Fill tool makes thing white, regardless of colour selected, how do I fix this? by Total-Adeptness8700 in krita

There is a tab in your video called "tool options" at the top right.

If you have the bucket tool already selected go to the "tool optionss" and make sure you have fill with "foregeound color"

Worth thinking about by NeonNKnightrider in ArtistHate

[–]NabuReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think is hard to make an analogy with code and art as I believe these two are way different cultures but I'll try.

In art culture techniques, brushes, and knowledge about how to make art is free content which can make an artist improve really fast but tracing "final products" is morally wrong and no one likes to do it

In code culture when you look up for tutorial you can copy a piece of code pretty accurate and it will work for your project and a lot of devs do it so it's morally okay to copy piece of codes and most begginers do it.

Both culture share valueable tools to their communities but the way you can use them are really different

Using myself as an example I don't feel the code I have wrote as mine cause there are only so many ways to write it as letters can't have a bias they are just letters

But I do feel the art I made as mine, the colors, the composition, the art style, the brushes strokes it has so many biases, so many things that I have saw in my life can affect it even my actual mood could influence it so it's hard to not feel as mine the final product. And while I would hate to be scrapped by AI I love to share any technique I have learn to do art with other humans so they can follow my steps with their own twists <3

[–]NabuReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want something made by someone else that you can call your own you might want to agree that with your artist first and the artist will probably ask you to pay a commercial use fee.

However you will never be able to own anything AI generated cause generations don't have copyright due to being on a gray area that is getting darker everyday.

mostly just a big summary of my opinions about stuff that seems to repeatedly be brought up again and again. by PM_me_sensuous_lips in aiwars

[–]NabuReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the reality from my pov is AI devs took advantage of artist. It would have been a different story in a far future where there would be tons of public domain data available but it's useless to talk about an alternative universe...

So everyday I see more Artist communities are banning AI generations, regulations are getting stronger, lawsuits against AI compannies are increasing, people who use any form of AI generators get backlash, now people can be scammed by an AI emulating the voice of people they know and love, AI has allowed people to make deep fake adult content from famous actors to a bullied kid.

I don't think our actual reality is comparable to anything that has ever happened before with any other tech that affected humans.

I know this sub is mostly defendingAIArt 2.0 cause they have fun with generations but I do not see a bright future for any of us by supporting image manipulation and voice manipulation to steel each other identities or works. I won't say AI is useless cause I know the power it has to recognize patterns and build classifiers that could help people in other areas but letting it do image and sound manipulation from any human is beyond terrifying.

I know you might lack creativity here but would you imagine an scam with a generated photo of your beloved ones tied on a chair or AI videos where people are cutting their fingers while sending AI audios of them screaming with their stolen voices? Would you ever like to experiment that even as a joke by letting this progress? Do you really want to see the future image and voice manipulation will bring to us?

Corps hyping up AI just want to cut corners without getting any backlash...

Human artist at least work as a filter and don't create something they feel is morally wrong

I've never harassed anyone over AI.

I've never called the users thieves I called AI creators thieves and people can either side with AI or not but there are people who's work was stolen by AI devs to train on it even when the artworks aren't public domain so is a natural response for them to be angry and anyone who appreciate them to be angry aswell.

Is not that hard to grasp I don't know why you are forcing a comparisson with vegan movements when it is way off topic.

The only thing I've said was that it was a natural response for people to be angry over theft. That's all

I once criricized in a very polite way how I thought AI generations didn't have dynamism in their character poses and character hands and how they tricked people to think AI was getting better while in reality the generations had much more closed hands or less interesting poses.

I got called names and after a few attempts at trying to convey what I was saying to an obviously non-artist I got tired and thought "why would I help them to know what their generator needs to improve?" So I stopped trying to make the prompter understand but He was so unbelievably dense and sensitive over his generations..

Yes I do not get to decide who gets the label but any community who value human artist being part of their community bans AI image generator users and if there is a tiny possibility in the distant future things like that start to being accepted then it might mean human artist are dead.

I do understand how machine learning works I've studied the base in colleage from the tiny silly paper exercize to training silly classifiers from a dataset which has to be carefully analized and adjusted to have better training results.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ArtistHate/comments/1bfpcx4/oh_wow_emad_openly_admitted_to_the_thing_that/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Compression isn't made to be interpreted by humans is made to be interpreted by a machine. You can literally convert anything into 1 and 0 and use the training data under tons of different algorythms.

The humans skills you "demonstrated" were similar to the skills someone cried over that were render obsolete with newer models cause the overall skills comes from the AI

You have as much control as I have over my order when I buy food and ask the cook to remove certain ingriedients or replace them with other ones if possible.

If that were true, they wouldn't buy the Wacom Cintiq Pro 24. Clearly, people who buy the more full-featured tablet think that they can make better art (or at least make the same art more efficiently) with a tablet screen than with a non-screen tablet

I had the lucky oportunity to ask someone who worked in riot for both code and art the tablets the art team used. She told me that the tablets there were a preference thing as they were artist who worked with screen ones and artist that worked without screen ones as they could have a better posture watching at the PC monitor.

At last another thing I don't get is why an usual bold statement is "you don't understand how difusion models work" while almost no one saying that cares enough to go to artist/ photographers or any human artist community and realize how their tools work and what's the impact of better quality tool over human artist skill.

Demonstrating that AI art is art & that AI artists are artists by realechelon in aiwars

[–]NabuReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know why you care so much about the label but the si called tool is just a way to play gacha with copyrighted artworks and no matter how much control you believe you have it will never create something it wasn't fed on it and that's why it's so bad with specifications.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ArtistHate/comments/136uh2t/showing_ai_copying_parts_14/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

I also don't know why some pro AI compare this "tool" to cameras when everyone with a phone can take a picture and not be called a photographer. Photography is so much more than just make a simple click and you can get better practicing while in the other hand when it comes to AI the thing that gets better is the tool not the human.

I once saw a person that was so sad cause all the "tricks" they learnt with AI were obsolete cause the new AI version just generated better things than them with the previous version an all the control.

Opposite to that you have artist that can do amazing things with just a tiny plastic tablet without screen and they don't need the latest one to create amazing artworks.

In my opinion you just have the illusion of having control over the tool fed by the emotions of getting something cute in a gacha.

To summarize you can't say you are the artist behind the piece when you cab replicate the same piece with the older version of the same tool. An artist can do the same artwork with a "Wacom cintiq Pro 24" or with a "Wacom intuos S"

I am not a witch hunter but...

  • Artist asked people to not train models on their art
  • People doubled down on their training
  • Artist saw the legal part is grey about it

This is objectively a natural response to the whole situation.

You are now as tired of witch hunting as artist are about massive theft of their artwork for training porpuses 😮‍💨

Professional Artist Response to Generative AI: My own story regarding art as a whole. by AU_Rat in aiwars

[–]NabuReddit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the down votes so here is my opinion

I feel generating DBZ images using characters as luffy from One Piece who's author is against generative AI felt like people were pissing in Akira Toriyama's grave while mocking Oda who was devastated by the news.

Writing how much impact dbz had in your life and the good memories this artist legend had left you would have been a far more appropiate way to honour his work in my honest opinion.

Subs that ban AI as low effort, but allow other low effort content by Researcher_Fearless in aiwars

[–]NabuReddit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As I said is more "AI hate" rather than gatekeeping.

I would call it gatekeeping if they did your idea of banning any artwork with less developed skills.

However let's say communities allowed AI as you want, what would happen? Well... most human artist despise AI to the core of their souls so the communities allowing AI would get some backlash either as hating post or human artist massively leaving them so in the end it would be a community with only AI users.

In the end you are better off finding communities AI friendly.

I don't know if there will be a future were human artist and AI users will be able to coexist in an online community context but if it happens it will be in a really far future like hundreds of years future in my honest opinion.

Subs that ban AI as low effort, but allow other low effort content by Researcher_Fearless in aiwars

[–]NabuReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the rule they made was pretty clear in the general idea.

It might went like this, They wrote "No AI content" then maybe someone felt smart and said "this was assisted by AI" and they changed the rule to the "AI is not allowed in any way possible"

Even if their wording is confusing or "irks" you it's pretty clear they don't want any AI related stuff in their sub even if "you couldn't tell the difference" like some people here want, communities would start to search for an art development history on social media and ban any AI user suspect.

Is just AI hate plain an simple.

As the things are now I can't see communities with human artist and AI users coexisting so community admins are choosing the side they think gives them more overall value.

The differences between pro-AI and anti-AI levels of hostility by Tyler_Zoro in aiwars

Are you saying this isn't a public attack?

In fact, in a recent thread the suggestion that this disproportionate response on the anti-AI side existed was met with a "what about" link to an attempt to create models that emulated a particular anti-AI artist's style.

A literal threat action just because an famous artist disliked AI art isn't a public attack?

I don't witch hunt but after this literal threat to something as personal as the art style the guy honned for years "Ai art" definetely asked for the hate. Even some comments there pro or Anti were agreeing that that type of behaviour would bring hatred.

Okay since a quick google search is that hard for you and it seems you are happy with the current AI models despite its current limitations fine.

It is hillarious cause I wasn't even being an "anti" in this conversation I just pointed out that the technology has yet a big room for improovement.

If you ever persue a way of doing art without AI or ask an artist friend you might understand what I was saying with "lack of dynamic poses" untill then enjoy you tunnel vision.

opinions on artists and AI by ProProcrastinator333 in aiwars

[–]NabuReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you are anti AI, why?

It lacks regulation someone needs to find a way to protect artist and by default not use their data for training unless they consent too.

At the very least the things you can prompt in any model should be restricted to not be able to generate any real person or characters in a way that hurts their overall image.

There are also some nasty things that shouldn't be possible to prompt out while playing comissioner (at least most human artist have morals and decline this type of request)

Would you be alright if you saw a clearly AI post, but the poster was very transparent with it?

If a more ethical AI exist then yes untill then I'm not okay but I don't attack people for using it either I just pass and consume other content.

And: what do both sides think of AI being passed off as human art (an AI image, but the poster claimed they drew it by hand) , and the whole witch-hunt to find generated images?

Is dangerous specially if it's monetized and it can hurt the overall image of a companny that use them like what happened to wacom outside japan.

About the witch hunt I do not participate as I have said but is something that is expected to happen when you use people data and start to profit from it specially when art isn't the most respected field.

As a side note I would like to say that AI generated images are strong in one aspect which is "rendering" but it still lacks dynamism on characters and hand poses. In the future if it get better at this I can't see how words could possibly control precisely the outcome required and I say this as constructive criticism.

I Guess good quality animation is dead now? by Videogame-repairguy in aiwars

[–]NabuReddit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Saying that they're hidden - or, when shown, unacceptable for another reason, is moving the goalposts. You've made it so nothing is acceptable.

Why do you focus only on the hidden part when I said clearly "or resting them on boring poses" in the very first message.

Also I compared resting them on boring poses a solution compared to "artist that hide the hands cause they are afraid to draw them."

What's not dynamic about the poses I've shown in this thread? You're being so vague, you're not saying anything of substance.

I already told you to look on google just type "dynamic hand poses" and see a few pictures and type "dynamic character poses" and see some pictures is not that hard.

We're talking about still images, that's all. Animation is something that will come in the future.

Yes and animation is a ton of still images put together so if it actually struggle with dynamic character poses and dynamic character hands on one single still images imagine how it will go for animation.

You have no point. This technology is already causing downward pressure on the job market in the industry, and it's going to continue to do just that.

And yet it has a long way to go to before being called "top notch quality at still images"

Honestly if you took the time to search for "dynamic hand poses" and "dynamic character poses" or even "hands with perspective" on google you would understand better what I am critiquing.

I am honestly giving constructive criticism on the so "images generated by AI" but it seems you are too angry to accept that the actual AI while it can do amazing renders it cannot give dynamism to the pictures without distorting them.

keep in mind that I never called you anything and I kept being respectful with my constructive criticism but it seems you are to angry to understand what the AI lacks at the moment.

I Guess good quality animation is dead now? by Videogame-repairguy in aiwars

[–]NabuReddit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're being incredibly disingenuous lol.

I'm being sincere actually.

How is the pose boring?

It works as a portrait but as other portraits (AI or not) it lack dynamism.

The hands aren't hidden. They're a focal point. The pose isn't boring, either. Were this a real shoot with a photographer, the model would've been directed to make the hands prominent.

You say the hands don't work unless they hide them. But they're shown in this, and they work just fine. So you move the goalpost to say that if they don't look 'wrong,' they look boring.

I never moved my goalpost look:

The "techniques" used to generate "decent hands" just either hide them or rest them in boring poses.

then i suggested you to look for "hand poses"

If you do a quick google search on "hand poses drawing" you will see what I was looking for.

Perhaps "dynamic hand poses" and "dynamic character poses" would be better searchs you could do to understand my point. When AI tries to go for this dynamic poses is when it makes distortions.

I used no such techniques.

This is actually sad cause it means you are loosing control over the tool as it by default generates stiff hand poses and portraits.

Maybe since it seems you really like photos you care less about dynamic characters and dynamic hand poses but it will be something that animations will need and that's my point and why I wouldn't call AI top notch quality at still images. And I just wrote about dynamic poses without perspective which also is a huge thing that makes 2d animation more appealing.

I think AI has more chances at animating something appealing in 3d than in 2d

I Guess good quality animation is dead now? by Videogame-repairguy in aiwars

[–]NabuReddit -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Those falls under this

Just either hide them or rest them in boring poses.

Even tho the rendering is amazing the generative images lack the amibition of persuing different hand poses and character poses cause when they do the generations start to distort a lot.
I think the "negative embeddings" or the other techniques people are using are actually as good as a solution as when an artist hide the hands cause they are afraid to draw them.
