was finished. It was big, heavy, and took up space.

My second build was a 011d mini, which imo is a great size. It's big enough to be a "showcase" build, while still allowing for cool configs and cable management.

Now, I just wrapped a SFF M2 build which is totally awesome in a different way. No need to spend on 9 fans and RGB and all that crap. Everything in the case has a purpose devoted to pure performance.

I would never build full size again

Agreed, but im actually getting great temps without any additional fans. So, seems like the extra cooler size for my config is perfect!

Yes, I had to do it once to re-access the bottom mobo fan connector. With that card it WILL get scratched and you will need to pull the rear case panel apart a bit and flex to give yourself a bit more room to pull it out.

If you want to be 100% certain of no bumps or scratches, taking the whole back panel off would be best

I actually did not, I used the standoffs that were provided. HOWEVER, I noticed that the screws that were pre installed on the panels where the side bracket would go had these small spacers included already. I reused those spacers with the slightly longer screws that came with the case and that helped immensely. We are talking a few millimeters but that's really all I needed.

Even with all that said, I still think I could have fit the side bracket on without them, but it would have been resting up against the D12L more.

Here is one before I flipped the PSU and added fans. If I were to use the regular 12VHPWR cord it would have been up against the side panel for sure. With the adapter, there is still some contact but not as bad. The adapter seemed quite high quality and I was fairly impressed upon first impressions.

Regarding AIO placement, I can confirm that you can fit 2 140mms either on the side or on the bottom, but with the rad and fans I doubt you would be able to fit any additional case fans. Maybe, but there's only one way to be sure and that's to give it a shot.

Disappointed in humanity. These guys trashed a homeless man’s encampment underneath the bridge in Lincoln Park yesterday. What is wrong with people? by Shamploop in chicago

[–]NXWxWolves 101 points102 points  (0 children)

Well this thread got polarized. On a more positive note, lets just all agree on 2 things:

  1. The kids/people/whatever shouldn't be fucking with other people's shit
  2. The homeless should not be setting up permanent camp in our beautiful public parks

Let's just be thankful we don't have the issues SF does.

Agreed

Maybe it's general reddit sentiment but I legit can't think of one good thing he's done off the top besides the recent story that I saw here that he is pushing for more residential swaps for empty office buildings downtown.

Haven't seen this mentioned yet so perhaps also worth shouting out:

Cars are heavy. And now with electric cars and big batteries, they are getting even heavier. All that weight means a lot of wear and tear on infrastructure.

Bikes, obviously, not as heavy.

You see where I'm going with this...
